I did and it was suposed to be cut to fit and basicly glued to the old one I sent it back thinking I could find a better mount with no avail does any one know of a pod that just replaces the stock one and clips in where the stock one did is this possible or am I asking to much

Hey everyone I was wanting some info on the gear splitters? I know it gives you an over gear just like the big boys. my confusion is who makes them? are they available for 4x4 applications? can they stand up to the torque? Are they actually worth the money? thanks in advance for all the info BTW this forum is 10 x's simpler than the others

Would I have any luck painting the back half of my turbo and the turn down elbow on the back of the turbo to the exhaust pipe. Mine is pretty rusty. Does the temperature of these items typically exceed the ability of high temperature paint?

After much back and forth arguing i decided to do a full build, my new job assignment more or less requires a truck that is 4wd capable, reliable and gets great MPG.and as such my 99 is well suited minus the missing trans. The problem is the job is in Philly, which is nothing but traffic, mostly going home that is, i'll sit in traffic for the first hour of my drive, once i get out of the construction zone im all good and its highway speeds from there. After a failed attempt at a shift kit install, i sent the kit back to DTt with my VB, where they have been sitting for a few months.I decided to just get a built transmission, i decided on DTT since they already have the shift…

  6. So if your running a junky edge comp or juice and want just a little more fun, this is what smoke out put you can expect with a 90hp 7x.0085 VCO injector from DAP. Clean burning and sensible injector for a well balanced rig. Pop pressure on this truck is 300bar. Truck setup: 99 model year, fass 95, edge juice (same program as comp), 4” exhaust, HX35W, garbage jasper trans, triple disc, 4.10 gear. this specific truck doesn’t have the pump tap installed due to a new VP44 installed so this is just stock, level 1/sub 1 and level 2/sub 1 for low smoke and smooth acceleration to keep traction under control. With levels 3-4-5-6 with the pump tap of cours…

I had a check engine light come on. Been threatening to buy a ScanGauge, so since I had no way to read or delete codes I bought one today. Popped a P0234...boost too high code. I had just passed a truck on a grade, the transmission kicked down to lockup out of overdrive. If I had control id not let it kick down. So I know when it happened. Good news is that's the only code that had been stored. That's a relief. Now I'm working on calibrating and playing with various settings. Do you think the boost reading is accurate? Says 13 at idle. Water temp fluctuates quite a bit. 188-212* in town stop and go. So maybe indicates that my radiator can't keep up with t…

Well my last order was to order some filter from Vulcan Performance. I got a BHAF and a few fuel filters for the AirDog. Eric being the nice guy asked me "How are my intercooler boots doing?" I told him there stock boots yet and no problems. He asked if I wanted to try a set of his VP "VulCan Performance" boots... I said why not...As for installing them. Not that is a good challenge... I used a good amount of WD40 and lubed them up to slide them over the fittings. So since they are thicker boots they don't flex like the old stockers. So you got to slide them over the far enough so you slide back over the mating fitting. Once again keep them lubed up so they slide for you.…

Dieselfuture is the one who first brought it to my attention of greasing the front hub bearings thru the ABS sensor hole. Now on my third front hub replacement yesterday in a couple years to both my 2nd gens you tend to get tired of the expense and time. I was only in there to replace the brake pads and discovered a rough spot in the wheel hub bearing. The only way to tell was to turn by hand with the wheel, the caliper and rotor off because just a few weeks earlier I had checked for looseness in the wheels, so on I went with a new Timken hub. This time they got me for over 300 bucks because I needed one right away to be up and running by Monday. Now before re…

  11. Here is a tidbit I found that sheds a bit of light on the grid heater element. https://goodsonengineering.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/FiresCausedbyFracturedResistanceHeatingElements.pdf In Photo 1, we note that the coils (loops) of this element are relatively uniformly spaced. Such uniform spacing creates a relatively constant surface temperature for the element. At 240 VAC, with a fan blowing (as in actual use), surface temperatures were approximately 470 deg F when measured with a thermocouple. This temperature, however, will lessen as the heater element is used. A nominal 5000 watt heater will drop in wattage (and thus heat output) as a function of …

I've seen a million of these guage install forum posts and I hate to start another one but Im kind of partial to this forum and the diesel truck site forum. I have a boost guage, fuel pressure guage, trans temp guage and an EGT guage. Its going in my 98 24 valve (which isnt running yet because Im waiting for my VP44 and lift pump). Im just looking for pointers here and there. things to do and not to do...etc. Just little tricks that people have learned over the years - - - Updated - - - Thanks for your help stodge73...you always seem to pull through for me....lol

So I have tried searching through posts on whats recommended. Ive been considering an edge monitor or pillar guages. I'm not really sold on quad because of connectivity issues and not having another device besides my phone to use. I use phone for music and handsfree so bluetooth would be tied up anyway. My questions with edge are; do they really monitor fuel pressure if so would it be before the injection pump where it matters? Also if it doesn't I'm assuming thats going to add to the price when you are already at 560 with monitor and EGT probe. I was also looking into diesel manor guage sets because they seemed pretty comprehensive but reviews lea…

I'm looking to get new tires and thanks to @Mopar1973Man and few other reviews I'm thinking about getting these Hankook ATm in 265/70/17 E rated. Currently I have Toyo Open Country at2 in 285/70/17 and they are OK tire, but not as good as its hyped up. I had one crack in between tread on me in a first month of ownership, but it's been 4 years now and the crack hasn't grown. I put same set on my work truck f350 (265/70/17) and they are almost gone after 25k, and have some tiny cracks all over them, like they are 10 years old. What made me lean this direction to go smaller is few things. One is I got a used set of rims and tires of 03 with some junky 265/70/17 BF …

  16. This past weekend was the first camping trip of the season... and first hauling since a lot work was done over the winter. First thing.. With new track bar and Redhead.. It was such a pleasure to not have 2 inches of play in the steering wheel while pulling the camper! Secondly, the deep trans pan and gauge is a nice addition. Although I have no idea what the temp was before.. the temp never rose above 135 towing and it's nice to be able to monitor it. Third.. I am finding this Smarty to be an improvement for my application over the Edge Comp Drag. Where I could easily/quickly see high boost and EGT temps with the Edge last year... not…

So this problem has been eating away at me for a while now. Ever since I bought this truck almost 2 years ago, it has always had a hard shift problem. It almost feels like the clutch doesn't release fully right away. I figured it was the stock hydro's going out. I replaced them with the valair HD set from DAP. It definitely helped the problem but it hasn't completely gone away. I thought at first maybe the tranny is just starting to wear out being it has over 200k on it, but it feels exactly the same in every gear. I tried adjusting the clutch pedal out farther so it gets more travel and pushes the clutch more. Still feels like the clutch isn't releasing all the way at fi…

I need 4 new ball joints and 4 new tie rod ends at 65,000 miles. About 20,000 miles is carrying a 3,000 lb camper on the back. Could that do it? It's unbelievable to me too.Anyone ever heard of that before?
