Has anyone ever had one of these apart? I may look mine later today, the PO had the spare laying in the bed, the end of the winch cable with the tire cradle is zip tied to the hitch frame. I assume it was seized up or something but the more I use the truck the more the spare in the bed gets in the way. I've looked at new winches and they're a bit pricey for what they are so just wondered if anyone has dissected one.

So i'm almost certain i'm going to hear to good to be true, but anyone have any experience with these mirrors or this company? Looking at the manual tow mirrors for an 02 2500 which are cheaper than the ones for an 01 and under. I thought 97-02 2500 series all fit the same manual tow mirror? Are these mirrors junk? http://www.discountautomirrors.com/catalog/?N=1607+10105+4294962959&Nr=AND%28part:Mirror,brand:Kool%20Vue%29&Ns=price3|0

Ok I tried to down load the 02 schemeatic but I am missing a program to open RAR files with. what is rar and what program do I need to open it?As for the cruise It will not turn on, the light in the dash will not come on. I am not sure if the cruise light is supposed to self check but it doesn't illuminate at first key on like all the other cluster lights do. I put a new clock spring in today thinking that was the problem as my horn quit working as well but after taking the column trim off I found 3 broken wires which I fixed and replaced the clock spring anyhow. an now the cruise light still doen't turn on but the horn works again, I looked for a fuse for it in both fuse…

Finally after all this time the steering gearbox now just starting to leak power steering fluid. Input seal is weeping fluid and I had to top off with power steering fluid about 8 ounces worth. So I'm going to have to look into a gearbox seal kit and rebuild my box. I will not replace it with Bluetop or Readhead. Still tight steering just now starting to weep power steering fluid.

Well last night I installed my new steering box and let me tell you this...HOLY HELL did it make a HUGE difference. The steering went from about 40-50 degrees of play down to maybe 10 degrees of play. The tseering is SO much more responsive to turns now! I got a reman unit from Carquest Auto Parts and it is just amazing what the difference was from the stock unit. I want to give a very big thanks to MnTom for sending me the factory bolts to install the new box and they worked out excellent! I can't thank him enough for helping me out in this situation. The only thing that kinda sucked was removing and installing the pressure and return lines on the box itself. It was a ti…

I've had it with mine, they ride so dang stiff, reminds me of my 79 F-150 when I had 6 Rancho shocks on it. I'll be pulling them off soon and tossing a set of Monroe Reflex shocks back on it. I asked my co-worker, if I was an old man with a glass taint, what shocks would you sell me? It's ok, she already thinks I'm weird. If anyone is interested in them I'll be tossing them in the classifieds when I get them out.

  10. Hey all! Back again with more questions lol. So I am wanting to replace the the 2 bars for steering (I get confused with what to call them my bad, tie rods I'm assuming?), steering box (planning to go with a blue top), sway bar, track bar, and possibly ball joints, alignment shop told me one or both had a little bit of play but told me I wouldn't have issues with tire wear. If there are parts I'm missing that I should replace, please tell me below! Tire wear has been fine I believe and its been about 5k miles. Need to rotate soon. I have a LOT of slop in the steering, possibly kind of dangerous at this point lol. Biggest question is what brand to …

  11. @MUDDY had a project for me at his place. I happen to spot a set of wheels that would get rid of my crappy aluminum wheels that one is way out of center or bent some how. Sad to say, my tires are beyond saving the damage is done to them. I did the dismount and remount myself and spun balanced them to true ZERO on all four tires. At highway speeds you can feel the vibration from the wheels. No, It's not driveline I just replace all u-joints on both front and rear driveshafts. Nice match to my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 no all I need is a set of center caps. At least the tires are now tucked back under the fenders again.

Yesterday afternoon I read every post about Cruise Control on this forum. There was only one personHEAVY DUTY aka Delano Watts, that had the same problem as I have. There was never a conclusion or remedy to solve his problem, his thread just went dead. I am telling this story so everyone knows that I honestly tried to solve this by myself using information supplied by members. With this said I will submit my problem and hope to find a remedy. My cruise control has never worked sence I have owned this truck. When I press the CC button on the steering wheel the green lite, lites up as It should. The vacuum required to operate the HVAC heater/defroster works as It should. I h…

Does anybody know if the little “male” connector with the spring door can be purchased separately from the pigtail that plugs into the body trailer harness? And if so, what’s the part number? All I can read is Delphi. Everything else is gone. Thank you.

I want My truck to look new inside and out and under the hood. I would like to clean up under the hood from when that VP44 fitting broke and sprayed a ton of fuel all over the engine bay. Question is is it ok to poowerwash under the hood? What needs to be removed or protected before hand? What do you guys use for a degreaser?

This is on a 96' 2500 12v 4x4 auto. I replaced the rear brake shoes, drums, upgraded to GM cylinders and flushed the system. Front brakes are in excellent condition. Everything has been working fine until about a week ago. The rear brakes are really grabby and will lock up easily until the ABS system kicks in. I haven't had a chance to pull the drums yet but there are no visible leakes and everything looks ok. Could the proportion valve have crapped the bed?

  19. Does anyone know where to get in-dash gauge clusters (or backings) that come in non-stock colors? For example: If you bought a set of Autometer Cobalt gauges for your pillar, and wanted to change the color of your speedo, tach, fuel level, engine temp, oil pressure, etc..., to a deep blue to match the Cobalts, how/where would you go to do it? I've looked a bit, but have found next to nothing except replacement stock dash panels. Sam

My hydroboost has been leaking for sometime and since its such a fine spray of high pressure fluid it has made a mess out of the drivers side fender area. The brakes work fine, the power steering does wine from time to time when the fluid starts getting low though. It seems a shame to replace the whole unit when the leak is just between the master and the hydroboost. Anyone ever reseal one of these? I found some kits here http://www.piratejack.net/Hydro-Boost-Rebuild-Kits.html Kit 50 is what the Cummins Ram's need.
