Long story short, I'm rebuilding my 5.9 due to chronic head gasket failure (deck had issues.) Cracks were discovered on the edges of my cam lobes. Any real world experience with the Hamilton 178/208 cam? Hamilton recommends upgrading the valve springs and push rods. Realistically, is that needed when my maximum boost is 40 psi? This truck pulls 17,000 lbs worth of recreational toys (5th wheel & rock crawlers) and I'm not out to win any races. Looking at turbos down the road. My HX35 does good, but runs out of steam around 2600 RPM. 50 HP 7 x 0.008 injectors with an Edge Juice (changing to Quadzilla.)

Hey all, I am looking for some tunes. I live in Virginia, so I'm at sea level. I'm looking for a eco tune, daily tune, tow tune, street tune, and holy **** race tune. The truck is a 1999 dodge ram 2500. Mods done to it so far are F1 Mach 4 150HP injectors, ARP headstuds, Banks intake horn, Borg S362SXE, hamilton pushrods, aFe stage 2 cold air intake with a power driven diesel air filter, cal tracs, TRE stage 2 built transmission. AirDog 2 4G 165. Eventually it will have a compound turbo setup. I'm looking to get a solid 550-600 HP at the wheels.

So I am finally going to drill and tap for a egt probe this week. My question is should I start the truck or just let er rip and use a pen magent after I get the hole drilled? Wouldn't running the truck suck the shavings instead of blowing them out the hole? Just wondering what's my best plan of action as to not cost myself more later? I don't want to take the turbo off because I am sure the bolts will be wonderful to take off.

Had to change things up a bit when my used Hx35 showed up rusted as **** and the wastegate diagram was toast. Was going to be a 62/64/12. Everything new now. 62/67/12. Will be assembling tomorrow and hopefully installing it.

Looking for some advice, about to pull the trigger on the purchase of a FASS 165 lift pump. Currently the trucks fuel system is completely stock with the stock lift pump being in the engine bay still. Do I need 1/2" fuel hose or does the kit come with it? I keep seeing "big line" kits on @dieselautopower website and want to make a single purchase and not regret having a better supply/return system. I've read that other members are using their stock fuel filter in conjunction w/FASS lift pump system, is this correct as any added protection I want to take advantage of? Would I require a "Big Line" kit if I went this route vs. just using whatever FASS…

I have a 2001 3500 dually 4x4 quad cab long bed, stock tire size, nv4500 5 speed with 3:55 gears. What is the average fuel milage expected from these trucks? The only "mods" done that I know of are a FASS ddrp pump in factory location and the exhaust has been replaced but nothing crazy. I measured the tailpipe it's 4" but have not measured the rest under the truck yet. So to my knowledge it's pretty bone stock with 141k on the clock. Last I checked I was at about 15mpg. Mainly to and from work, about a 20 Mile drive, about 5 of that is considered city the rest is state route 60mph or highway about 65mph. Just curious if I'm around the norm for what I have. Tha…

Hey Guys, as you know I'm one of a few guys running a modified truck around here with larger injectors popped to 322BAR. So far the truck is running 100HP injectors a Dynamic Valve Body, and a Smarty. Current Smarty Settings are SW#7 TM3, T3,D4. The truck runs fairly well, and there is no smoke unless you really try. Even so its a light haze when passing. Ive played with the Timing and TM settings, and can say both have caused stalling issues at varying temperatures. However the stalling is alleviated significantly when you put the truck into Reverse for 30 seconds, then drop it into gear. I have over 2,000 miles now under my belt with these injec…

So I'm debating the mystery switch install since I'm laid off for the next few....days weeks whatever. Does anyone have a video of actually driving using a mystery switch. Not the install. That actual daily driving on camera. Think that'll help the wife understand when BusterBrown starts leaving packages on the porch.

I've seen some prices pretty cheap on Amazon. Anyone have any experience with these? https://www.amazon.com/BLACKHORSE-RACING-Silicone-Intercooler-1994-1995-Diesel/dp/B07TXF9311/ref=pd_ybh_a_12?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=8RGVYV2MFSTY2SPKSAPP&th=1

If the Quadzilla Adrenaline V2 software takes complete control of the vp44, what would happen if I flashed the ecm with my superchips flashpaq programmer and put the quad above level 0? Would anything happen or would the quad still keep it's custom timing and/or fueling? I'm just curious as to what would happen and want to see the difference in timing. It would be neat to have the programmer on level 0 and the quad on anything above that.

I'm having an issue and hope someone can help me understand how the Quad determines what gear the truck is in. I made a vacuum solenoid thing to jack up line pressure when the exhaust brake is on. When the exhaust brake is on it pulls the TV lever back to increase line pressure. Tried it out once. I have since disconnected it but now when i stop with shifter in "D" Quad shows "L". Take off from a stop and Quad shows something like L-3-4-3-1-2-3-4. It felt once like it did a 2nd gear start but only did it 1 time. Now it feels like it is shifting correctly but Quads gear indicator is all over the place. In park, neutral, and reverse Quad shows "L" I checked line pres…

I have gone down in tire size from 35 inch tires to now a 265/70R17 on third gen steelie rims. Even though my final ratio is closer now it seems like I still can't break over 19mpg tank average. My average overall with 35 inch tires was around 18-18.5 and now it seems like my average has gone up just a little to 18.7-18.9. I've been playing around with the timing still on the quad but no matter what timing I'm at it seems like it really doesn't make a difference. I'm at 1870 rpms @ 65mph and that's the speed I drive at most of the time. The only thing I can think of is my rotating mass. The 35's were on 17 inch alluminum rims and these other tires are on the steel ones. I…

Hi all. I am new to this group. Thanks in advance for any help. The truck is an 2001 Ram 3500 6 speed manual 5.9L 24 valve cummins, totally stock except for a Fass lift pump. The power is down about 60% sometimes. It feels like a half dead pedal. The power is fine or down 60%, never in between. The problem started occurring once a week, then 3 times a week, then twice a day, then most of the time. Now it is down on power almost all the time. This was over about a six month period. I can, sometimes, achieve full power if I rev the engine past 2500 RPM. No difference hot or cold. No exhaust smoke. No codes stored, using the key on three times technique to check. 14PSI at th…

I have some surface rust in different areas of my 2001 3500. I have tried to address some of it once and failed, the rust came back in a month or so. I used a wire wheel to remove any loose light rust, had pretty clean metal when finished, sprayed 2 coats of "rust converter" to stop any that wasn't removed. Then sprayed 2 coats of primer over that. The rust came back. I am not a body man but did this happen because I did not apply paint to seal the repair? I thought the primer would do that but I guess I was wrong. One day I would like to repaint the truck but for now I just want to do some touch up and fix any thing I can to keep her looking decent. Tha…

What type of mpgs can I see with 7x0.010 if I have a light foot? I just ordered a set from DAP and am going to replace my 50hp injectors that I got years ago from diesel speed shop. The best fuel economy I have gotten with them lately is 18-19 hand calculated at the pump. I'm very very light on the throttle and usually the slowest on the road cruising at 60. I could have sworn that when I first got those that I hand calc'd near 20-21 but can't seem to get those figures anymore. Also had the pressures set to 310 bar at a local shop and they told me that 2 were starting to leak but that it shouldn't affect fuel economy and might only be a bit smokey on startup (which is wha…

Can the quadzilla tuning on a v2 fall out of the ECM if the truck sits for a long time, battery cables got disconnected possibly, and the tablet that the tunes are on hasn't been fired up? My trucks been at a shop and I'm trying to see if the tunes may have fallen out of the ECM.

My son and I spent about 3.5 hours out in the garage today putting on some new cables from Geno's Garage (supplied by CustomBatteryCables.com). I know, I probably could of got them cheaper if I made them myself but a late night of shopping for one of the one touch oil drains and somehow those cables made it into my cart too They are a really nice set of cables with all the lugs already preinstalled. They even included rubber covers to go over the terminals but with all the additional wires I didn't put these on all of the cables. They even have some grease and anti-corrosion pads in the box. The cables are thicck (with 2 c's) and don't bend too well. It …
