Wife went out to check the camper. Despite the new roof covering, there is water leaking from the skylight and the wall near that window. It could be leaking from either place or both? Once the water gets inside the ceiling... it could run anywhere. I dug out the guy's number but am not going to ruin his Thanksgiving... I'll ruin his Friday instead. *&^%$#!

These are the highest load rating 14" tires I've been able to find and at a good price. $100 with free shipping. These are load D and 65 psi tires. 8 ply. There are only a handful of load range D tires out here and I feel a reasonable cost. I was thinking about going to a 15" wheel to get more options, but these fit my needs. 15" wheels turns out won't work for me. Not enough space between axles to allow for larger wheels. Especially if you needed to use chains for snow.

Somewhere in my big book of projects, I need to redo the wiring on my car trailer. Just a plain old 18' hauler. I know the wiring schematic, just looking for ideas on execution. Not sure if I want to add a breakaway switch or not. I probably should. One idea is to put a 7 way connector on the trailer like the truck and have a doulbe male ended patch cord to connect the 2. No hanging wires to catch. If I get 7 conductor trailer cable, I basically have to cut the jacket off at the axles to pull the brake wires out then just run the remaining wires for the lights. Or I could get a parallel pair for the brakes and the 4 conductor wire for the lights. I might also need a 7 st…

  4. Hi, I want to install a Model 1394 B&W Hidden Gooseneck Hitch pictured under the bed on my truck. The truck has aftermarket airbags which I did not install and know nothing about. Former owner had a slide in camper. . The brackets on top of air bags interfere with me installing the side rails for the Hitch. There are 2 bolts on each side of each brackets. My thoughts were to put 1/4 plates between the brackets to bring them out 1/4" so the Hitch side rails will go behind. Good/Bad idea? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Leaky

My buddy had a power steering pump issue on the way camping, so I took his camper and gear the last 30 miles. He scaled 13,300 that morning in an 07 QC DRW. I am pretty sure I was pushing 14K with 9K on the rear axle. I could only get the air to 94psi with my OBA (I need a new pressure switch), but never topped 20 mph.

I have trouble in heavy rains... the window tracks fill with water & overflow into the interior. I've mentioned this before, in passing, but I don't see that I addressed this specifically. Some I have answers to... others, I need all the help I can get!The first one I tackled because I had to. On the left at the head of our bed, the non-opening "escape hatch" window, filled the track with water, overflowing & attempting to float our bed. It is hinged at the top & pull the red handle the bottom pushes out. BUT the entire framed window is outside the window frame set into the RV skin. So the window sticks out. Rain off the roof cascades over it, gets…

I bought a new 7 pole RV plug for the trailer project. I wired it all up. The &^%$#! plug would not go into the trailer receptacle on my 01 truck. I don't have the packaging but think it came from WalMart or Harbor Freight. The noticeable thing about it is the silver (plated) contacts which extend beyond the cutouts in the plug body. I tried beveling edges, went over it with a digital caliper... every dimension is +.001 strong. I removed the round center pin just to try but still no go. After taking the wires out, I was able to force it into the socket... but I'm not going to use it. Before I went to the store, I looked in a box with my spare brake controll…

  8. Hi all I have a 1998 Fleetwood Southwind sitting on a 1999 ford F52 Chassis. I have the V10 6.8L SOHC 20V motor I need to figure out which relay goes to my fuel pump. Does anyone happen to have any knowledge or a manual for this vintage of F53 Motorhome Chassis electrical system? I'm specifically looking for a diagram for the following items: 1) Diagram for Power Distribution Box under the hood 2) Diagram for fuse panel in the driver's side cockpit under the dash I can't seem to find this info anywhere on the web.

  10. I bought a well used Pace enclosed trailer from a friend who was getting out of re-encting... I paid 600$. It has about a 10 foot long box, but not real wide. The fender width is barely wider than the truck... maybe an inch on each side. A single side swing door on the rear. During my adventures last summer, I had to tie tarps over my electric mobility scooter when traveling because I had only open trailers except for the huge toy hauler/camper... I know the scooter electronics are not waterproof. So I'm thinking an enclosed trailer is a step forward. Yes, this trailer turned out to be more of a fixer-upper than I expected... Surprise! Seems that way with eve…

so i weighed the trailer i tow for camping, it's was 90% loaded. and well under what i had thought it would be at, but still i'm not sure how one gets the GCVW rating? i see several number in the door sticker on my truck. what/how do i calculate to see what i can tow.... now this was minus 1/2 the food, and no firewood. so i'd guesstimate another 800 lb or so. and only one tank of propane not the 2 we usually have. so i still think i'm about 800-1000 lb under what would be a normal load going camping or hunting for a week.

When we bought this trailer I was against having electric brakes. Since we got it I find lots uses to tow light stuff behind the pickup. Trailer is to heavy and tongue heavy to tow much more then a skidsteer I use it to haul 33ft top rail for building fence today I'm going to pick up a pile of trailer house axles I bought along with some trailer tongues. I think this trailer weighs 9000lbs empty. (Think ) tag on trailer is unreadable. also have a gooseneck but I'm not always around it so this is often handy for what I'm doing.

  14. Cajflynn wanted to see pics of my summer time pride and joy, I spend every second I can get on it during our 4 months of great boating weather! Just did a 400 mile round trip with my 22' travel trailer. The tires are original cheap 2 ply with 32 psi max inflation. Not happy about taking it offroad as we did to a bear hunting camp location on a landing overlooking a clear cut. Absolutely great spot for privacy and beauty. We could sit in camo chairs and glass for bears, deer and elk. Anyway, my question. Obviously with some 6 ply or greater offroad LT tires I'd get better braking traction and puncture resistence. We were lucky and didn't get a flat. But could I also expect a slight increase in fuel economy with tires inflated to say 55#? Sidewalls on current tires roll quite a bit when turning and puncture inevit…

  17. I'm planning to get some needed work done on the Toyhauler. There has been leakage in the front compartments & the interior walls in the front compartment seem to have wet through. I found a local business who rolls out a liquid rubber roof... after reseating roof fixtures. Aofter 4th of July, it's going in.At the same time, I'm wanting to replace the faded (& possibly leaking) running lights with new, preferably LED. I have to disassemble one & see what the hole spacing is. I'd like to put low edge turn lights on also. There's a good access point in a trailer plug in the rear for a (now gone) rear platform that had lights... but an easy tap point for …

  18. I have to admit I'm from the boat world... which shares systems with campers but not the shell. This Trailer was a mistake. Besides the lack of title (which I should have walked away right there)... so the trailer can not be properly registered. The last title was a SALVAGE title out of California... and there are obivious signs of repairs. Besides all that... there has been a steady stream of problems. The biggest is the roof leaks & even after having a rubber roof put on ($1000), continues to leak. The leakage has apparently run down... and continues to run down... inside the walls, causing a bunch of problems. There are leaks in the main bed room, w…

First, It has been a long time since I have torn into an engine. I had to have the head on my atv milled. I wasn't paying attention when I pulled out the push rods. I was putting the head back on and noticed the push rod difference. The top of the push rod looks machined into a half circle. First question, is this normal? If so, which valve is it for? Second question, if it is not normal will the missing part fall directly into the oil pan? Before I tore it down the engine had no power, I could see puffs of smoke come out of the head and the block. Hence the milling. Trying to figure out if I need to rebuild or put a new engine into the atv. …
