The temperature here is 75 and falling. We are experiencing rain, hail, and flash flood warnings. Michael is on a Search&Rescue assignment in the White Water Wilderness area at about 6000 feet. Very rugged terain and the weather is working against them. Do not know how many the search is for but they have been missing for over 24 hours. Up there it can get cold. Say a prayer for all. Yesterday afternoon we lost power so I was helping a friend install gauges in his truck. So when the power went out I rushed home to shutdown the A/C and water heater. On my way back down to my friends place I was thinking I bet the fire tones go off. So I tell my friend that its going to happen sure enough the tones go out for a power line fire. I'm less than a 1/4 mile ride with my ATV to the fire station. Off and running. I picked up Engine 11 and proceeded to the fire. Long story short my quick actions of getting there first and knocking down the fire kept it down to about 1 acre. USFS was highly impressed. Then I get home there is still no power but the inverter …

Up here in Idaho there is several places that are going to reach above 100*F mark today and the next few days. Then on the other hand please folk be careful with the use of fire. Also please take the time and look over your vehicles and fix any leaks you have. I've just seen a nasty vehicle fire that was a total loss. It could of been cause by leaking fuel or engine we'll never know but lets work together to protect your vehicles and families from harm.

Went up to a UKC/HRC retriever test up in Horicon, WI yesterday. Twas running 2 dogs: 1 in "started" and the other in "finished". Started is the "basic" test and 4 passes are required for a title. Finished is the "big dog" test and when accruing the passes at started, seasoned and then at finished............or accruing the points required if you skipped the prior, your dog earns the champion title. My little 3.5 legged chocolate lab female dog passed her 4th test at started to earn her STARTED HUNTING RETRIEVER title. My other chocolate lab passed her 4th finished level test to earn her HUNTING RETRIEVER CHAMPION title!!! Here's a picture of the girls wi…

Hey everyone! Just wanted to throw up a quick thread to apologize for my absence around here! Things have been really hectic the last few months! In a good way though! My wife and I found out were having our first baby, we bought a house and I got a promotion at work so all in all, I can't complain! Anyways, I'm going to do my best to catch up with things here, and definitely try and make it around these parts more often. Matt

Seeing this post here got me to thinking about creating a thread where we can all share engine/vehicle carnage we have experienced. I'll start out with some pictures from the latest engine failure that I worked on, Had one of the trucks with a ISX lose oil pressure and of course all kinds of bad things happened then...

I invested in making some changes for the office area. I got us a two computer desk measures 72" x 24". The desk has a cord tray under the table top to keep all the cords and cables from being seen hanging. Then stopped by Home Depot and picked up a sheet of 1/4" plywood. Then JAG1 had a can of gunstock red stain left over from his project. That was just enough in that can to stain the sheet of plywood. The sheet of plywood is $25 for a 4' x 8' piece where chair pads at roughly $45 a piece at Staples. So now with the new desk I can have my indoor veggie garden started.

  14. The full eclipse is going to happen very near Mopar Mans place, within an hours drive anyhow. This doesn't happen often so I thought maybe some of you would be interested in what we might call Mopar Mans Eclipse meet and greet. Mike knows a great place.... I followed him there and camped there. It's doubly good since it's east of the mountains with not much for clouds, no high mountains that would block the full impact of darkness during mid day. Schedule this out far enough like this and everyone interested could set it in concrete to go. What say you?

Went on a road trip to Yellowstone this month. It took me 2½ days to drive from SoCal to the Fishing Bridge campground, about 1,100 mi. Stayed 5 days taking in the sights and probably could have stayed another 5 if I had the time. There is so much to see and the people working the visitor centers, stores, and campground were as nice as could be. I think that was because we got there the 8th of May which was the first day the park was open for the summer season. There were no crowds and the help wasn't burned out. We went out the south entrance and right into the Grand Teton National Park. Another gem in our National Park catalog. The valley is flat and wide and offers gr…

This the first year that I have not seen any honey bees. Kind weird. Is there a reason for them to be completely gone in one area and then still be around in another town?
