I have been using walmarts 2 cycle in the mix and apparently they no longer carry it or they are doing a good job of hiding it , is there a good substitute ?

Any TCW3 which is ashless as the Supertech is will work. Every once in a while I have a hard time finding it and then its back or at another WM.

Most all modern 2 cycle oil is fine. The only thing I don't suggest is Synthetic 2 cycle oil. Synthetic 2 cycle oil is just way too expensive to burn like fuel. Then most synthetic 2 cycle oil doesn't have a PPD (Pour Point Depressant) which this is what helps out with gelling issues.

Our Walmart keeps the 2 cycle oil in the boat section, I just got a gallon $19.70.

$13/gallon here in SC

Its the same in both Carolinas then.

In a pinch can you just use non synthetic motor oil? Say a 10W30 for example?? (not used engine oil)

I don't suggest it. The ash levels are way too high and will create ash deposits on the injectors. This is why the whole WEO (waste engine oil) and ATF idea was given up years ago. Not worth the problems. Even virgin oil is high in ash content doesn't matter if it used or not.

In a pinch I just wait till I can get the correct tcw3.

I've been known to use just about all names of 2 cycle oil. 

 

• Stihl Chainsaw 2 cycle oil
• PennzOil 2 cycle oil
• Quaker State 2 cycle oil
• YamaLube 2 cycle oil
• Injex 2 cycle oil (snowmobile).

List goes on most all 2 cycle oil today is ashless. Don't have to limit yourself to just Walmart. 

Mine responds best to the Pennzoil Outdoor two-stroke (hard to find around Denver), followed by the Pennzoil Marine two stroke.  

SuperTech two stroke makes it rattle noticeably more.  I'm not sure why.

 

WalMart for some crazy reason doesn't stock 2 Cycle Oil through the winter time. I typically stock up in the fall or the year and in the early spring of the year.

It's a little hard to run your 2 stroke boat motor on a frozen lake so sales of it are down and no need to carry it. 

The Walmart by my place has it for $13.84 / gal. The lake around here don't freeze in the winter.

@IBMobile you need the 2 cycle oil for those augers so you can bore holes in the ice up at the lake so you can go fishing. Or your chainsaw to cut a hole in the ice. Still need 2 cycle oil.

If you're filling with bio 5% or more, no need for 2 cycle oil. If i know I'm going to drive a lot ,I'll fill with bio, but if the truck is going to sit for an unknown period of time then I fill with regular diesel and add 2-cycle. Bio has extra moisture in it, if used continously then shouldn't be any problems. You definitely don't want to fill with bio and let your truck sit for a year. 

B2 biodiesel still beats petroleum diesel. Any bio should be in the 200's HFRR score.
