  1. The turbo bearings are brass, so I don't think it would be from them.
  2. Close, but this time he was under the hood
  3. That's one way of putting it, but I preffer "In the name of science"! Besides, I highly doubt there will be any carnige.
  4. Well basically, there was a loose nut under the hood, which required me to bring something to a machine shop, well unbeknownst to me the guy's name was richard.... I've give you the full story once it pans out.
  5. Oh absolutely! For compounds that poor HX35 wastegate needs all the help it can get. On single setups, I've heard convincing arguments from both sides, one of which being Weston. This is just one of those things I have to see for myself. Might as well, I have everything needed.
  6. Up & Down shaft play is expected and perfectly normal. Put a slight about of pressure on the shaft in every direction while spinning the wheel. If there is no rubbing, you're fine. There has to be some play due to the bearing design. It's in and out play that is the big no no. Maximum of .0064" (.16mm) Your oil leak could be contributed to large amounts of idle time?
  7. The fix to all yalls problems is to just acquire more junk. I'm not even going to try and make a list of all the trailers around here. However, making a list of the ones that work like they should would be a little easier. Perfect working trailers: ...
  8. It's from a small air compressor of which I also stole the tank/pressure relief valves/regulators from for my OBA system. This is probably the same thing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-PCS-ROUND-ROCKER-SWITCHES-12V-ROUND-TOGGLE-ON-OFF-12-VOLT-CAR-SNAP-IN-SWITCH-/400647754904?hash=item5d48779498:g:xWYAAOxyUrZS2cSB&vxp=mtr Oh, I should probably mention, that is not the stock knob, I had to make my own.
  9. Sure is. It's operates the exhaust brake.
  10. I used to take a heat gun to the rubber to let it flex easier, obviously don't go to hot. But I've since replaced it with a custom piece...
  11. That's a myth that I plan on busting.... Once I get my truck back together.
  12. I know you don't want to hear this, but I've seen some D60's Banana out and do that.
  13. You missed it, that was last week haha. Though it's down again, but should be up and running within a week. I took it easy on the fresh head gasket, so no comparisons. I'm waiting on some stuff in the mail, and then the time to install it. Once it's together, I'll be able to make some runs!
  14. Auto or manual? You should be pushing a lot more fuel then you are then, assuming there's no major boost/exhaust leaks. What is your fuel pressure? I'd bet something is off with your gov springs. You can give them an extra click or two. Or just get a new set. 4K GSK are good bang for your buck. With my current setup, I can barely keep boost at 35, any more fuel and it starts outflowing my oversized wastegate. Stock 215 injectors, #10 plate in the middle, and 4k GSK.
  15. Your truck must be a 94-95? Check for boost leaks, that's a good idea. Anytime I have any intake plumbing apart I always check. Though I wouldn't be surprised if that's all she has in her.
  16. The stock actuators I tested don't allow for much adjustment. Any tighter and it wouldn't open all the way. That's likely why not many play with them, you should be fine. Depending on your fueling setup, you may not need to be full open in order to wastegate the extra exhaust.
  17. I through a set of these on this summer when they were discounted. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?ra=filterTireProducts.do&fl=&pc=27009&counter=0&ar=75&rd=16&cs=265
  18. Drilling the divider across from the wastegate hole works well, drilling in that location helps retain some of the advantages of the twin scroll, while still gating both volutes.
  19. As far as the HX35. Drill the divider, and enlarge the wastegate, bigger the better. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-12v-dodge-cummins/69-air-intake-exhaust/492-oversized-wastegate-and-regrinding Using this method you can easily get it out to 28mm, from the stock ~22mm.
  20. Possibly, but here in MO, it's that or rust. The paint is just a thin coat, so if it does flake, it shouldn't do any harm, at least I hope.
  21. I'm fairly confident, but to be on the safe side I went with two very light coats, just enough to actually be white, so if it does chip, it will just be very small flakes if not powder.
  22. back when I was in the research mode for head porting, each picture was worth a thousand words, SOOOOOOO. How the head looked when it came off. Stock: Now:
  23. Other than work on my truck??? Breaking it and work under it would be the first two things that come to mind. This certain truck has occupied most my free time for over 3 years now, and people are always suprised that I A)still work on it not to mention enjoy it. And B)there's anything left to be monkeyed with! While we're on this subject, years ago when I got my first CTD, me and a friend each hauled a load a goats to the sale barn, mine was an stock auto, which has governor issues making so it won't rev very high making it pretty lame, and his was a 5spd 99 with a chip and HO pump... Anyhow I got an ear full over the CB. That trip fueled my obsession with these 12V's, and I'm proud to announce that going from 900 RPM to 3000 in 4th takes his truck ~ 22 seconds. Doing the same with my current truck (back when it was working) takes ~18 seconds.... He doesn't know yet, but next time he drives it he'll figure it out. Other then that, living on a farm has it's perks. Got ponds full of fish... that have not been fished in years. Back when I fished more, I got a 32.5" Catfish, and a 36" carp out of it, along with a 11" bluegill. I used to really enjoy plinking with the 22, but ammo got expensive and more importantly, hard to come by. My gun of choice was a Savage Mark 2 I've had forever, we'd shoot pop cans out to 300 yards with just cheap walmart ammo. Remington ammo is cheaper, less accurate, and due to the large hollow point, if you shoot a small bird it will literally blow it up making it hard to anything but feathers. Federals were OK, but they're hollow points were a joke, making it so you had to hit something dead on to make it go down, so we used it for target practice only. The Winchesters were a good bullet, they'd only fragment if it was a larger animal (squirrel, crow, *cough* turkey *cough*). You could get a dime sized group at 50 yards. On all that coughing, one thanksgiving we wanted turkey, so instead of grabbing a shotgun which has an effective range of maybe 40 yards on a good day. I grabbed the 22 and popped him in the head at 70 yards haha. Other than that I enjoy forums obviously, it's like a cross word puzzle, but the rewards a far greater. And I also enjoy making/designing things.
