I am not one to normally post problems, due to i have not found many things that have not already been discussed. I have 2002 ram 2500 auto, 4x4, 24v, sport that has some major things going on with the modules, and can bus signal. I am getting readings from +3.5-4 volts -3.5-4volts. ref should be 5 volts overall limit. The injection pump has been tested standalone( cummins module) we have scoped the obd2 port on canbus+ and can bus-. the ecm has been disconnected to verify a change in signal limits( no change), and we are still having problems with out of limits voltage readings. More info... It had a tst powermax 3 stacked with a ts mvp tuner. The truck has been returned…

So earlier this week I put the big line kit on from my factory filter to the VP44. After checking all the connections I went to the car wash and powerwashed under the hood around the starter, whole factory fuel filter unit, and around the inlet for the VP44. This morning was 36 degrees and the truck started fine and drove about 30 miles on the freeway headed out deer hunting. Pulled up to my friends house and then the RPM gauge drops to zero, CEL on, and the truck started almost like hiccuping or bumping RPM up. Backed out and drove it down the street and the truck seemed to drive fine. Pulled over, shut it off, waited about a minute then turned it over. Tru…

I went to start my truck the other week and when I cycled the key my pump sounded weird like it was growling or pumping slow and it would kick off almost immediately even when I cycled the key for it to pump 20 seconds it would kick off. I called airdog and after a little bit of troubleshooting he figured my pump was going out so I bought a new and improved "4G pump". But the day I went to replace it the fuel pressure started to rise and eventually it sounded normal again and didn't have any other issues with it. So I changed out the pump and figured all was well. """I just changed the filters a couple months ago and have probably 300 miles on the new filters so we figur…

  7. Picked up a cater pump for backup pump just in case of airdog failure. Not sure what is best for pump, if I should mount it now or wait till I need it, if I ever do. Choices are: Carry carter pump under rear seat in plastic bag. ...Ready to go if and when I need it. Who knows when I might need it, but pump gets no exercise but is not exposed to weather, etc. OR mount it now next to airdog pump? ...Exposed to weather, and I'll probably will hook it up maybe twice a year to make sure still works. What would yo do? Thanks for your input.

I finally spent some time this weekend pulling and resealing my vacuum pump. I have been having some pretty good oil leaks as of late, also a ton of smoke ou tof the breather tube. I have also been having low vacuum issue at idle. Pretty easy to do, hardest part is getting the 4 nuts holding the PS pump to the back of the vacuum pump off. I highly suggest taking the truckt o a self wash place and power washing the area well before you start. Takes about 3 hours the first time you do it, prob half of that the next time you do it. I have been %100 drip free since rebuilding it so I am pretty happy. I also have plenty of vacuum n…

  10. I know a couple of times I've had my batteries disconnected anywhere from 15-30+ minutes. I've never done an apps reset (didn't know about it). I'm asking because I'm still having issues with my truck (at times) dropping in and out of lock up.. like yesterday was horrible. Just releasing the slightest of tension on the accelerator would cause it at 55, 65 and higher. Today.. no issue whatsoever tho.. Ran around 80 miles.. stop and go and highway.. never dropped out once. Not sure why it has good days and bad? I'm getting a TPS low voltage code every time I check and clear. I'm going to try the reset procedure tomorrow based on cumminsdog suggestion. And.. I still need to…

My 99 QCLB has 315k on it and is on the 3rd lift pump. The previous owner had the fuel pump replaced by the dealer the first time then used a big rig shop's replacement similar to the carter. So far it has been working great. The big rig shop also installed a fuel pressure dummy light which comes on only when with the wait to start is there. One of the banjo fittings on the VP44 is where the dummy light has been installed. Once the truck is running it never has come on. I mostly use the truck for hauling a little 7x12 utility trailer, camping, and pretty much any other excuse I can use to drive it. Reading through the different articles I see the first upgrade I sho…

I recently got my much needed gauges and hooked up fuel pressure first to check things out. When i bumped the starter for the 25 second run, it jumped to 24 and slowly increased all the way up to 26! Does this sound like a return line restriction? I have an adjustable overflow valve that is preset at 14 psi. What could be going on here? I think this is the cause of my rough running truck...

Hey guys, So with moving lately I've had the chance to make more long trips with my truck, and also done a good bit of lower speed back road driving. Also done a good bit of trailer towing lately. Some empty car trailer, some loaded car trailer with a tractor like in my thread about first time towing, and some loaded 6x12 enclosed trailer. Nothing too heavy, I would say 8k max and around 3k average. Anyway I've been noticing my average MPG numbers with all this driving and they aren't where I'd like them to be. Unloaded on the highway doing 65 mph with 3:54 rear, best incan get with the edge is a little under 19. With the smarty I used to have I could almost hit 22! …

I think something is wrong with my Edge... This past weekend I took a trip up to Connecticut with the camper. Under normal acceleration and driving I don't notice a problem.. but when I'm up around 65 mph and I try to accelerate up a grade I can feel the truck sputter a bit. I turned off the Edge and the problem went away. I was running the Edge on 2/3 and my Smarty is set to 2. Is the Edge starting to fail? I haven't checked for codes yet...

  16. Just what the title says, I'm searching for anyone with a smarty (S-03) tuner in the Colorado high Rockies (I'm in Leadville, can travel) who would be willing to meet up with me and activate the high idle programming in my 01 24v so I can use my moparman high idle kit. Willing to pay cash or beer, whichever you would prefer. Also, sorry if I posted in the wrong place, wasn't sure where this applied.

Hey all, So lately I've been wanting to quite my truck down just a bit. I LOVE the sound, but I've had passengers more often lately and it gets a little annoying when trying to hold a conversation. Anyway I found a new MBRP 4" muffler on my local Craigslist for $40 and I made arrangements with the guy to buy it. He said you can see right through it but it does have some flappers or something inside. I'm concerned about my egts coming up some, but I figured for $40 what do I really have to loose? Anyway I was just curious if anyone has any good or bad experiences with MBRP mufflers that they would share with me(good or bad sound, higher egts)? Also, my truck has a ver…

Started off with finding out my heater core started to leak but the stuff should be at the house sometime within a week. But as of this morning I have know low beams but I do have high beams. So after worked stopped and picked up a new headlight switch from my local junkyard and that didn't fix it. I have checked the fuses and not really sure where to start next.

  19. Good morning,Ok so hopefully you will be able to solve or help me solve my problem before I sell this truck! Quick background - I bought this truck about 4 months ago with 160k miles on it, it now has 170k. About a month ago I was driving down the street and it suddenly died. Pulled codes and turned out it was the injection pump, VP44 no surprise. After getting the money together, I finally had it replaced with one from Thoroughbred Diesel and also installed a FASS Titanium system while was at it. Got it back this past Monday and it was running fine. Took it on a quick 400 mile trip across FL with no issues. Then the next day I took it to work, 40 miles, and started…

Hate to bug you guys with 101 questions.......I've been using Wix airfilters for years. Last one I bought (late last year) didn't have the foam material on the back. I thought someone forgot to put it on. Today shopped for a new one at Auto zone. Again no foam backing that Wix has put on for years. Looked on Amazon and the pic has foam backing but in comments others have noticed no foam backing of what is actually shipped. https://www.amazon.com/WIX-Filters-46272-Heavy-Filter/dp/B000C9UKTU Called Wix and their FAQ people said they are no longer using the foam backing and "but what is sold today meets or exceeds OEM". I'm pretty well stock, but I do p…
