  1. I just happen to get a really good look at that this yesterday. I was heading down to Ontario, OR and Caldwell, ID for supplies. Well the start of the trip was at +10*F about and couldn't do much better than 17-19 MPG. By the time I got to Council, ID the weather start warming up start creeping towards 20 MPG. By the time I was running around in Caldwell, ID it was 56-59*F and the MPG was really rising up towards 22-23 MPG... No joke. I've also just verified my ScanGauge II is dead on the money now. So I've not seen any down side to warm air either... All pluses when it comes to MPG's...
  2. Actually in the Vista / Win 7 debate I tend to say Vista is better smaller package and lot more can be tune out and lighten up conpared to Win 7 which has way too much graphical overhead. Comparing raw installs Win 7 has more running processes out of the box than Vista does. But that only my ...
  3. If its firing up right away with the AirDog unplugged most likely you have a torn diagphram in the VP44 which makes it hyper-sensitive to the fuel pressure. What is your cranking fuel pressure like 10-12 PSI? Or is it more?
  4. Well gang...MoparMom's finally went south and was acting goofy either it would boot to Win Vista and not hook up to the internet or it would boot and act like its finishing a update then crash and circle back through booting process. I had enough. I'm in the process of backing up a few partitions and now installing Ubuntu Linux x64 to her computer. I think she is going to really enjoy the solid environment. As for me I'm running a dual boot computer and working my way out of Windows as well. As soon as I find the rest of my replacement software or a emulator to use the Win Apps on Linux (WINE) then Vista will disappear from my computer as well. As for the shop computer I'm going to convert it over very soon too and get away from Windows all together... Good Bye Micro$oft! --- Hello Ubuntu Linux x64...
  5. Ok... Do you have the new quick connect AirDog? Did you trim the drawstraw during installation? If so how much did you trim off (gap to bottom of tank)? Did you cut the drawstraw at a angle or notch it? As for drawstraw I don't have such issues... I can run to the low fuel light (1/8 tank without much problems). http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/25-fuel-system/30-how-to-install-a-airdog-150-fuel-system
  6. Without some sort of virtual loading Cummins diesel engines don't produce much heat. Idling a engine is all that great. But if you have a exhaust brake and/or high idle abilities then you got a different story. But for me to just start my truck and idle it will take a very long time to warm up and its not suggested. The problem is Cummins diesel engine are not ment to be operated at coolant temps below about 170*F. So high idle feature was designed by Cummins but disabled by Dodge.
  7. Dave is right... The sticker should be signed and dated at least month/year.
  8. No... It just a pocket knife...
  9. Ok Gang...I got the ScanGauge II dialed in perfectly and extremely accurate now. I know exactly how to do and make the adjustment so it right near perfect. Fillup Procedure.1. Pick a fuel station that you going to use for a calibration fill point.2. Pick a pump that you going to use for filling. You must return back to the very same pump in the same direction!3. Fill the tank on the lowest sped possible of the pump this reduces foaming of the fuel.4. When the pump shuts off. That's it! Hang up the nozzle! Don't round up to the nearest dollar...5. This you go through the fillup process but leave the setting alone. Don't change the offset percent. But you can change the price value!6. Drive the truck far amount of distance at least 1/2 tank to 3/4 of tank.7. Return back to your fuel station to the same pump in the same direction.8. Fill the tank again in the same manner. When the pump stops hang up the nozzle.9. Now do you fillup and change your offset gallons to match the pump. Now be smart If you get 18.889 Gallons make sure you round up on the ScanGauge II to 18.9 gallons. If the hundredth placement is less than 5 don't round up. Say it was 18.810 you would of set 18.8 gallons.Speed Procedure1. Use a GPS or barrow one from a friend.2. Take a ride with the MPH display up on the ScanGauge II and verify the speed is correct for all speed. (25, 35, 45, 55, 65, 75, etc.)3. If not correct your ScanGauge II speed to match the GPS (not the stock speedometer!).As for verification... :thumbup2:I went back now for the 3rd trip to the very same station filled up again. Same pump and same direction. The pump stopped exactly on the amount of gallons the ScanGauge II displayed. Not to mention the price was exact too. Just doesn't get any better than that!Failures...I've seen several people get upset about ScanGauge II not being accurate. Most of the time you find out they are using any old pump and rounding up to the nearest dollar. You must use the same pump for calibartion as I'm finding out even though all pump have a weights and measure sticker meaning they are calibrated but most pump are not absolutely exact. So Station A might be +0.1 Gallon off when you go to station B it might be -0.1 off. You must use the same pump. As for direction some of the station have a slope away from the pump so if you in a different direction then it might change the level of the tank! Direction is important too. As for the speed this is how ScanGauge II gets its mileage so if the speed is wrong then the MPG figure is wrong too. MPG = Speed (MPH) / Flow (GPH)For example19.6 MPG = 55 MPH / 2.80 GPH So if your flow calibration is done poorly then the flow number is skewed. If your speed calibration is done poorly so your mileage is skewed... So if both are poorly done well you going to be very upset to find out you hand math and ScanGauge II are a long ways from being close! Oh... If you do hand math to verify the ScanGauge use the miles from the ScanGauge not the odometer. Like on my truck I'm close but not exactly perfect on the speed I'm still off by 0.5 MPH so the Scan numbers are slightly off from hand math done with the odometer but the hand math of the ScanGauge II is fine...
  10. Verified mine today... With starting temps as low as +10*F this morning it was 17 @ idle and 15 @ WOT. But by the time the fuel warmed up in Ontario, OR today at nearly 60*F out its back to normal summer pressures of 19-19.5 @ idle and 17 @ WOT.Now the spring problem is gone for me... The trick is for all AirDog 100 and AirDog 150 pumps remove your spring and slightly crush the end coils so they are no longer absolutely circle but slightly oval. No more check ball jamming in the coils of the spring!
  11. Hell Left the house this morning cross New Meadows Valley at +10*F this morning by the time I drove 3 hours to Ontario, OR the weather had warmed up to a nice 53*F... By the time I got done over at Caldwell, ID it was nearly 60*F... Really nice... But by the time I got to New Meadows again it was barely +31*F and the sun going down...
  12. I would say you have either a sealing copper shim that is bad or a injector pintle/nozzle that is leaking. Time to pull them and look at the injectors too.
  13. The shim should be close to the diameter of the bore so the shims all lay in evenly and the center hole is where the bleed off fuel returns out of the injector. So the diameter has to be the same but ISX is right its the thickness that changes the pop pressure.
  14. When the dealer sees ... They normally just go and don't care much...
  15. Lightly covered in snow...:rolleyes:Come on spring...

Welcome to the family...Make sure to ask lots of questions we'll do are best to answer all question no matter how simple and crazy they might be... There is no such thing as a stupid question here...
  17. I have (had) a Facebook account and currently hold the account just for those cases where some says "Here look at my Facebook page". As for my account is empty no pictures, no information, no nothing... If you want to know about me come to the site...
  18. 12.55V isn't exactly a full charge either. 12.6 to 12.8 is a good full charge...Anything under 12.0 is basically dead...
  19. I've got 2 chainsaws now... My Sthl 046 Magnum (26" bar) and the older Homelite "Pocket Knife" (16" bar). They both are kept in the trailer box. But the homelite is my small trail saw for the ATV and the Sthl is my bad boy "Screamin' Beaver" for falling and bucking... No I don't need another saw... I've got 2... So when the bind up the "Screamin' Beaver" I'll pull out the "Pocket knife" and work it free...Or if I'm sent on a Search and Rescue I know I'll have both saw in the trailer... So no biggy...
  20. Could you post a picture of it? (Please! )
  21. Hex is right... I would get that fuel pressure gauge back in function and check it for yourself. Did they check idle and WOT operation or just idle? I would check error codes and see if there is something else causing a issue (Cam sensor?)
  22. That's why I built my own vent tube... Then had my Dodge Dealer write it into my warranty so it not possible to be considered a problem that would VOID the warranty... Well I'm way past that now...
  23. KDP goes from 1989-2000... Some have been reported in 2001... I've only seen 1 report of a 2002...
  24. I'm glad to see other parents put there foot down and deal with there children properly... Yeah it might of been a bit too much to shoot the laptop but I would of most likely done the same thing. I see the very same thing here in small towns of Riggins, ID and such. The kids think they get hand out and a free ride.Just 20 years ago it was common place to see the local school shutdown for hay season. All the ranches would hire all the kids to load bailed hay on trucks. For a day. Now today all you see is kids playing games on a Playstation, texting on their cellphones, and of course hanging out on Facebook... But they don't work or do anything... Very sad...
