Cracked intake plenum eyelet
We don't talk about that! haha it was just lack of gasket maker.

Cracked intake plenum eyelet
I have seen it, but haven't had an issue using it yet. 5th gear was still on my transmission, and all of the paint is still on my motor

Cracked intake plenum eyelet
I'm sure brake cleaner would be fine, but I always have starting fluid on hand!

Cracked intake plenum eyelet
I just spray the threads with starting fluid and blow it off with an air compressor. Haven't had any issues yet!

Drive without front driveshaft
Do you have a CAD? If so, the shaft shouldn't be spinning fast enough to cause a vibration....

Neighbors 03 starts hard
Hard starts, hazing, loss of power, etc. If they are the factory injectors I'm sure they are long overdue!

If you bought it from Cummins and it says dry, you should put it in dry. I believe mine said dry, and I was able to push it in with my thumbs.

Another Arduino Project being dreamed up...Smoke output throttle reducer
This would be awesome for someone looking to borrow my truck (hasn't happened yet, but I'm sure eventually it will). Set it to 50% and not have to worry about them blowing the SOB up!

I wouldn't worry about replacing the head. I would not use a nylon locknut because of the heat. It could melt then come out. Personally, I would use a regular nut with high temp permanent Loctite, or a thread deforming locknut with high temp Loctite.

Teardown and Rebuild
Interesting, with my mishimoto intercooler I always see 30* above OAT. It looks like your coolant was right about 207-209?? I'd be fine with mine locking up right there. Should be cake... big C clamp on the belt (around the fan pully) and a big crescent wrench. I'm pretty sure it's a 36mm.

Teardown and Rebuild
Thank you for the explanation. I believe what you're saying now. As for the fan clutch, I still think it's shot. It's locking up before the coolant even circulates -__- So annoying!

Teardown and Rebuild
The thermostat was replaced last week with a Napa. It acts nearly the same as the one that was in it before. I doubt it's making 400+ with the settings I had it on. Stock fueling with some timing. Even if it was making 300hp to keep going (I don't think it was on the rolling hills) the cooling system should have been able to keep up easier. Yes, the radiator was power washed on the outside and rinsed on the inside. I wish I could stuff one of those fan clutches in mine! Too bad they turn opposite directions.

More annoying than anything. Plus, it does use some amount of fuel when it's locked.

Teardown and Rebuild
Mine is kicking on driving around town without anything hooked to it in 75-80 deg weather.

Teardown and Rebuild
It sounds like a big rig pulling up a pass at 2000RPM. When it drowns out a 75mm turbo pulling 20psi you know it's loud and locked!

Teardown and Rebuild
I will check it asap. I didn't think it should be engaging at 197. When the A/C is on it will lock up as low at 195, which I see quite often.

Teardown and Rebuild
Does it sound like the fan clutch is taking a dump then?

Teardown and Rebuild
That I would get, but these were small short hills. The one longer one I only had it pinned for 15 seconds or so. The rest of the time is was maybe 50% throttle. I feel like if it was a long hard pull the temps would have easily kept climbing, even though the fan kicked on at 197 (seems low for the fan to be on????)

Teardown and Rebuild
I think mine is clean... I'm going to pull it out anyway though. Cheap insurance.

Teardown and Rebuild
Did a little towing this weekend. Nothing too heavy, 10-11K. Tows like a dream and stays nice and cool. The G56 makes a world of difference while towing! Couldn't get over 1150 on the pyro at 52 psi of boost. Engine temp on the other hand hasn't been good. Temps pulled all the way up to 206 on a couple hills. I'm hoping changing out the coolant will help with that, but I'm not sure.

UDC tuning for vp trucks!!??
Not sure on that cost... heck I'm not sure where to buy the licenses and the UDC PRO dongle. Do you have a resource for the pro? Even if you didn't want to put pro on his, I'm sure you could run canned or regular UDC on his truck. Selling the SO6 could pay for most of that!

Boooooo. I'm looking for a smaller tractor with a loader. The 4020 we have is okay, but is a little bigger than we need. The 1466 turbo we have is just way too big.
