Im new thanks to google I found this site. I am working on my first dodge so its a learning process. What I have is a 97 3500 2wd cummins 5 speed. I changed the ac yesterday and am having no luck at all getting it to run. I changed everything except the evaporator, pulled it down and had to bypass the relay to get the clutch to engage. We filled it using this method using gauges and it cools great. When we put the relay back in the clutch will not engage. We have check low and high pressure switches and they seem to be working. I am lost for what I need to do next. Also the previous owner hooked up an external voltage regulator on the alternator, so I am wondering …

So I swapped out my injectors today with a new set of RV 275s. I'm pleased with the performance boost and overall improvement in throttle response. My problem I'm having is that I have a plastic tube about 3/16" in diameter that has come loose and I can't figure out where it goes. In the attached picture you can see that one end comes from what appears to be a check valve maybe. Can anyone help me identify what and where this tubing is and where the other end may attach. On a possible related note, my interior vents have stopped working and they worked fine yesterday. My AC is producing cold air but the vents won't open. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As I've posted before, the spring cups where the front springs sit on my front axle are badly rusted out. Dodge only sells them with the axle housing. (yeah, right!) It's not going to pass inspection without it. (It shouldn't have passed last year but after I spent a grand at the diesel shop they put a sticker on it so I'd pay them & take the truck away... They refused the job.) I called all over to find someone who would do it. The price they want to have the parts fabricated & installed is pretty steep but I'm out of options. I didn't tell them I couldn't find anyone else. So they are going to do that & install 4 new HD shocks. Yes, the shock mou…

After I took my batteries out to charge them, the next day I put them back in and now I got codes 237 and 177. I'm going to unhook them over night again and try resetting the apps, I heard that that could be the cause. Any other ideas? All I did is took batteries out charged them over night and put them back in, and did apps reset. All connections are in good shape, and I don't even have the factory fuel filter anymore just the fass 150. I'm hoping it's not the ecm. Thanks for the help.

I need a meter to test for AC noise. I was going to borrow the Fluke we have at work but I see even it only reads down to .1 acv. I'm getting a headache looking on the web and a lot of them don't offer the specs. for ac resolution. I didn't want to spend a fortune either. I'm wondering what the rest of you use that will read down to millivolts and won't require my left arm as payment.

Being an old truck naturally I've got headliner sag and the back was black due to third brake light leakage. Now that I've got it out after finding and fixing the light leak I want to recover the liner. Id like to do charcoal to match interior but I think I'll stick with tan to match the other roof parts. I can get the material on ebay but there's a few of that light tan and I'm not quite sure what exactly it is. Computer doesn't always show color shades exactly right either. Does anybody have any info or links to the exact color to match the visors and overhead compartment

Hey guys/gals, I just replaced my track bar with a Synergy 3rd Gen Upgrade track bar. I noticed my sway bar links are leaning over to the left, I'm assuming that's because the front axle isn't centered. This bar is adjustable and to my understanding the axle is centered via this feature. My question is this, how would I know when the axle is centered? Do I simply "eye' it? Also, is the track bar the only method used to center the front axle? Thanks in advance.

So, I’ve had ABS and brake lights on in the instrument panel since I got this truck and have read lots of threads on how to diagnose and repair the issue. My module seems to have been sent off for repairs before. Looks like the “technician “ cut through the top cover and attempted a repair without opening up the module. I have tried to open the top cover and have all the screws out but can’t seem to get the cover off. I think the connector for the pump motor is attached to the circuit board and must be left attached to the top cover and pulled through the bottom part of the module but I haven’t been able to accomplish this yet. Has anybody opened one of these up …

  11. A friend has a 99 2500 CTD with 129K miles. He is having problems starting it. Sometimes it will start first try, other times he tuns the key and nothing happens and will have to cycle the key 2 to 20 times before it will turn over and start. Has anyone else experienced this?

  13. I know I have read this before but here goes anyway. My old motor ran around 40 plus on the oil pressure, new motor runs on the edge of the next mark up. A big diff. from before, and I know it could be the sending unit which I can swap out sence I have a new one on my old motor. What would the next mark up be? And where does your gauge run?

So here's a weird one (or maybe it's not) and if it's been covered already, please point me to the thread because I couldn't find it. For years my brake pedal has been slow to return to full "off" position. Whether the truck is running or off makes no difference, if I push on the pedal even a little bit, it'll take a second or two for the brake lights to turn back off. It doesn't affect the way the truck drives at all, the brakes definitely release, it's just that last tiny bit to where it catches the brake light switch. The only time it matters is when I'm pulling a trailer with electric brakes. I have to remember to let the brake off a second or two before s…

  15. I am really getting tired of the lead tire weights that fall off and require periodic rebalancing. I have been considering using tire balance beads but have no experience with them. Is anyone here using them??? If so, what is your opinion and experience with them been? Thanks in advance for the replies.

Ever since I have owned my truck it has had this terrible "clunk" right under the drivers side foot rest. Some days it made me mad enough to want to drive the truck off a cliff. I have replaced EVERY part under the front of the truck more than once and I still have had this clunk. I had all but given up hope of ever fixing it. When I first felt it I thought " must need control arms" well I replaced them once, still had the issue, then I replaced them again " just because" Ball joints, steering etc etc etc........ Anyways fast forward to a month ago, I noticed that the mounting holes for the control arms were ovaled out, so I welded in some washe…

  18. Hey guys, I started my truck up yesterday and suddenly had no power brakes or steering. It was running fine a couple days ago and showed no symptoms or strange noises. I haven't had a chance to really look under the hood much yet, but when I glanced around, I didn't see any noticeable leaks and there was no big puddle under the truck. Goulds vacuum pump kit was installed over the summer by my shop, so that should be go to go. My question is what exactly should I be looking for when I dig into this? If there are no leaks and the fluid is full, I am assuming there is a plug somewhere or the PS pump is shot... is there a surefire way to tell if the pump is any good? I h…

I've noticed that when I apply the brakes when coming to a stop that my steering wheel will oscillate slightly at slow speeds as I decelerate. Any ideas where I might start with something like this?
