Gang, I got to looking up latter and traction bars and came across these: http://www.tuffcountry.com/miscellaneous/traction-bars.html I was wondering is anyone is running a set and if they do anything?? I like the idea of them not hanging down below the frame and they are pretty cheap. I don't plan to race/pull on a daily basis, I just want to help with the hop when I play around every now and then. Also might help when pulling trailer? Any feedback would be great!! Thanks, Winslow

Hi all, So I want to replace my trailer connector plug and clean up this wiring. Now just throwing on a new plug would be no big deal, but I want to figure all this out and clean it up. I know that whole bunch of wires thats hanging on the right was installed to run up to the bed for a gooseneck connector. Im planning to leave that as is because I may pull a gooseneck in the future, unless someone can suggest a better way of wiring that? What I don't know is, what is that short white wire up at the top thats capped off, and what should I do with it? What is the long black wire thats capped off? What is the lighter gauge wire with the red one …

So after much frustration and $$$ My front end is all squared away and the steering is as it should be. Tie rods, ball joints, Sealed adjustable solid track bar, leveling kit, wearable joints ect. Along with all the interior and body parts replaced. Would like to do control arms to match the 2.5" leveling spacers angle but back to the point on hand... I can finally start spending on the tranny/performance. First off, my Nv4500 is in decent shape, drives very well. But is not brand new anymore... Before I go out and try to find a clutch should I be dropping the tranny and checking everything before thinking about a clutch flywheel or anything else? I read this http://ww…

Hey guys, got me an edge comp, again! 98whitelightnin had an edge comp left over after his p7100 swap and was patient enough to wait for me to get the funds to him to get it from him! Shout out to you, buddy! :hyper:I have a couple questions for the rest of you guys' though.1. The box is a gold color. I'm confused? The one I used to own was a black color. Does this mean anything?2. I got rid of my edge comp after I rebuilt my tranny. Trans shop owner told me to get rid of it as I will smoke my tranny if I use it again. Although after reading, I kicked myself for getting rid of it as it showed to benefit me.But now, after having the tranny rebuilt and pulling my toyhauler,…

Ive been trying to research this and not getting the answers im looking for. Is it worth getting those coolers that is offered on Genos Garage for the nv5600? I dont tow much weight when i do to atleast for now. Once in a while i might tow 10k but thats in a blue moon. I am going to be changing fluids soon and will add the extra quart or two and just want to know if it really is worth it. Also im hearing different things about fluids and shifting smoother. Some say royal purple and other amsoil or redline. Any input on thatThanks

My local Dodge trans expert is telling me that they can make modifications to the 47RE, but there aren't many ways to increase the line pressure a lot... At least, without making it very finicky. He said shift kits really are smoke and mirrors in regards to line pressure, as the computer will regulate things itself. He said you can increase the line flow rate but not significantly increase line pressure. He is looking right at 3200 for a rebuild with billet input, 2500 without billet input and billet single clutch tq converter. His modifications he lists are very much in line with what CajFlynn recommends and what Tim Holt recommends, aside from one thing. …

Heydumb question - but curious on ideasOne of the bolts at back of my transfercase is leaking more ATF. Its one of the black hex bolts that holds the tail housing (where rear drive shaft goes into) to the main part of the TC. So what are easy fixes options ?? Was thinking1) New bolt ....... *shrug* might provide a better seal2) Some gasket maker ?? But thinking most will come out when I torque it down ? 3) Some thread tape ?? Seems to be a good seal elsewhere with no leaks .......

My Husband and I purchased our truck in early 2007 as his work vehicle (he was a custom home builder) and needed to be able to haul trailers/ materials etc.At the time I drove a new Subaru Outback, which we ended up selling fairly quickly bc of major electrical problems, and replaced with an 02 GMC Yukon that one of my insurance clients had purchased brand new and basically hadn't used bc he drove his work truck and really only bought the Yukon so he could write off his truck? I am not sure... anyhow he sold it to us with only 20K mile on it in 09 now the yukon has 140k on it and the tranny blew... I could rebuild it as I did our truck last winter however I am just not th…

I have 130, 000 miles on the truck in my sig with the stock transmission. The transmission doesn't seem to be slipping, but if I upgrade to 100 hp sticks can I get away with just a converter and valve body from a reputable company like dtt.

Bought truck a couple of months back and am not happy with towing performance, so planning on upgrading injectors to add some more power. Might go 100 hp, just need to decide on type and size. Probably will need a tuner of some type too, leaning towards the Quadzilla Adrenaline. I believe the trans has been built, it does have a billet converter, but that is all I know about it. Might drop the pan and see if I can find out more about it. 47RE trans, shifts well, firm and no hunting, but just wondering if it is normal for rpms to drop back to 900 when coasting. 4.10 rear end, running 265/80/17 rubber.

Just had my transmission gone through by a local specialist. Had all wearing components/solenoids replaced, shift kit, and single disc lower stall billet cover torque converter installed. I've noticed a substantial improvement in drivability; in town it acts as if the truck lost 2K lbs! The tighter TC makes all the difference in the world - I'm well pleased. The transmission man threw all my old components in a box & gave them to me - nothing burned up but approaching the wear limits (177k miles). One thing I've noticed that is different is that the idle rpm is slightly lower & EGT runs a bit higher when idling in gear, like at a stop light. Guess that is to be ex…

I'm stuck on a topic that I see a lot on 2nd gens, especially moving up in horsepower. Beef up the transmission, upgrade the tranny, etc. What is the most practical option to do this? I'm looking to get to the 500hp range. Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hey guy last night while on the way home I was fooling around with a duramax and suddenly my trucks engine died and I had to pull over off the highway. Still had power to all lights all my gauges and everything. My fuel PSI went to 0 at that time my pressure sensor is about 6 inches from going into the VP and my fass 150 is less than a year old. Idk how it would fail but I’m not sure what the issue is or what could have caused it. Anybody have an idea? I’ve loosedned injector lines 1-3-5 and have fuel squirting out when trying to fire. Any help would be great especially with the work week starting tomorrow!

Hey guys last month my fiancé and I had a gender reveal for our little girl we are having in August. We thought a burn out in my truck would be a cool idea for revealing the sex of the baby, I did a hand full of practice runs and on the 2nd and 3rd practice runs my truck would die when I got off the gas. I had to crack 3 injectors lines and reprime the fuel lines. Then it fires back up. It also happened when we did the burn out for the gender reveal and also happened when racing a Duramax, it took him quiet a while to catch back up but he also got to tow me home. Any ideas on why I would lose fuel pressure like that? I didn’t think with my upgrades I would out run the sto…

I am suspicious that I might have a fuel bleed down between lift pump & engine. I've noticed oily spot on the ground where truck was parked this winter. I'm not able to get under the truck myself anymore... as per my signature have AD 150 & big rubber lines.

I feel like I should be knocking on wood. I've had no problems with my truck for ages. Feel like the preventive maintenance is paying off! Thanks to you guys and this site for helping me to see potential troubles and what to do about them! Side note...had to remove my studded tires this past week and got some new Toyo's. I am liking the 3rd gen 17" wheels. Cheap bling. Got used ones from a classified ad. Two sets so I have a set for studs and a set for regular tires.

I cleaned the radiator and intercooler but it still run to hot I think. Is this normal to run that hot or am i just . Thanks
