We have a 2005 Chevy Tahoe at the fire department as a spare vehicle. The other day on shift I had to drive to a class. Well low and behold i get in realise the front bucket seats have the seatbelts built into them like our 2nd gens. So now we have another option for seats. I'm sure brackets can be fabbed. Heres a pic of 05 Tahoe front seat.

Back to this topic again. I put plow prep coils/extra capacity coils on my truck a while back, thinking I was going to put a ranch hand bumper on and $1200 for a bumper just isn't in the budget anytime soon. Plow prep coils are just too stiff and too tall, I'm either putting my stock coils back on or putting some new coils from NAPA or Rock Auto on. Has anyone replaced their coils with new stock height coils? I'm trying to achieve a smoother ride. Truck is mostly a weekend warrior and not loaded heavy. NAPA has some for single cabs and extended cabs and I'm thinking of getting the single cabs for the reduced spring rate. I'm also running Ranch monotubes shock…

I made a trip today that's about an hour on the main highway and when I stopped I noticed my truck idling at about 900 (usually 800). Did a few errands and headed home and I got in the driveway, was idling at about i'll say 950, I shut the key off and the truck stayed running. I thought it was odd. so I went into the setting on my Edge to check to make sure the turbo cool down wasn't on. which it wasn't. Let the truck sit there for about a minute and then it shut itself down. No idea why it worked that way but more importantly, how can a person shut it down if it happens again and doesn't finally quit on it's own?

  5. I can't figure out why all of a sudden my fuel guage would start reading higher than normal. It's a cross the range. Doesn't start coming down off full for a longer time. Reading about 1/4 tank and taking 32 gallons. I could understand a float becoming fuel logged and not reading as high as it used to. But all of a sudden it's reading higher. Battery still charging at a constant 14.4 volts. Same as always. Is there a tank access mod through the bed in my future?

Just purchased a qaudzilla iqaud for my 01 Cummins. I'm just wondering if there are some good tunes to download without the pump tappes? I've got 125hp sac injectors, airdog 100gph, and a 62/68/14 turbo going on with them just not wire tapping right this min. Thank you!

Hello, I have the moparman Hi idle switch. It is an older model (fits in the cubby and has etched backing plate). The issue I am having is once I turn the switch on regardless of position is that CEL comes on and Temp gauge goes full over into red zone. Truck does not idle up or go into 3cyl mode. I did not have a chance to check what code it throws as result and just wondering if anyone has had this issue or knows what the problem is. Help would be appreciated as winter is pretty here in Canada and it is super nice to have the switch working. Thanks, Jon

What should have been a 15 minute maintenance job has turned into hours of frustration. Leave it to me. Putting in new suspensionmaxx end links and figured I’d replace the 22 year old sway bar bushings while I was at it. Measured my sway bar, 34mm. Ok, go to parts store, figure even they can’t mess up non critical bushings too bad. They send me home with a set. Huge gap, 5mm, called the parts store they said it’s normal. I’ve never done a feasibility study on polyurethane, but I don’t think these are right, no way they’ll torque closed. Even online all I can find are 30, 32, and sometimes 33mm bushings for these trucks. I. Really don’t think it’s an aftermarket bar. Anyo…

Well I got to admit I learned something and feel like a dumb arse... Ok years ago I stuck a piece of hardware mesh in front of the coolers to protect them from bug, stones, etc. What happened is the wind was flexing the screen and rubbing the A/C condenser. If we dig in the archives I'll admit I JB welded the rub marks thinking to protect the line from future damage. Well the damage was done. :banghead: I took the truck to Lewiston, ID to let a tech track down the leak for me. Found out R134A freon mocule is so small it passes through the JB weld epoxy and the tech found the green dye leeching through the JB weld. Sad part is the condenser and the high side pipe are both …

So I picked up a set of Ford Alcoa wheels recently and overall I'd say they are in nice shape. Clear coat is nice and no big scratches. They aren't perfect though and have a few spots where the white corrosion is coming through. I don't really want to strip the wheels completely right now so I'm looking to spot treat these areas to prevent it from spreading. So what to do? My thoughts were to wet sand these spots out with real fine steel wool and seal them. Not real sure what to seal them with or if there's a better process. I know there's plenty of neat freaks on here that know a thing or two about keeping things shiny.

  15. I don't do much on the forums anymore, but I thought somebody might benefit from documenting what I consider a proper radio installation for a 2nd generation Ram. Honestly it will probably be almost identical for any extended cab Ram. I purposely built this using materials anybody can get from the big box stores and truck stop radio supplies. Materials List: Qty 1: 3/4 in. x 36 in. Plain Steel Square Tube with 1/16 in. Thick Qty 1: 1 in. x 36 in. Plain Steel Flat Bar with 1/8 in. Thick Qty 1: 2 in. x 36 in. I've seen this a few times where people claim that cold weather will produce more drag on a vehicle just the cold dense air. So just for the fun of it I went and did the calculation on just the air drag part of it. Not factoring in other loses like fluid thickening... Here is the formulas I used Drag http://www.thefintels.com/aer/dragcalc.htm Air Density http://www.denysschen.com/catalogue/density.aspx Dodge Ram Specs including Drag Coefficient http://www.pickuptrucks.com/html/ram_specs.html So using local information and building a test bed on this. I think I could use a new truck... Seems like anytime I get in to drive my truck anymore, a gremlin has to come out of it. Winter decided to rear its ugly head and the switch got flipped. Suddenly, I'm getting DUMPED on with snow. No way im driving the little passat. So I jump in the truck, drive it to work yesterday morning. Now I get a little show on my dash of my speedo dancing around and the ABS and brake like coming on. It'll come on, turn off. Back and forth. I ordered a speed sensor for the transmission and rear diff. Which one could it be? Or is it something else?

When ever I drive my truck in the rain my water in fuel light will come on. It will then go off when I drive when its dry. Is there a sensor that gets wet and turns it on? Any suggestions?

  19. LED Lighting Parts List LED marker light LED Taillight Heavy duty LED flasher As for installing it just simple change of parts. The flasher is found in your driver side of the dash. If the flasher been there a while then it might be difficult to remove. Just take your time and work the flasher it will come out. Pull the stock flasher out and plug in the new flasher. As for the taillights you need a T25 screwdriver. There are 2 screws holding each taillight in place. The outside edge is a set of pins into the body. Need to be firm but careful and pull the light straight out. Top bulbs are your tail lights simply…
