I know there was some talk on here about the 45 watt Solar Panel kit that Harbor Freight sales. In the flyer I got in the mail they have a sale on these, with a coupon, for $ 140. Here is the kit http://www.harborfreight.com/45-watt-solar-panel-kit-68751-8527.html For those that have used it, do you still like it and thing it is worth the money?

I'm thinking of getting a travel trailer to live in while I build a house, somewhat long term, maybe 2 years. Any recommendations? Spending about 20k, just for just me for now. I have no idea what to look for or stay away from, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, John

Well back when my ex and I were splitting I let someone else (a local big Trailer sales and service place) repack my bearings on my horse trailer as I had other things on my front burner and they needed to be done... I will let the pictures speak for themselves.... I cleaned the old bearings in some Colman fuel but alas, the bearings are toast and need to buy new ones Soooooo, This is why I hate letting anyone work on my vehicles

All, I am in the market for a new enclosed car / cargo hauler trailer. I need to buy one before my next move in the spring. I will start by saying that I tow very slow and gentle. I am not one of those 80mph guys with a trailer. I am looking for something fairly large >24ft body but not unmanageable. I am limiting myself to bumper pull for this trailer. The trailer will stay on roads, but will see some dirt roads. I want something stout, ramp gate, able to fill with crap or a heavy old Chrysler and a bunch of tools and parts without worrying about the frame, axles, or whatever. 8 lug axles would be nice, and the wheels would interchange with most …

I am no tire expert by any means but was told this second hand info, so take it for what its worth. lol A guy bought a trailer second hand and it had been barely used maybe 4 years old. He took it on a 300 mile round trip to haul some propane tanks ends up blowing 6 new tires that came with the trailer, the two that didn't blow had already been replaced. Tire sales man told him there is a active ingredient in the rubber that if not used will cause tire to break down the cord and come apart.

I've been thinking for some time a TPM system sounds like a good idea, especially one with heat sensing. I wondered which system, the inside wheel or valve stem cap was better, and what brands have been the easiest to setup and use and is most dependable. I tried a thread search but couldn't find anything but I may not have done it right either. Anyway thanks for the ideas.

I bought a well used Pace enclosed trailer from a friend who was getting out of re-encting... I paid 600$. It has about a 10 foot long box, but not real wide. The fender width is barely wider than the truck... maybe an inch on each side. A single side swing door on the rear. During my adventures last summer, I had to tie tarps over my electric mobility scooter when traveling because I had only open trailers except for the huge toy hauler/camper... I know the scooter electronics are not waterproof. So I'm thinking an enclosed trailer is a step forward. Yes, this trailer turned out to be more of a fixer-upper than I expected... Surprise! Seems that way with eve…

I took my boys fishing Fontenelle Reservoir in southwest Wyoming over the past several days and wanted to give my opinion on the batteries that I recently put in my trailer. In July I bought 2 Energizer EGC2-122 (6V/232 amp hour) batteries from Sam's Club. I have taken the trailer out a couple of times since I bought them but only for a couple of days at a time. We spent 5 days and 4 nights in camp with no ability to recharge the batteries (I don't have a generator or solar panels, yet.) I was nervous about them lasting the trip so I tried to be as conservative as possible and as much as 2 young boys will allow. The highs were in the 50's and 60's but the lows wer…

Hello all! I'm the new owner of a 1990 HI-LO 25 footer. I know nothing about campers. I didn't even know it went up and down til the guy put it down for me to tow. The roof needs repaired and it is like a fabric rubber coated looking material. What would you guys use to recoat? I'm sort of favoring doing the worse spots with Eternabond tape and then Koolseal over it all. The Koolseal supposedly comes in a formula for non metal roofs but I couldn't find it. Sound like a plan? I have A LOT to learn here so I'll take all suggestions. Thanks

I found evidence of a mouse in my trailer. I was going to go through with a can of expanding foam but was wondering if rodents will chew through that and eventually make their way back in. Thoughts?

I've go a 23' travel trailer, bumper pull. Id love to have a bigger trailer. Sometimes I want a smaller one. But as long as you're towing a piece of plywood down the road, where is the line where you start using a lot more fuel. The wind resistance is already there. So how much bigger can I go without seeing a big jump in fuel consumption and stress on the tow vehicle? Currently 7,000# GVW.

Neighbor down the road from me hooked me up with a gent in New Meadows, ID that sells salvaged firewood from logging operations. The load above is all spruce and it sold for $75 a cord and there is roughly 2 cords on the trailer. Nice. I'm planning on doing it again!

Finally! got the 'green light' from the Manufacturer... THE PAINT WAS DRY!!! Ordered a 16' bumper pull livestock trailer for my FiL, and a new flatbed for the '00 Ram... Both are Circle D, made in Hillsboro Kansas. They've been back ordered since June.. Lets just say, this was NOT the most aerodynamically way to haul! This was a 140 mile trip one way, and used 10 gallons to get there, and 20 to get home. notice the sliver of Toyota pickup on left border... ha ha. and the Wally world 2 stroke jug on ground..

Well back at it again. Buddy down the road called me this morning and wanted to haul firewood. I was considering just buying a few cords but being the waiting list is too long. I'll just hop out and get a load. So hook up with him this morning...

Thinking of upgrading my truck to something newer. Can I tow my fifth wheel with a short bed meaning the 6 1/2ft bed? Not really wanting to buy a new sliding hitch. It is hard to find a 1 ton long bed srw around here. Would I benifit going to the 1ton over a 3/4 ton? I have heard there is only like 500lbs difference in capacity. Thanks

My buddy had a power steering pump issue on the way camping, so I took his camper and gear the last 30 miles. He scaled 13,300 that morning in an 07 QC DRW. I am pretty sure I was pushing 14K with 9K on the rear axle. I could only get the air to 94psi with my OBA (I need a new pressure switch), but never topped 20 mph.

I snaked the little wires from my installed digital DC volt meter... The display is under the sink on a toggle. The circuit breaker (AC) & fuse (DC) converter is in the kick space below this. I wired it to an open fuse (why is it open... only a few of the 9 slits are in use?) It didn't work. I unfastened my connections, clip lead to the DC mains, it works. Whew! I didn't toast the unit. Yes, same unit with salvage title. We are not RVing with it, we stick to the basics. Lights, fridge, stove, furnace, water. I shut the AC breakers off when I was working... DC shut off is on the bottom of the box on the tongue (3 group 24 RV batteries). I am think…

The trailer I bought came with an Eaz lift. It came with 500# bars. How do you size the bars? Gross trailer weight is 7,000# and 23' in length.

Hi guys, I was wondering about the installation of 5th wheel hitches on the 2002 3500 duallies - are there any specific problems to watch out for? I have taken a barely used hitch out of my '86 F250 and want to install it in the Dodge. I do have the spray in Rhino liner in the box if that matters at all. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance mariner
