Any thoughts on chasing down ac leaks. I haven't had very good luck with dye. Are the cheap sniffers any good. I was thinking about a kit with plugs and adaptors that can isolate components and pressurize them kind of expensive though. I changed the evaporator about 10 years ago I hope that's not the problem again.

Here we are with trucks from 98.5 to 2002 and we've got those clunky cigarette light power points. I know some of you have had to replace the cigarette lighter sockets and possibly the power point socket. I'm wondering what the hole in the dash measures out to I want to replace both the cigarette lighter and the power point with a pair of USB charger port. https://www.amazon.com/Dual-Charger-Socket-Power-Outlet/dp/B07FLTTXBD/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1539385959&sr=8-1&keywords=automotive%2Busb%2Bcharger%2B3%2BQC%2Bflush%2Bmount&th=1 If someone doesn't mind measuring out the hole for me. …

Wasn't as horrible as I thought. probly an hour to get it out. I am reinstalling with heater hose adapters. Instead of tearing the truck apart more. I may see if i can finangle the swivel lines through but on a quick look in the dark I don't think they go without do the other 3hours of disassembly

I'll post this here but I believe this could all lead to the thermostat. Anyway, not long ago I replaced the heater core and evap. Removed hvac, cleaned, inspected the foam seals and reinstalled. Now that it's getting cooler outside I'm noticing that it's not putting out the expected heat. I read the heater output write up in the articles section and checked for the movement of the blend door motor, checked to see if the heater hoses were hot indicating flow of coolant, blower motor is functioning as it should. All good. I have noticed though that when I come to a stop light or if I'm sitting still much more than about 30-45 seconds the engine begins to…

As winter wound down last year l noticed my blend was moving real slow from ac to heat. It finally stopped moving in the spring in ac mode. I was fine with that formthe time and now winter is here again and l want some heat. Figured the actuator had failed so l broke down today and pulled it out. Opened it up and found this. Not sure it shows in the pictures but the motor contacts are not touching the electrical contacts in the box. I pulled the motor out and put a 9v battery to it and sure enough it spins. I put the motor bacK in and touched the battery to the connectors an pushed them to the motor contacts and it works just fine. Not sure why they did not do …

Alright guys after I got some time to do some investigating my inner and outer tie rods are done for. Now is it worth it to upgrade to the t style steering or should I just got back factory. I don't want to drill the holes any bigger I want to just drop it in and go. Drives good other than a little sloppy steering. Best options cost efficient mind you!

I recently purchased an 01 regular cab 6speed 4x4 Cummins. The front measures approximately 4” lower than the rear. Is this normal? I don’t have the extra blocks and spring that I believe is the camper special? I just have 3 leafs, with 1 overload underneath, and a 4-3/4 block under the leaf pack. Is 4” a factory amount of rake in these trucks? Are my front coils just warn out? I’m measuring 25-25.5 in front and 29-29.5 in rear. I do have a slightly heavier front bumper. I was going to add a coil spacer to get it closer to level but that will still leave me 1.5-2” low in the front. Which isn’t bad but I want to make sure my coils aren’t warn. What are you stock measuremen…

Just curious to see what your diesel looks like. Here is what I get around quad cities Iowa, most of it is labeled 5-20% bio. It sure looks like gasoline to me, but then again I don't stare at it every time I fill up. Is this normal looking or

I took the UK government deal of 6 months grace for MOT test due to covid over 6 months ago, it is now well overdue, MOT is our yearly check or test for vehicles. Right hand side bed wheel arch is rusty with holes, this here is a no pass, truck has wheel arch extenders but I had to remove the rears to get the liners out to get to fit the 5th wheel hitch and decided to sort the rust before putting the spats back on. I got both bed sides from rockauto a while ago so once I'd cut the rust out I could see it needed inner wheel well panels, I couldn't find any for a 1998 truck so ordered for a gen 3 BUT I ordered the wrong panels DOH!!! I order the inner panels whe…

Just curious (because I forgot to look) are the reverse lights also wired through the factory 7 blade socket on the truck? Truck is an '01.

I have a set of headlights from the retroshop and on my way to work tonight I was following a friend of mine and when we got to work he told me my driver's side headlight was flashing blue every once in a while. He said he kept thinking he was getting pulled over. Anyone have any issues with their headlights flickering that can give me some insights. With it being intermittent, maybe a loose connection or bulb causing it to flicker when i hit a bump or something.

  12. Hey guys I’m having a pretty scary issue with the truck recently that got pretty bad yesterday after a long trip. This issue or one similar seems to have occurred to the previous owner only 13k miles ago. This is the invoice for his repairs at 198k (212k now) Invoice I also have a synergy steering box brace. Whenever I’m not on the gas or the truck is decelerating the steering will get very heavy, if I’m on the highway I can tell there is no power assist when I’m on the gas. If I’m pulling into a driveway or pulling up to turn at a stop sign or something, the steering will usually lock up completely. Taking my foot off the brake and turning the wh…

If this doesn’t belong in this section, sorry. i dropped my tank to not only get it ready for the install but to really look at it. An 18 yr old truck just needs it - my .02. anyway, I broke off the connection to the fuel line and noticed that the line - to the frame - had been crimped the whole time and always wondered why I got hesitation at WOT. question, do I need the fuel line or not ? i highlighted the culprit.

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone had a wiring diagram for the gauge cluster connections? Thanks!

Just bought a set of Timken front bearing assembly for a 2002 Ram (2WD). It's looking like 280 ft lbs of torque for the axle nut but I'm reading other specs anywhere from 180 lbs to over 300. Even the Timken web page says 280 but always to use the manufacture's specs (whatever that is?). So what the hell is it? I know they're damn tight but does anyone know the actual spec. Also, I take it with this type of sealed unit the torque is set and no backing off a quarter turn or something? Again this is a 2WD not 4WD.

I have not seen a lot of info on these, so I thought I'd ask you guys. Will I see any benefit in putting traction bars on my truck? I know they keep the rear axle from twisting, not that I do burns outs and stuff, but I've heard it helps a lot with washboard roads and smoother take off with the clutch from a stop. Ive gotten used to it, but man there are still times the clutch likes to shake the crap out of you, usually when reversing up a slight hill (It has done this before and after a new clutch.) What are the benefits? If im towing of hauling a heavy load, is there anything I need to keep in mind in regards to the bars? Like are there situations wher…

Brand new here hoping to get some advice. I noticed my drivers side front fender liner was getting oily the other morning and traced it back to the brake booster. I would like to replace both the hydro unit and master cylinder at the same time is this advantageous or should I not really worry about the master as it has no signs of leaking. Truck has 380k on it as it sits. Also any tips on changing one or both items would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance!

Got tired of elbow robbing on armrest especially on longer trips, desided to try some padding. First I used some packaging foam made out of plastic but it wore out in few weeks, so I got kids floor puzzle tile and cut it out of that, because it always comes out of it even after months of crap sitting on it. So I give you this, enjoy.... Thank me later, btw I used hot glue gun, worked perfect.

  19. My 99 ram 3500 2wd dually with ifs is wearing front tires. 3 months ago I had new tires installed and the truck aligned and they are wearing again. I spoke with the tire shop who also did the alignment and they suggested a camber correction kit. I was given a moog part number k80108 this looks like for the solid front suspension. Can anyone verify or explain how it works? I’m familiar with front suspension and understand alignment terms, but have seen no directions on this. Any help is appreciated.

  20. Mine leaks where barb enters tank. Can the grommet be replaced, if so where might I find replacement. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks Leaky
