Kind of an obscure question, as I was looking at the wiring diagram for my truck. (see link) @Dynamic If you have any input here... I would appreciate it. I am trying to figure out why the trans relay is in line with the alternator field. If you look at the PCM on the left side, about mid way down you will see a GEN FIELD DRV, in dark green. This field runs 100hz AC to the alternator from the PCM causing it to charge. Lower you will see a GEN FIELD OUT, returning from the alternator to the transmission relay. Why would they do this? Why not run the signal for the trans relay directly to the relay? Why allow the non steady state voltage reg…

You guys say i need a fuel pump relay. I buy a new relay and understand all the wiring to it. Crawl under the truck and find 2 wires going to my fuel pump. ! red and 1 black. OK find the ground. Use ohm meter, both go to ground. Fire the truck up and red reads 13.9 and black reads .3. Check black with ohm meter and it does not show ground. ?Probable goes to ground through computer?? Do not want to screw anything up! HELP?

@Mopar1973Man please put this up top for me. If you think it should be somewhere else, go ahead and move it. My truck was stolen last night in lakewood. I'm sure most of you know what it looks like, but here's a couple pictures. One of the passenger windows was busted out to gain access, but I have no idea how they got it running. Thank you

My Son`s 2000, 3500 has had some erratic transmission behavior going on for a little while. It seems like a the familiar TC lock/ unlock issue.. At lower speeds and rpm it continually searches. Turn the overdrive off and the issue goes away. He pulled the alternator fuse and took it for a test drive and the issue also went away. Now fast forward. He bought what I believe was a remanufactured alternator from Oreilly`s last week, and everything seemed great for a few days. The trans symptoms have now came back intermittently, and on top of that, the new alternator is now making a slight squealing noise like the belt is slipping a bit. Oreilly`s offered to s…

Beginners question... The bolt that holds the fuel line to the VP44. What is the torque when I put it back in? The bolt must be hollow, I don’t want to do any damage. Any thing else I need to know? Thanks

New member here. I notice Dynamic Transmission is one of the sponsors of this forum. I see hardly any posts about peoples experience working with them. Anybody here have one of their transmissions? How do you like it? Any info good or bad would be appreciated.

Okay I have a 99 Cummins auto 4x4 with 199,000 on it and I just replaced the ecm and pcm and everything worked great till yesterday when I picked it up from having the u joints and axle seals done now it doesn't like to shift into that deep drone overdrive, if I accelerate lightly after 4th gear it will jump rpms then go into overdrive. It will sometimes jump rpms in other gears depending on what certain speed I am at. So what is the issue? I have heard alternator, tps sensor or crank sensor. This issue gets worse as I drive it to where it will jump in all gears no matter what speed till I pull over and poke around then it wont do it as bad for a little bit.

Heading out to work today. Got about 1/3 of the way to work. Hit a small hill and suddenly the truck wouldn't shift up. Couldn't go much faster than 30mph. Trying to go faster, the transmission would hunt back and forth like it was going from 3 to 2 and back. So i pulled over and thought I toasted the transmission somehow. Got to calling around and local shop wanted me to limp it in. I eventually got to a down hill and it up shifted for me. After that it was okay to drive. Dunno how that happened. But i played it safe and still went to the shop. The owner put his scan tool on the truck and said my output speed sensor was bad. …

Anybody have a good memory? Someone posted a pic of a brake airline they used for their low fuel pressure gauge. I can't find it now. The pic had name printed on the hose. I would like to track some down. Anybody remember the post or know what line to use? At my NAPA I asked for 1/4 inch airbrake line and they wanted to sell me what's listed below. After looking up what they sell I don't want to use it. It's not even brake line and I've hit the "bold" to show where I think it is lacking. Or if anybody's used this, is it good enough? Maybe just me but I was thinking there must be something better. Thanks for any response. …

Hello All, . Been referencing this site for years and found many answers. Good job. Heres my question. I bought an 01 with a Banks Big Hoss Wire Tap. I have a Flashpaq F4 here also. Will these units work together. I looked on the stacking chart for the VP44 and didn't see the Big Hoss on there.

Some May recall my previous problem with my Fuel pressure. Initially the thought was air in the lines. But now I think it's something to do with the air dog pump block area itself. It still could be a house in this area,i dunno. What I do know, is that the problem is stemming from this area. Last night after work, I killed the batteries trying to get the truck to crank over. Luckily I had a guy to jump me. On the first startup of the day, it cranks over no problem. Sits afterwards, then it becomes a problem. This has happened a few nights in a row now. But not bad enough like Last night. I'll bump the starter to get the pump to cycle, a…

I am reaching the point where I need to have my 47re rebuilt. Im leaning towards a suncoast triple disc converter, shift solenoids and a built valve body. I am also going to use the most reputable diesel performance shop around do the work. Does anybody have a ballpark what it costs for labor on a job like that? Thanks

Aloha - I am back from Hawaii! And apologies if this was answered already somewhere else. Here is what happened: It's a gen II 2002 24 valve diesel 3500 Changed VP44 and ECU in Jan 16 - truck ran fine other than issue with TPS - which we changed as well (sometime spring 16). Had "no-start" issue with error 1689 a couple of weeks ago and swapped out the fuel relay for a new one - truck ran fine but pretty rough - felt like missing cylinder. Today truck started, drove around for a bit (but ran rough); we shut it down, tried to restart a while later and now, no start again. Pulled codes and it is now reading 1689 and 1690 - swapped re…

I installed my sending unit and fixed the broken quick disconnects with Larry B's kit. My fuel gauge still does not work. I did the cluster check, hold the odometer button down, and the gauge functions, etc. The resistance when the tank is empty was about 210-215 ohms; 20 ohms when the level is moved to full. I get these readings at the connector on top of the tank. Is there anything else, besides the harness being bad, that would make the fuel gauge not read? Thanks for any suggestions, the truck has 350k miles, and things are breaking down at an alarming rate.

I ran across this thread and thought I'd move it along through the forums. Seems someone has found a way around the problem of no more existing OEM engine fans. Anyone still struggling to look for one may find his information helpful. http://www.dieselforums.com/showthread.php?p=14561&posted=1#post14561

(So confused right now. I can't remember if I asked this question or not. Memory and fuel system not good. I'm going to install shut off valves and install elec fuel pressure gauge. I have an Airdog pump system. Fuel exits the tank by a sump at bottom of the fuel tank then goes to Airdog pump then directly to VP 44. If pump and water filter are below the level of fuel in the tank... I can just open valve on water filter and tank should just drain (slowly) by gravity, right? Thinking about locations of shut off valves... just after sump drain and just after Airdog pump. Does that sound good or is there something bett…
