Saturday we went to the city to handle a side job started the truck in the morning no issues besides a belt squeak, get downtown no problem shut down at 09:00 truck sat until 13:00 when the job was complete. We went to start up and truck was very weak but started volt meter on dash showed in range but on low side sitting on the line after 2-3 seconds it bumped to over 14. Get home no issues, at this point I'm not thinking alternator since it's showing its charging and made the trip home. The shortened long story on this truck is it doesn't have it's original cab or any original sheet metal for that matter it was apart for years, has a 1/2 ton body with a 3/4 to…

This might seem like a stupid question but I would rather ask it than suffer a bad out come. I understand if you disconnect the batteries completely, you have to then reset the APPS when you connect the batteries back up… Yes, No??? If I want to clean the terminals, do I lose battery power if I only do one terminal at a time on one battery while leaving the other one hooked up?

02 ram 3500-6 speed manual 4x4. If the battery temp circuit is open will this prevent the PCM from charging/regulating? I checked ohms between C1 pin 4 and C3 pin 15 on the PCM and found this circuit to be open.

I've been really busy working on my 01 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 4x4. Friday night after work - pull the HVAC box out and replace the heater and evaporator cores. The heater core was the original brass one from the factory, but it was plugged internally. The previous owner just installed a new radiator and I just replaced the water pump about 3 weeks ago. Vacuumed down the A/C system last night, and then recharged it with freon. Yesterday - changed engine oil and filter, install PCM protection mod with soldering in an inline fuse and using a 5A fuse, modify the charging system with the W-T ground mod, install a …

Hey guys! I was just throwing this out there for anyone to make a comment on their preference.I have been looking at replacing both batteries and am thinking between interstate and optima. They are both 30 month free replacement batteries. Optima seems cool because of regular battery with abit of deep cycle so you can use it without engine and not have to worry about jump starting or trickle charging. Interstate I have heard is good also but where I work we have had issues with them from time to time. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!

When I drove the 2001 Dodge (aka The Dragon) home for the first time shew blew billowing clouds of coal all the way from Kingman Arizona (the place of acquisition) to my home in Los Angeles. Hence the truck was named "The Dragon." There was a long list of items causing that voluminous smoke including: dirty fuel filter, tired injectors, busted intercooler boots, worn out legacy tuner (or not), cracked exhaust manifold, etc. With each measure taken the amount of smoke output was greatly reduced. After a lot of learning and a lot of fun adventures I finally won the battle! The last measure was changing the gearing in the final drive from 3.55 to 3.73…

I have an opportunity to get the bd manifold at a good price. New in the box. https://www.xtremediesel.com/bd-power-1045947-exhaust-pulse-manifold Is it a worth while upgrade. I'd be be trading labor, but not sure I want it. It does look good, will it make any power? Lower egts? Help turbo spool quicker? Bd claims it does but from researching I'm not sure. Might just be a pretty part. Figured I'd ask you guys first because I'm torn its literally eating me up not being able to decide.

Hello all I was looking threw my Geno Garage Mag. earlier and seen an item in it called a BD-2 low kit http://www.genosgarage.com/BD-2-LOW-KIT-94-01-4WD/productinfo/BD-1030703/ what i was wandering was does anyone on here have one installed or seen one in use and how well does it work. I owned a 76 blazer that had 2L-2H-4L-4H and the 2L came in hand alot to aid in getting heavy loads rolling easier with out using 4wd. Thank's for reading and look forward to response's.

So you all seen my post about being pulled over twice for a failed driver-side tail light? I pulled the entire pigtail out and the bulbs and found a single wire that folded over and broke the wire but the jacket was undamaged. As I gave a small tug on the wire it separated completely. Sadly the wire itself was oxidized pretty badly. The break was within about 1/2 to 5/8 from the plug. I attempted to solder it back together and shrink tube the repair but the wire just refused to accept solder from being oxidized so badly. I opted to use a standard butt splice and seal the ends the best I could and then taped the repair over. Then finally I was cleaning out the…

Back when I last blew the head gasket. I sent the head in to be cleaned, checked, and surfaced again. When I got the back and installed my +150 HP injectors quite literally fell in the holes. The body o-ring was a bit small sides from the dirt or after cleaning up the head. I just finished up installing the injectors and hope for the best. Nevertheless, the o-rings create a prime loss problem every morning hard start, and white smoke even with block heater and grid heater. Nose down starts easy. I ordered a new set of o-rings then proceeded to lose the o-ring in Thor for 2 months. Then I found them again and hid them in Beast. So last Thursday I took the time to change t…

I know the moon is 238,000 miles roughly to the moon. If you double that is 476,000 miles to the moon and back. Now time to load Beast back up and head back to the moon. Again another 238,000 miles.

Like the title says I've got a 99 2500 been chasing this issue pretty much since I got the truck almost 2 years ago. Long story here I've dug and dug into research on it. Looked at other forums, looked at other pages, seen what worked. I even fixed a few when I worked at dodge by relocating the ground across the radiator. That's what led me to this site when I found out about the alternator AC issue. It made perfect sense seeing as my ECM has a bad microprocessor also. I tried all those bogus tricks. Nothing can seem to fix my truck short of a $3000 manual swap. Only one that really helped was cleaning and replacing bolts on battery terminals for about a week then it came…

Well since most of my truck is now straight water since the issue I had this morning. I have been researching the coolant for my truck and find out it is the plain ethylene glycol (Green) antifreeze. Low silicate and meets requirements of ASTM D-3306 and ASTM D-4985. My only question is because of reading about cavitation errosion issues with diesels. Is the 98.5-02 Cummins ok with this antifreeze alone or do I need to add an SCA additive to the mix??

Beginners question... The bolt that holds the fuel line to the VP44. What is the torque when I put it back in? The bolt must be hollow, I don’t want to do any damage. Any thing else I need to know? Thanks

Had a nasty belt squeal for a while. Kinda embarrassing to drive since it was louder than the engine itself. I could spray water on it and it would quiet down so I figured it's the belt. Bought the one in the picture from Rock Auto and the squeal is gone! Even the signature Cummins chirp on shutdown has gone away. Time will tell how it holds up. Just wanted to share for those fighting a squeal.
