My 05 has done this since the day I bought it 8 years ago with only 18K miles on it, now has about 118k miles and still does the same thing, only does it at cold start up at idle and or elevated idle it does it too but it goes away after it warms up a bit. The colder it is the more pronounced it is, I have always wondered why it did this but it has never bothered in any way other than how odd it sounds as it surges at idle or elevated idle some times it surges and sometimes it just kind of does what sounds like a very quick bump of the throttle or maybe a cut out hard to tell but just a split second worth. I figured it would progress into something more other than the odd nuisance but after 8 years and 100K it has not changed, I just live with it. Mine has started to do this thing the last couple years when I cold start it where it fires up instantly and then dies just as fast. Turn key off and restart and then it will crank for a second or two before starting back up but it has never gotten any worse and only does it at initial cold start up and not every time, no pattern here.- Other Engine build, 340 6v
Seeing Mikes old car reminded me of my high school days, had several class mates with chargers and road runners of that vintage and we did fun stuff similar to the video link below from the movie "Out Cold" one of the funniest movie scenes in my mind lol. Gotta love the snow plow package on the old girl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHDscnYlwjc- Lets see what you are cooking!
I learned to cook from my mother, pretty much the same way read a recipe for inspirational ideas and then modify to fit my individual style.- Other Engine build, 340 6v
Get hold of Jesse, he is a super smart mopar builder, he has been featured on national dyno tuning competitions as well, he lives about 15 miles from me. Very smart cookie. http://revsearch.com/ Jesse Lackman 2647 37th Ave SW Center ND 58530 701-794-3484 questions@revsearch.com- COV (cascade overflow valve) Removal
You never did say what the symptoms were that you were having before the parts swap other than idle issues. What kind of specific idle issues were there? Inquiring minds want to know.- Where all you guys/ gals live.... is it gettin' crowded too?
I lived there "Laramie" for 6 months while attending Wyotech for the diesel tech program in 92-93, was a fun and fast 6 months, we went down to fort Collins and partied a few times. TD's "The Draw bridge' was the usual hangout which was a bar right across the street from the "U of Wyo"- transmission choice
How old is the E350 Ford? Personally I would call some Ford Cummins conversion companies for an adapter kit and keep the Ford tranny, will have to get a different converter of course but it won't get any better than that, hate to say it but that has always been one of Fords strong points is their auto trannies versus all others. As far as the milk truck project your options are numerous and depends on what and how it will be used for.- 245/75 vs 265/75
Depends on how it is used, Seeing you have 4.10 gears I would stick with the 265's- transmission choice
The allisons behind the 5.9 cummins in delivery trucks school buses and medium duty trucks are everywhere. If you have old school bus dealers they almost give the things away. We have a large bus dealership in Bismarck with stores around other Midwest locations and they always have school buses for sale for around 3k complete and a lot of them are powered by cummins with Allison trannys. Worth giving them a look, they will hold up better than the automotive trannies from pickups. I know Bluebird and Ford both run a lot of cummins, not sure of some of the other brands of buses. http://harlowsbussales.com/inventory/- Lets see what you are cooking!
I was thinking the same thing, my grill goes year round unless its too windy when its @ zero or below then I can't build enough heat in the weber to cook things past luke warm.- transmission choice
Which rig are you asking for the motor home or the milk truck, are you using the 5 spd in anything, I would assume the 5sp is for the milk truck. If looking for a good mechanical auto tranny for the motorhome or either for that fact, personally I would look into a good Allison auto tranny out of a mid duty delivery van / truck or school bus that have 5.9 cummins in them. How big is the motor home? This will help in determining tranny needs too.- Where all you guys/ gals live.... is it gettin' crowded too?
Better stay on the east side of Glacier then, once you hit the west side CSM post 13 sums it up around that area, just like Bozeman as well, anywhere the ski slopes are, stay along or east of the I-15 corridor or south of I-90 in the Butte to Missoula area is still good hold out areas with a more normal population from my observations during travels out there to see friends and family. If people is what you want to avoid pretty much the entire eastern 2/3 of Montana will suit your needs. Flathead lake area and towns like white fish and Kalispell are just what you are trying to escape from in Colorado.- Not Shifting into OD ( 48re )
Shoot 98whitelightning a pm that's real close to his neck of the woods, he may have info on them.- Diamond eye exhaust
From my experience, not all ears are created the same, some absolutely can not pick out the difference between drone versus regular exhaust noise like my wife. I have very bad ears but "drone" pierces my head more than exhaust noise makes my head and ears feel like they are under pressure and makes my ear drums feel like they are vibrating in my head. I ride with a lot of folks who have absolutely no idea the difference. I do know I have never experienced drone in a regular cab but on any straight piped or even loud muffler alone on an extended cab I have never not noticed drone. I find that the worst drone is under 2k rpms and while under slight load like slight lugging at 50-60 mph in the 1500-1800 rpm range, get up close to and over 2k and it lessens a bit but still kills my hearing. My 05 with the new resonator is a dream to drive now versus the years with straight pipe from cat back. Once I got my hearing aid last year I had to leave it off or not even wear it while driving the 05, couldn't stand it.- Where all you guys/ gals live.... is it gettin' crowded too?
Definitely no "Open Range" down there except for the Glades and that lacks variety of scenery.- Where all you guys/ gals live.... is it gettin' crowded too?
Heck yea!!!!! The Bismarck Mandan area is just outside the Bakken oil region to the east only about 70-80 miles from the closest well sites now around Dickinson but a lot of oil related support companies base out of here now plus just all the extra folks who moved in to work in the oil industry and related jobs and business that came as a result moved in all over the state, things are a lot busier all around the state. Pretty much every major town in the state is growing by leaps and bounds as are the smaller towns in and close to the oil region. Bis/Man is transitioning into a self supportive metro area the last couple of years now, getting close to the combine population of 150K. Population has been stable with very slow growth for decades but now it is ballooning around itself and more business are popping up all the time, doesn't rely on just a few local industries and old retired farmers to keep it going anymore. My commute hasn't changed but I drive all country roads to and from work daily "I live and work in the country" and tend to stay away from Bismarck Mandan at key rush busy times of day when I do go to town. Jag1 I know you are close to Portland, I am glad I don't have to deal with your traffic, I was out there about 3 summers ago and it was crazy, I prefer Seattle over Portland but the wife is opposite, the area around Portland is beautiful but the city itself has waaaay too many fruits and nuts for my liking, not that Seattle doesn't have them either but was a different feel, never got that uneasy feeling anywhere in and around Seattle like I did in downtown Portland. Just me I guess can't explain it, take a country boy out of his natural surroundings and drop me off there was a shock to the system. I have a cousin we visited that lives in Clackamas if I remember, just far enough out of the city to be away from the majority of the hustle and bustle.- Good Morning
In my area around Bismarck Mandan and areas west it just melted within a week of falling in most cases, never got more than 2-4 inches at the most this winter in my area when it did snow. Have not had anything that even resembles a normal snow storm this winter although anytime now through beginning of may we can get the big ugly heavy wet snow and ice storms.- Good Morning
Same here. Another 3 weeks and it should be turning green but unless we get some moisture it won't last long, had a very dry winter, less than a foot of snow all winter and most of it was dry stuff and was gone within a week or two of falling.- Subaru with CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission)
I have a 2011 Nisssan Murano Cross Cabriolet with the CVT and Nissan says the same thing, lifetime fluid but recommend UOA to determine change intervals starting @ 120K or somewhere in that range but I will change it up anyhow around 50-60K with Amsoil just for peace of mind. Nissan was the first to design and engineer and bring CVT trannies to the market, heck some other MFG,s that run CVT trannies have the Nissan unit in them. Ford runs them in a lot of their vehicles and have for many years.- New arrival to the collection!
Not anymore, once the title is zinged as damaged the factory warranty is gone unless the repair was done at the dealer and or with 100% OEM parts............that said, if I run into any issues I am going to the dealer with sealed lips to see if they catch it or not, see if they have the VIN # in their data base as such or not...........................won't hurt to try then play innocent stupid if they reject the warranty.- New arrival to the collection!
Both my wife and I have both killed this one as well, just a new learning curve trying to get the feel of the power and clutch. If it wouldn't have been for the great car the 03 has been we probably wouldn't have looked twice at this one. 271K and absolutely nothing but basic maintenance items and still going strong but is getting close to needing a clutch, doesn't slip but is getting towards the top of the pedal in stroke and is getting a bit hard, not bad for the OEM one to make it that long especially with the amount of town driving it sees daily as well. The 2014 MK6 Jetta is a so much bigger car than the 2003 MK3 Jetta, a ton more room in the cab and trunk and way more comfy to drive and ride in than the 03.- New arrival to the collection!
Got about 200 miles on it since picking it up and I drove it to town and back tonight to get a feel for it and all is A OK just like a brand new car so far.- An eye candy project.
They show using it on wheels on their site. http://www.sharkhide.com/index.html- An eye candy project.
Decided to polish the tubes on my pontoon finally, Did it before my last pontoon ever saw the water, but as one gets older the ambition factor diminishes but last weekend it was in the 70's in march woo hoo!!! decided to get it done before season #4 on this pontoon. some pics of the project. 14 hours into doing just the outside of the outer tubes and the rear of both tubes and a sore body for 3 days after. Used Mothers aluminum polish, there are a ton of different metal polishes out there but this was readily available and easy to get and it worked on my last toon so I just went with it, used a standard variable speed buffer with a wool pad, after the final wipe down with acetone and final quick hand buff I put 2 coats of Sharkhide on it to keep them looking like this for years. Sharkhide is basically a clear coat for aluminum which has a chemical make up to it to prevent etching of organic growth and barnacles to adhering to the aluminum like you see hanging on boats that are kept in the water, they can still be on this but it will easily pressure wash off versus the harsh cleaners or acids and washing and scrubbing needed if they were allowed to etch into raw aluminum. Just thought I would share something different. Folks on the water love this as not many folks go through a labor intensive project like this, last toon I had done this to got several comments and thumbs up every time it was on the water. Makes me feel "special" I guess. - COV (cascade overflow valve) Removal
