Weird issue with brake pedal feel and PS pump
Funny... From 2003 on up with the Ford steering boxes and ATF system required a cooler. But now 1989 to 2002 was a power steering fluid and didn't come with a cooler. Make you think a second. I'm at 354k miles still no issue with heat even driving 3 hours every other day. Just change fluid twice a year. Once in the spring and once in the fall.

compound set up
The final ratio to the ground is too low. Change the axle gearing and all your EGT's will go away. either run 4.10 or 4.56 gears. Right now your final ratio to the ground is 3.00:1 which is way too tall and the truck is struggling to pull along. I've already done the study work on tires and ratio impact. On my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 I when from 235's to 215's which is a 30.5-inch tire and now gain more power to the ground and at least +2 MPG. On my truck next I'll be going from 235's to 245's which again is a 30.5-inch tire but it will take my final ratio from 3.55 to 3.69 and during my temporary test run I gain more pulling power, lowered my EGT's and transmission temperatures. Optimal for 3.55 gears is 30 to 31-inch tires. On 4.10 gear 35-inch tires would be optimal. So if you want lower EGT's and better running truck you are looking at 2 choices... Go back to 31-inch tires to restore the final ratio. Shell out the $4,000 for ring gear sets and have installed.

Can I have two bad thermostats in a row
I've got a premium this time. Runs about 195-197*F with my current Quadzilla tune.

For the most part yes. Both AirDog and FASS both come as a complete kit. This means supplied draw straw, electrical, pump, and all plumbing. You end up removing everything from the fuel tank to the engine and replacing. The only thing I will suggest with either kit is to get the Vulcan Big Line Kit so you keep the stock fuel filter can.

Quadzilla Adrenaline Economy and MPG
Out here it attracts cops to pulling you over for speeding. They watch for the black cloud to show and then go after you. After living through the heavy dense fire smoke out here the last thing I want to do is no start rolling coal. I've had enough smoke for the time being. Ugh! The part Iove is the smokeless tune I run. People see a fairly stock looking truck smallish tires, no lift, etc. Assume they can whip on me. LMAO! Mostly end up in my rear view mirror. In under 100 yards I whipped a stock 4th gen no to long ago. Out ran him to the merge point.

I think your right...

Don't remind me...

I always wondered why people want a lope tune or a smoke tune neither one produces a good tune and makes the truck run really crappy. Why?

2nd gen auto transmission fluid flow?
@dripley to toss in the comic relief for the evening. By chance did you happen to remove the one way check valve? This would also create that drain back issue too.

Not sure exactly but it would be just a bit bigger and better flow than my 60/60/12 I've got now. All I can say is ask him. I'll even tag him in hopes he shows up here. @dieselautopower

2nd gen auto transmission fluid flow?
@Dynamic warned me about it when he modified the transmission for pump in park. It would drain back overnight. I do notice that the whine of the pump in park is now gone because fluid will flow in park or neutral. Compared on stock it only flows in neutral.

This is correct. But still in all the line size is too small.

2nd gen auto transmission fluid flow?
Stock transmission does not drain back typically. I've never had to wait like now. Every morning I've got to start it wait about 10 seconds before the transmission will do anything. Before it would move instantly after starting.

At any rate, all that stock plumbing has to come out. It's just too small of pipe for what the engine requires. All the banjo line are 6mm (0.23") This is smaller than 1/4" fuel lines. Our engine does the best with full 1/2" lines and keeps the pressure stable over a wider range of fuel demands.

I've been running NAPA thermostats and never found a bad one yet.

I highly suggest against this. Canned tunes are only built for stock trucks. Now after you put bigger injectors and other mods on that canned tune will not fit anymore. This is what pushed me away from the Edge Comp toward the Quadzilla at least with the Quadzilla you can control your fuel to boost and keep the smoke down to nothing. Where my Edge Comp couldn't run any setting without smoking fairly good. So with that being said the Edge Comp will not fit. I'm not sure what turbo that is exactly. Sounds like my HX35/40 Hybrid. I would suggest you get ahold of Jacob over at Diesel Auto Power he's got a better turbo that will fit. He's was wanting me to jump on this because it would fit my fuel I've got at 7 x 0.0085 injectors. Now my 7 x 0.0085 injectors from DAP and my HX35/40 (60/60/12) turbo with the Quadzilla on Level 3 (of my custom tune which is CANBus only) I can haul my RV (31 foot Jayco) up any grade 6% or 7% with my foot mashed to the floor and never reach 1,200*F. If you wanting custom tunes guys here will be glad to help build a tune that does what you want. You can even jump in the Download area and download available tunes. https://mopar1973man.com/files/category/22-quadzilla-standard-tunes/

2nd gen auto transmission fluid flow?
Something about the valve body. You will have to ask @Dynamic about this.
-
2nd gen auto transmission fluid flow?
Just Neutral. There is a mod that transmission rebuild can do to make it pump in park as well. The side effect is the torque converter will drain out over night.

Nope. You need to pull the radiator and inspect it in the open. You'll be surprised of how much debris is in the face.

- Problems with dead pedal between 25mph and 45 mph
Just need a better fuel system. The overflow valve typically opens at 14 PSI. So any fuel pressure below 14 PSI the overflow is closing. It's completely closed by 10 PSI. As for the overflow valve typically they don't wear out. This still brings you back to getting a AirDog or FASS. Not going to change til you upgrade.- Now thats a set of ramps
I wonder if those will hold a 9,000-pound Cummins?- Power Steering fluid swap
I watched the reverse... Few big names went to AMSOil ATF in the power steering and ended up eating the pump and steering gearbox multiple times. Our systems are not designed for ATF. Now 2003 on the Sagnaw box was discontinued and Ford steering box was used from 2003 on. Hence way the 3rd and 4th gen use ATF in the power steering. - Problems with dead pedal between 25mph and 45 mph
