Hi guys, I looked through the topics on this forum and didn't find anything specific about this. I have determined that my Raptor pump functions only for the first 15 to 30 seconds after startup, then quits. I hotwired it to the battery and it works fine, so it seems to be a power interuption to the pump causing this. If this is true it doesn't seem that a relay would solve the problem, as the same power interruption would interfere with power to the relay. Could this be some sort of ECM issue, or maybe just a ground, or reflash needed? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

MM suggested I post up after speaking with him on the telephone yesterday afternoon. this all started after some cold weather here. leaving work one day and just died on me a few times, hard to start and then finally nothing. here goes working on a 1999 2500 5.9 l . it is hi-line w/auto transmission. key fobs never worked for me. trouble is it is very very hard to start. finally got it to run yesterday, let it run for about 5 minutes and turned it off. it didn’t want to start again. then when turning the key to start and run position, no lift pump noise. i waited 30 minutes and cycled the key again and heard the lift pump running. …

Hello everyone, long time no talk. Life has been busy and health has been bleh... Long story short i was coming back from utah for a friends wedding and he was moving as well. I towed the uhaul trailer 6'x12' densly packed and very very heavy. Had no problems going through the mountains on HWY 80 EB till about 80 mi from lariamie WY. I was heading up a very long grade and towards the top something bad happened. Here are the stats of when it happened speed 70 gear 6 EGT under 1250 (no more than 60 seconds@1250, i saw it and turned the cruise off and throttled down) boost around 20psi rpm appx 1800~ cant remember exactly but was below 2000 oil psi normal ~6…

When I tried to start my truck this morning the WTS was flashing. The truck will crank but will not start. I think it may be the ECM. The fuel pump will not run when i bump the starter, but will work off the battery on a switch. I have checked all relays, fuses and battery connections. There are three codes P0123, P17656, P1694. Does anyone have any ideas what else I can check?

Some folk's are saying that this pump is fine for a stock motor, and some are saying it is only good for target practice or an expensive paper weight. It is my understanding that it comes with two different springs (to adjust for more pressure if desired) , that it is a relatively easy install in the oem position, and that it is an option to install it down on the frame close to the tank with the required relocation kit. It comes with a four year warranty from the same folks that make the higher end FASS systems. So, for a stock motor, why not use this pump? Thank's for your time and attention............Hood Latch

With all of the problems people been having lately with trannys, at least some I'm sure, I decided to not wait any longer and ordered some coolers and filter kit for my transmission. Currently I run 7 qts of Amsoil synchromesh (http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/transmission-fluid/manual/manual-synchromesh-transmission-fluid-5w-30/?code=MTFQT-EA) for about 4 years and 20k ml now. Heard different opinions on how much to overfill, some say at least a qt some say 8-9 qts. This has probably been beaten to deaf by now, but also some time has gone by, so hoping for some input from guys that use Fast coolers (http://www.genosgarage.com/product/fc-6-spd-dg/transmission-coolers…

I've been adding 2 cycle oil to my VP-44 and my wife's 12V since 2001, 8 years now. Pulled the injectors once and they looked exactly as expected. No evil 2 cycle "gum" buildup. Now to the interesting part: I bought another used 3500 2001 with 117,000 miles. Shortly there afterwards, I started getting low power periods and P1693 (?), the code for "internal timing error". I didn't have the time or money to replace the VP at that time. So I experimented with heavy dosing of 2 cycle oil in the fuel. <100:1 mix ratio. I was able to drive the truck several more months before replacing the VP.My son didnt believe me about 2 cycle oil, his VP died at about 150,0…

I'm looking to get a used programmer for my 00 24v 47RE. I'm not looking for much horsepower and can't afford stacking chips, so I'm looking for one cheapo/used one to give me fuel economy. I wouldn't mind a bit of horse or a bit of smoke or whatever, but I'm really just looking for mileage, as trans improvements have yet to come. So far, been looking at Edge EZ, Diablo Powerpuck (with which I'll need a boost fooler, I guess), Superchips Flashpaq, or a Quazilla even though they're discontinued. So I guess my question is: I don't want to endanger anything with a "pressure box" but on economy setting, am I really doing any harm? If not, which of these is best for mo…

99 Ram 2500 4x4 auto 5.9 24V bought it with 89K on it now has 116K. The Issue I have is intermittently when it starts it has a ideal lope for about 5 to 10 seconds then ideals normally which around 740 -750 rpm... occasionally 800 rpm... The problem is/was magnified when I installed 75HP injectors... bigger lope like it had a big cam in or something... but again it would ideal normal after 5-10 seconds on it own or if gave it some pedal... it would also like to stall when putting it in reverse with the 75hp injectors sometimes... the problem is only at start up truck runs fine other then that... I put the stock injectors back in and still does it just at a smaller lope…

I have been looking for a replacement lift pump and am leaning towards a mechanical pump. Are there any major differences between the Fuel Boss and the Predator? Anything that makes one so much better than the other such as quality of parts, kit completeness, customer service, etc? This will be going on the truck in my signature plumbed in with the stock filter for now. Im trying to build a reliable low maintenance driver/tow truck, not some high hp toy. Thanks for any opinions/experience that you can provide.

Hi all, Well I mentioned in my thread about injectors that it was finally time to re seal my vac pump because it had started really leaking. Seems I was wrong about the source of these new, and very sudden large puddles. Its PS fluid, and I can't figure out why, or where its coming from. Heres whats happened lately. Flushed PS fluid a couple months ago. Next, flushed fluid again to replace hydrobooster. At this point I was leaving drips, not puddles, from all the residual PS fluid all over the place from the two flushes. Next, I washed the underside of the truck to make sure I wasn't having major oil leaks. I went about a week seeing only a drip or two and sometimes …

Time to change out the fluid before our heavy fall towing season. This trans was rebuild 3 years ago, and had the oil fill plug moved up on the case for overfilling capability. Dodge dealer installed the trans for me (they didn't rebuild it, just r and r'd it). I assumed they used the correct fluid at the time. This trans still has the 1.25 input shaft, so probably has the composite syncro rings, not the brass. Does the composite rings demand Chryslers spec oil? I've read a bazillion posts with many recipes for various blends of engine oil, synthetic trans fluid, ATF, and straight syncro …

First, my question. I have her all torn down to the point where I just have to remove the timing cover. Fingers crossed no grooves on crank. 222K on the clock. I bought a cummins seal at the dealer. Says cummins on the part. Question..... which way is OUT? Logic tells me this side should face INWARD towards the crank: And this side OUTWARD facing away from the crank: Reasoning, the second picture has a rotational marker. when facing you it is clockwise. when facing the front of the truck, the crank turns clockwise. Why am I asking? bc the plastic alignment piece is conical (cone sha…

Ok guys 2001 model here auto trans. Yesterday on the way home pulling a small trailer coming into a small town about 60 or so. Got a CEL and tach dropped and then picked back up. I pulled over and did the key flip and got P1693. I also have a superchips programmer I keep in the truck to read codes and plugged it in and I got nothing from it. Cleared codes with it and continued on went 80 miles or so and it had never came back on. Stopped to eat got back in and pretty quick after taking back off at lost speeds around side streets and parking lots it came back on. 10 miles later maybe stopped again and read codes again both ways again only had P1693. Cleared again g…

Ok Gang... I just had a wonderful phone conversation with Rburks this morning and his chasing his problems with his idle well he happen to mention the fact he did the APPS voltage adjustment and I like "OMG not again!" There is a article on the Internet that is wrote up wrong and need to be corrected and stopped. Problem #1 - Voltage on label Everyone is trying to hit this voltage dead on... DON'T! This is the voltage that the APPS sensor goes from ON idle start to OFF idle state. You voltage MUST be BELOW this number. Like on mine the voltage is .519. Don't set the voltage at this set it below this mark say .480 to .490 because as you add …

261k miles and my NV4500 finally died. Not the 5th gear nut. I lost both 3rd and 4th gear. I was just leaving my place pulling the trailer back to New Meadows, ID with the a truck on the deck. Got into 3rd and the stick was rattling oddly. Poured the fuel to her to get rolling and it popped out of gear. Difficult to get into 4th. I knew the transmission had lost a bearing or something. Got up to New Meadows flats and check everything over no leaks. 1st gear works fine, 2nd gear works fine, 3rd pushing against you and BANG! Then tried 4th its missing. Rowed to 5th and barely had enough power to get the truck going. I had another 5-6 miles to go before cell service. I got a…

Hey guys. I got a pretty loud knock happening with the old Cummins and could use some help identifying it. My alternator went out on a business trip this week. In an attempt to limp the truck to the next town I ran it dead. I had a new alternator put in it and got it all charged back up. When I fired it back up it was smoking a lot I had a miss and knocked real bad. I put about 20 miles on it and the miss/smoke went away but the knock is still there. It changes up and down with engine speed. I have checked under the hood or tools left over belt issues and anything obvious. Boost fuel pressure and exhaust temp are all normal. No check engine light but I w…
