Well I learned something yesterday... Never go shopping in the economy car. We went to WalMart, Costco, etc. in Lewiston, Id and Clarkston, WA. Needless to say it was so much stuff we packed in that little car it struggled to pull the load and drop the MPG down into the 30's. 

 

Surprising that you start with a little bit and keep going to pick up everything that you have on the list of good deal while you can. Then start loading the car and finding out the car is filling up rapidly. Now you loading the back seat because the trunk is full. 

 

Make sure you use the proper vehicle for the task at hand... @Wet Vette little car (2018 Hyundai Elantra) was really working hard to climb two grade and keep up at the set cruise speed at 65 MPH. A few times I had to manual shift to get it to build power again and not let the engine lug down. No temp issues per say but working hard on that little power plant.

 

Nothing bad to report but just something to consider...

 My wife gives me crap but whenever we go anywhere together we take the dodge. I'm 6'3" and 260lbs. I don't like getting down into her car (2009 Toyota Camry). It's a nice car for sure, loaded xle but that fact that it sits just a few inches off the ground sucks. I'm much more comfortable in my truck. Simple as that. Plus I love the sound of the Cummins and the turbo 

Myself included I'm 6'2" tall as well. Eileen's little Hyundai is nothing to laugh at. That little car is pretty darn quick when you drop it in SPORT mode and the steering get feather light, transmission shift pattern changes, and even the fuel parameters change making it even quicker. My problem is I'm long legged and the seat is just a few inches from the floor so I typically sit rather unnatural with my left leg pull up to the seat and my right leg resting on the center console. 

 

Cummins on the other hand, never worry about getting things home there is a full 8 foot bed to toss everything into. Then there is a full back seat for my stuff. I sit more naturally in the Cummins. I might not get the 40 MPG like the little Hyundai but sure gets the job done quickly. It can haul a trailer loaded even now when you play the MPG per ton game now the Hyundai loses the game, but the Cummins comes out on top again. Yeah that spooling turbine is a wonderful sound.

Mike all we got to do is stack a new retaining wall in front of the leaner. Then bust it down for better drainage with a drain pipe coming out the end. The new dry stack walls are engineered to handle it from Mutual materials. Will look nice,. add value,  have some good looking choices. We can step the end to soften the look and go along with the stairs and railing. 

 

There is a Mutual Materials in Boise. Each pallet of block weights around 3400 lbs. Your trailer can handle that. I think I can arrange it so we are paying what the retailers pay if we pick it up ourselves.

The wifes old car was a 98 Saturn. 6 " off the asphalt. Not bad getting in, just kinda fall in. But about an hour and a half is all I could take in it and the last 30 minutes sucked. Getting out was another matter. Put my legs out and they are under my chin. I get down a lot better than I get up these days. 6' 4" and about 215. The new to us Equinox is a lot better. Still not a big car but I sit much higher. In and out is much better. Still a 4 banger but with a 6 speed tranny and the combination is better than the small 1.8 liter on a 4 speed. Better all round car but still a bit small. But the lady driving it is 4' 9.5" on a good day.

You could say my shopping trips are short.  I can see the parking lot lights of Costco from my driveway and there is a Walmart next to it.  To haul those cases of what ever "The Boss" buys from there we use a 1995 Volvo wagon.

 

And, with all the room you could want.

The 98 Saturn might just fit in there with me and the wife in it. All kidding aside, the stores are near that close to me too. So I dont have to make a run to town to find what I need; Easy to make a couple trips  diftoferent stores on different days.

We used up two Dodge Neon's, a '98 and '05, both with 5 spd standard trannys. with 2.0 power, yeah...downshift on a 6% grade. The '17 Escape with the 2.0 Eco-boost will haul the groceries up an 8% grade in 6th gear (auto) cruise set at 68 mph and not wimp out. The first Ford since our '85 Escort Wagon (junk).

This time I took the Cummins and ice chest. 

Who cares about the Cummins, what's in the ice chest?

Unless it is something really big or heavy, we usually take the Honda Pilot but the wife likes her Honda Element SC for local trips and the Honda CR-V for longer duty.  

My wife always end up bringing home a lot of stuff when we go out shopping that's why we always bring my 2016 RAM 2500 Laramie Crew Cab. 

@Wet Vette finally got it figured out shopping trips to Lewiston, ID or Ontario, OR are now done with the truck. We has a second go around trying to do some shopping for a camping trip and loaded up with both grandkids (Parker and Kayden) and started to run out of room in her little Hyundai. It was stuffed. Now she wants to take the truck because it will hold the shopping easier than stuffing the little car.
