Thought I would ask for some horror stories here to help put in perspective the importance working on your own vehicle. Care to share?

I'm going to start posting the dumb crap I'm seeing on the highway. Last night on my way home from Lewiston ID. I just left Riggins, ID and following a Swift Truck (driving 35 MPH in 55 MPH) and 2 other little vehicles (Both Fords). I seen I had a chance to pass one vehicle and tuck back in line. So I lay into the power and start to slip back in the Ford stomps on his brake pedal heading for the ditch this force me to step on the throttle and over take him a second vehicle. I've never seen such a "D__k move ever" If the Ford would of just keep his cruise control going I would just slip in behind him and waited for the next passing area 2 miles away. Nope he flat out stomp…

I think there are more than a few computer savy folks on this forum. I recently purchased this computer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WDSGD1J/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is the first time I have used/own an SSD & HDD equipped computer. My question is, what is the best way to used/manage the data on this computer. I am transferring my documents and other files from the other computer to the new one. I have been searching the internet looking for information on this topic and for the most part I am find recommendations to store "data" on the HDD and programs as well as frequently used games, etc. on the S…

Well gang. I now added one more to my fleet of Dodge Trucks. I had my friend drop off his truck and needed a clutch I told him to help me out I would do it for him. After we found out hes going to need a full clutch and flywheel at the time. He didn't have the money. He just left the truck on my shop for over a month which I shoved it out into the yard. Just walked away. Fast forward 6 month. I get a nasty message from him telling me to more or less to F off and he doesn't need friends like me. Ok... He could been stopping by and dropping a hundred a paycheck and got him a clutch but nope. No phone calls, no dropping by, nothing... Even @Wet Vette was upset how he's just …

Man I'm getting rather wore out on everything being late and held up because of COVID... I know I posted this on a few other threads. Like @Wet Vette ask me to fix the old dish washer in the house. I did a few simple repairs of the float switch and the water line. Got it to run once again last for about 2 weeks and then the motor locked up. I tore apart the pump head and found a scrubby pads wound up in the pump head. Clean it up and it last another wash or two and then the bearing froze up in the motor. Ok. We both agree to replace the dishwaher. Head to Home Depot and looking at dishwashers and there is huge sales on some quality units. We got our eyes set o…

Well after thinking about retiring for some time now I finally did it. I have to work a months notice which is up on the 6th December, not actually retiring but working for myself, got a large box trailer for tools, welder, compressor etc and I now stand at 11 sites to look after which is all the Mobile plant on the 11 sites. I have quite a bit of work to do on the trailer and truck before the 6th to get it where I need it to be. I also just bought OHW Jaltest diagnostic kit and from what I've seen so far it does what Cat ET and the Volvo diag does, just have to test it on the other manufacturer's kit. Roll on the 6th

I got some things going one with my leg which hurts like you wouldn't believe. I have a seriously swollen leg from varicose veins and a hip acting up for the first time ever. It's bad enough that I'm goin to the doc for the third time tomorrow. To top that off there is some sciatica in the same leg. It's like an army of hurt even down into my foot. At first we couldn't figure out what was wrong. Tonight is the first time in weeks that it isn't hurting when sitting down. I even got some sleep a little bit ago. God is good to teach me how to treat myself by massaging the sciatica away. It like you find this button and push that area and the pain goes away. It is like Magic …

I'm officially old as dirt today. I've got to say Thank You to @Wet Vette, Jacob and Breck Thoreson for the awesome birthday present. They got me an Samsung Tab S4. Very impressive tablet. Been quietly setting this up so I can continue to do work on the road since my previous laptop blew up back in Jan, 2020. I'm taking the day off and doing absolutely nothing... So after this post I'm outta here... Chillin'

Anyone have or have used AlfaOBD? I've seen it work (YT) with 4G trucks, but only heard about it works with 3G trucks. Any substantial knowledge with it for the pre-4G models?

To those that tracked me down and anyone else, the rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated. My work life has been brutal that past few weeks and are almost done. I offer this as something that made me laugh and remind if what I have been missing. Some folks will paint anything.

Hey everyone. I know we are all aware of the need for money to keep mopar1973man.com running. I had an idea i just wanted to toss out there. I have my own YouTube Channel i have been posting random stuff on for years just as A hobby trying to help others. I have now started to make a bit of money off ad revenue and have used this money to purchase a better camera and it pays for most of the maintenance on my truck. I in turn started making videos on my truck purposely and kind of use the money now towards upgrades/ maintenance and make more videos. With all that being said i am curious who all owns a camera and has internet that can upload videos? I was thinkin…

Yup... I was just at home doing a bit of repairs and got a phone call from a gentleman. He had called Chevron station in Riggins, ID and Steve of course referred it to me. It is a 40 foot Monaco Diesel Pusher. When I got there you can clearly see the coolant dripping out from under the engine area. It was technically the lower radiator hose buty being the radiator is in the side its got some rather unusual plumbing. At this point we packed for Riggins and rounded up everything we would need including 5 gallons of antifreeze and 5 gallons of water. I ran through my buddy Steve pile of old hose looking for something big enough and grab a few old ra…

So I picked up a 70 gallon Freightliner tank for good deal, to use as an aux tank in the truck. I'm now looking into the mounting of said tank. I got the truck's tank straps and mounts, but I don't see a viable option to use these just yet, as far as mounting goes.. The tank is 23D x 41L. Anyone here done this before with a similar tank? If so, pics? Thank ya, Rogan

I'm putting this here because it doesn't apply to any limited Generation of truck. Am attempting to remove the exhaust flange bolts from my turbo "about" so that I can in stall my new exhaust. I have been spraying it off and on for weeks, both cool and hot, with AeroKroil. Today I've laid into it both from above and below with my wimpy air hammer in an attempt to jostle the rust. My guess is that from the top was a mistake, as it could swell the bolt like a river. However, the other attempt from below didn't make much difference. Any further in-truck ideas?

Oregon is laced with forest lands, makes for a nice state when you get out of the cities. However, starting this evening we have a large, very unusual wind storm about to happen. They are predicting 80 mph gusts over the Cascade Mtns and 45 to 50 mph in my area of the foothills. Humidity levels will become extremely low with temps bouncing around 90 to 100. These are explosive conditions just like the fires that happened in Paradise and Santa Rosa California. Please give us your prayers..... these are extreme conditions about to occur. Thank you ever so much......
