???disc vs drum brakes
I'm waiting for @Me78569 to get bored with his turbo so I can buy it and build the setup

No clutch pedal, can't get NV4500 into gear
Of the 5 or so clutches I've put in, I've yet to bleed a single master / slave that was pre-assembled. Zero issues to date fwiw

Latest project
Cool project! Heck of a price on the little guy too. Wanna sell it?

UDC tuning for vp trucks!!??
You read the new VIN policy on the smarty touch right? Once it's updated, the touch can program 4 trucks at a time. You just have to purchase the other 3 vin unlocks (comes with one). http://madselectronics.com/downloadfiles/VINLockPolicy.pdf

???disc vs drum brakes
Yeah... my dad's 96' 12V has a pacbrake on it and it's awesome. It now has 160K, most of which have been pulling a 20ft gooseneck cattle trailer or a 25ft tandem dual gooseneck flatbed. It's had 1 set of new front brakes and the rear drums are still original. If you ever driven a pre-97 12v you know how bad the brakes suck too!

I'm still waiting for someone to make an exhaust brake that goes between the two turbos on a compound setup.

UDC tuning for vp trucks!!??
I downloaded and looked into this last night... I think I have my brother convinced to cough up some money for the PRO dongle and I'll pay for half. I can then use his touch to program both of our trucks. Blowing $$$$$$ like it's going out of style! Anyway, that link @Me78569 posted helps explain the tables in the UDC much better than anything in the UDC program. I'd like to take a crack at it and see how smooth and clean I can make my truck run with these big injectors. I see what you did there

Reverse lighting
Personally, I would run them manually by hand. That way when you don't need them or someone is behind you, you don't blind them. It'd be easy to tap into the hot wire back there and run a relay to a switch located in the cab.

Manual Trans Conversion - Seeking Advice/Tips/Issues/etc
IF you're buying a kit, I'd hope the transmission comes with all of those components. Who are you thinking for the clutch? Driveshafts might be okay. I don't know the exact dimensions of the two transmissions though. Like Mike said, the neutral safety switch is not on the trans. It's actually part of the hydraulics assembly and petal assembly.

???disc vs drum brakes
Interesting you say that.... the rear disc on the 3rd gen AAM axle doesn't have much of a different design. If I recall, they are almost exactly the same. (We can swap them onto our 2nd gens)

Edge comp, mild injectors, fuel mileage
It's not limiting the stock power, but rather the amount of power added on top. So if you're on level 5 (120hp) and sub level 1 it'll only give you 40hp above stock before you get more boost.

UDC tuning for vp trucks!!??
Interesting. The smarty makes good power for me...heck right about 50psi of boost matted so that's plenty of power to tow with. Sometimes you just need that little extra ;)

UDC tuning for vp trucks!!??
You are 100% correct! As you know, I tuned my brother's 05 with UDC. The capabilities are impressive, and the smallest changes are what makes the truck so street friendly while laying gobs of power down when your foot is in it. If I have to I'll switch back to smarty tuning with a TST as a wiretap. I would really prefer one programmer/module though. I can't wait to get home and take a look

UDC tuning for vp trucks!!??
So they do have the stock tables ... good to hear. I'm talking of all the programmers / modules / gizmos / everything.

UDC tuning for vp trucks!!??
Yes, you can download it. Not sure if they have a stock vp base to play with though. I know they have the CR's though

UDC tuning for vp trucks!!??
The computer on top of the VP Maybe the most advanced for nit-picky tuning, but definitely not the most powerful or rpm capable.
-
UDC tuning for vp trucks!!??
Quote from the link: The support for the VP trucks is not really complete! In simple terms, it will not make any more power or any more RPM's than a Smarty S03 would do. The reason for this is simple but at the same time rather complicated. There are hidden limiters that limit Fuel-Timing-RPM. At this point in time, we have started to completely disassemble (Reverse Engineer) the ECM's software. For the above reasons, I decided to not show any RPM related parameters. There ARE a ton of RPM limiters in the Map part of the ECM but no matter what, they're useless since the RPM's in the real world then do not increase. Time of completion on that? Weeks? Months? Can't say but we are on it. End quote: Soooooo I'm not convinced yet. Plus the $350 for the dongle.... Plus the $850 for the touch... Plus more if you want to update on the fly. If they advance it further, maybe. If nothing comes anytime soon I don't see too much of a point. If only it worked on a regular smarty!

Manual Trans Conversion - Seeking Advice/Tips/Issues/etc
A new ECM is north of 1K. A smarty file is free.... But yes it needs taken care of For the rest of the truck, donor parts from a junk yard should be easy to find. (Petals, steering column, etc.)

http://www.truckinginfo.com/channel/aftermarket/news/story/2013/07/meritor-projects-slow-steady-growth-for-nafta-market-air-disc-brakes.aspx 10% in the US and 90% in Europe are disc.

I wouldn't worry about new bodies. Bodies don't really go bad, just the nozzle.

ECM can be flashed.

7x.012 is big. That's ~ 250hp There is also a difference between sac and vco nozzles. Typically sac flows more, so the same size holes flow just a bit more fuel. I'd go right around where you're at with a vco nozzle, or drop to 50's. http://dieselautopower.com/diesel-auto-power-50hp-performance-injectors-7x0-008-vco-vp7x8vco/ DAP does it on all sets. At least that's what Jacob said.

DAP flow matches and sets pop off pressures within 2% if I remember correctly.
