  1. That is a vent, but not for the tank. That is a vent for the filler so you can fill it faster. If you look at the filler from say my truck and one from your truck Russ, you will see that yours necks down quite a bit and then expands at the tank. Mine is the same size all the way.
  2. Early shifting could be the TPS. You may need to pull the sleeves out of the mounting holes to change the shift points enough.
  3. Want lots of reading about the CVT? 48 pages worth here: http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/104-gen-4-2010-present/19593-cvt-transmission-discussion.html
  4. Is it possible that the waste gate is stuck closed and you have an overboost code?
  5. I remember a 1968 Chevy Nova my dad had with a two speed auto in it. My son and daughter each have a 2006 VW Jetta TDI and I have a 2012 Jetta TDI all with six speeds.
  6. Ed, that I don't know, but you would need to look at the harness to see how it is anchored. I have not had any problem with mine, but I rarely move the wheel. Hopefully someone with some experience will chime in and tell you what you need to know. Tom
  7. If you look at the DTT filter link posted it shows the filter is $80. I never said to buy an alternator. I said to test the alternator output the way the article states. I speculated that the diode would be a lot less expensive than $80. Chances are the filter you got from BD is just a smaller diode that bleeds off the one part of the voltage that makes it an AC voltage. A diode off the alternator would ensure the entire truck see a clean DC voltage.
  8. Do you use the tilt part of your steering wheel a lot? If so you probably have some broken wires right where they bend every time the wheel is tilted. Other wise you need to go through the connections in the column.
  9. The first thing I would try is following what is in this article: http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/28-transmission-systems/260-torque-converter-lock-unlock-issues Instead of paying $80+ for a 'filter', why couldn't a person go to Radio Shack (or equivalent) and get a diode to install right off the alternator? I am sure it would be much cheaper.
  10. Only the possibility of starving your VP of fuel............
  11. That would be IMPRESSIVE!!:hyper:
  12. Your tank vent is probably plugged. It is on the top of the tank, but it is possible that you had a vented cap before and now you don't. Most newer gassers require the gas cap to seal for emissions purposes. Sounds like a gasser cap.
  13. I can't say about your pyrometer, but to light the turbos you need to have fuel. Fuel exploding (firing in the cylinders) is what drives them. Sounds like you need a touch more fuel to get things going.
  14. Let me guess...... NOT 'billet' looking on the other side is it. Probably a stock converter.
  15. It is the same all over. The red is a dye to signify that there are no road taxes on it. IF you get caught running red fuel it is considered TAX EVASION and the gov't don't like people stealing from them. You will probably not ever get all the dye out of your tank, so be careful. Here in Mn the state has pulled trucks over and stuck the tank. My daughter got checked in a roadside check so it does happen.
  16. The first thing I would do is check the wires on the OBD II plug and make sure they are all pushed into the connector.
  17. Wow. If mine shifted like that it would really suck. Once you get the tranny to function like it is supposed to you are gonna be one happy dude!!
  18. I do know that a lot of GM vehicles have them. There was a fatal accident back in 2009 not to far from here and law enforcement used the data from the GMC Yukon to help prosecute the driver. http://www.old.fox21online.com/news/dougherty-faces-misdemeanor-charges-double-fatal-accident The article does not mention the 'black box', but I do remember it was all over the news at the time it happened.
  19. About the only time you should need a fan is a slow speeds. The fan is pretty much useless over about 35 mph or so. You may need to pull your radiator and clean it out real good.
  20. People are surprised how well limited slip trucks get around when it snows. The only 'problem' I have is with a Dave G. tranny is it goes into gear so solidly that it will begin to spin without even moving the truck when it is real icy.
  21. Use your parking brake. Mine will hold against anything I have tried. Dropping it into gear with it on and the truck won't even move an inch.
  22. Maybe try to call that guy I suggested earlier?
  23. Loks like you just might get to be a pioneer!! I can't find anything relating to a pyro install on your engine. I am guessing it should be real similar to putting one on any other diesel. I would put it pre turbo and put the probe off center in case there is a web in the middle of the manifold. I would use the same temps as you would on your truck.
