How do you remove the gas pedal on a 2001 2500? There is a plastic retainer, with no screws or tabs to press. I'm ready to use a Sawzall and hack away. Thanks for any help

I am searching for Moparman's Alternator "noise" test article. Cant find where it is. I want to check and see if my alternator is 100% or not Does Alt noise have to do with a bad diode? I saw a Alternator part on Larry Bs sight. (Diode pack / Rectifier Bridge for Deanso Alternator) Is that "the fix" if your Alternator is making "noise" I think I checked my alt a few years ago, before I replaced my TPS Rick

Guys, just put on a steering brace tonight, great mod for me. I spent about an hour taking my time and torquing everything to spec, as well as greasing other fittings while I was under there. Took it for a ride and steering is much tighter with less road wander and better feel. I did swap my steering gear for a reman NAPA back in September, but it already lost that lovin' feelin' - if you know what I mean. If anyone is interested its a one piece " Big D " brace, and I can give the link to anyone who Pm's me. Here's a pic, one piece 1/4" plate.

Alright guys little story behind this... I left the mountain from snowmobiling today and about 20min into the drive I started the long trek up the 7% grade 5 miles long at 11,000ft elevation. By the time I got to the bottom of the grade my thermostat had obviously opened (Saw temps rise to 195 then backed down to 190). So, doing 70 with the EGTs at 1,100 degrees constant I look down and see the water temp rising... usually this is normal and it creeps to 195-197 then settles right in that area. This time it kept rising and topped out at 209. It then held that for about a mile, then dropped down to 195 and didn't rise again the rest of the way up the mountain. I don't thin…

Just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to everybody in this forum for all the help you give me and each other. This place really is like no other when it comes to getting help or advice with Cummins issues. I don't post on here much because I don't know enough to help with most of these issues but I do read A LOT and there is always a wealth of knowledge and ALWAYS someone willing to help. This forum has taken me from doing oil changes and an occasional brake job to finishing my first VP install about an hour ago. Mike I especially want to thank you for creating this place and deciding to keep it going. I'm not in a place where I can donate monthly right now but I …

I finally found the vibration that has been eluding me in the truck for the last 10 months. I went through all possible things to check and found that it was a bad brake drum. I think that it was a deformed casting from it's conception. I had to go through 3 new brake drums to finally find a good one but now the truck rides on the interstate as good as my wife's Town and Country. I am doing my happy dance and now it is time for a cold one. Thanks to all who offered suggestions along the way. Many times you never hear what the cure was when someone has a problem so the reason for this message will help others who may be trying to find the vibrations problems …

I thought we could get a thread started over here where we could post pictures of our trucks for everyone to see. I know we can post them in the garage but I thought we could have a spot to throw up pictures so let's see them! Maybe if we get enough pictures being put up Mike will sticky it.

Hello all! First time posting here, long time forum stalker! I've recently installed a Raptor FRRP to replaced my failed carter. Not sure how long that one was out but I found out while in the process of installing my ISSPRO gauges. Right now once the truck is fully warmed up my fuel pressure is at 19psi sometimes falling just into 20psi. While running down the road my numbers are between 16-18psi depending on hard heavy the left foot is. At WOT I get 14psi, sometimes dipping down to 13psi. While from the research I've done from this site, the numbers I'm seeing fall well within the safe zone of the vp44, I'm a little concerned about the amount it's drop…

Anyone using these Bluetooth devices on our trucks? http://www.amazon.com/BAFX-Products-Bluetooth-diagnostics-Android/dp/B005NLQAHS http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WOQLh1iGN60 Seems like a good deal for ten bucks plus a 5 Dollar app. I was looking at a scan gauge, but this looks pretty interesting. Any thoughts?

My '99 4x4 diesel used to fire right up , lately sometimes it has to crank longer than usual. Not real long cranking over, but noticeably a little longer crank time. Not all the time but did it today 3 times. It always fires though. I dont drive it every day . Drove it last two days probably 200+ miles I just put new batteries and military spec terminals and cables on it. Battery ground to frame and body grounds good. Has 164,000 miles, new VP a few years ago , lift pump pressure is ok, Fuel filter changed 5000 miles ago, and the old one was ok anyway . I run 2 stroke oil in the fuel all the time I plan on putting a Fass pump on it but " Idont think" that is the p…

What size fuel line is used to replace the fuel return line with the quick disconnect line past the "T",,, to the frame steel line. Have you guys just swapped out that stock plastic line with the quick disconnect and just use a regular good fuel hose and regular screw hose clamp? Im going to pull that quick connect off to check for air in the return line. It might break or maybe the O ring will be messed up and leak if I reuse it Rick

So after hauling home a new 5th wheel project today, I noticed that my new transmission gauge seemed inop. I tore down the dash and found the tap splice I used may have had an intermittent connection ( I hate those things) so I switched out a butt connector and that seemed to fix it. As I was there putting the dash back together, I figured I'd check the trouble codes for fun. It spit out the following: P0622 P0743 P1693 P1765 Now I had noticed wayyy back in fall that the trans had shifted in and out of OD on the highway a few times on a few separate days but quit. I have since then installed a lockup switch on the dash. Would the lockup switch cause the co…

Last week the parts department where I work was told to clean out everything that had been laying around, not in inventory. I walked past the scrap pile out back and there was a turbo. I checked it out and it was used but it pretty fair condition. I asked if it was supposed to be there and he said yeah, so like everything else I brought it home. It is a Borg Warner S300V 110 off of an International DT466. I'm curious as to whether or not I can use anything from this turbo to build a better turbo for my truck. I can't seem to find much information about the specs anywhere. I know it is a VTG but I'm wondering if there is anyway to make it work. Any info would be greatly …

It was time to fix some of my minor boost leaks and whistling sounds coming from the old manifold gaskets. So since Lindy wasn't busy and the gasket where their at work why not? So I got a nice dry spot to work inside and all the tools I could ever want. So I will tell you that you want to remove all the injector lines. The fuel filter has to come off (if you still have the stock fuel filter). APPS sensor has to be removed and the intake horn and grid heater of course. Take a nice sharp puddy knife and start scrapping off the old gasket. It will be baked on so take your time. Then once cleaned up I put a very fine layer of black silicone on both sides o…

I went snowmobiling the other day and now have popping going on inside my front end when in 4wd and there is pressure on the drivetrain. I believe it is the CAD as I have already jacked up both sides, checked all 5 U joints and turned the driveshaft (Pinion feels tight and driveshaft turns with ease). All U joints look good and have no slop in them. The transfer case has very little slop as well. The only thing left is the CAD. I think the diaphragm inside the actuator has gone bad because I can suck on the side that pulls the CAD over onto the disconnected side and it holds the vacuum. If I suck on the other line, it does not hold vacuum. Is there anything else I'm missi…

So guys, I developed lock up issues Friday morning. My truck was going subtle in and out. Ironically at the exact same time my trans developed shifting issues. Currently it is holding 1st gear to 2,500 rpm, and shifting between 45-55, and I also have the unlock and lock up problems as well. I traced an issues with a loose positive battery terminal and the grid heaters. Today I tested my vac, and I had .027-.033 at the batteries. And .04-.065 with the grids during away. After fixing the terminal using threaded rod and some nuts, the grid heater drop is now 12.15v instead of 10.15v. However, after the repair my alternator now is pushing .09 and the ba…
