  1. Having worked in a gear shop for 4 years and doing it for over 20 years on all types of other equipment and doing literally hundreds of them I have to call BS on that shops general info on the Dodge LS units "Going out". The same unit has been used in other rigs with dana axles the last 20+ years, it hasn't changed. There are 2 types of dana eaton clutch type LS units, one is a trac lock and one is a power lock the power lock has a V shape on one side on the cross shaft and in the case and uses a torsion action to actually put more pressure on the discs if it tries to slip and is a stronger better unit and heavier case than the trac lock which is the most common and has a round cross shaft for the side gears. I hve seen where the light pressure of the trac lock stack the OEMs require to prevent chatter can still one wheel in some situations and if done regularly will glaze the clutch discs and cause little to no LS action and can chatter after the plates and discs warp but it is rare other than that there is little in them to "Go out". An eaton friction Disc kit is about 40 bucks last time I bought one and it takes about half hour to install if the carrier is on a bench already. Power lock picture to see what the cross shaft looks like. Regular trac lock will look similar to this, notice the cross shaft and case differences.
  2. lol................No matter what lube you run you need limited slip additive to make the clutch discs happy. You can not believe how hard they chatter in corners without it. It will do just exactly what you describe and then some in some cases depending on the oil. I am an Amsoil dealer and have always run and built and custom built my own clutch type limited slip units and I have tried most of the different types and weights of Amsoils gear lubes and clutch type units like the regular old 80-w90 the best, the best severe gear oils were the worst as far as clutch chatter went. I called and talked to both eaton and Amsoil and they said that the clutch disc manufacturers have not kept up with the synthetic oil market and still make the same old clutches and both recommended to stay with the regular grades of synthetic oils, This is why factory limited slip units are so weak but better than an open diff, if they stacked the clutches too tight then they get too many warranty claims from disc chatter and related drivability issues from people who don't know any better.
  3. Not a generational thing or brand thing at all but to narrow it down to second gens assuming it has a factory limited slip unit it is a clutch type. If you are not sure if you have a limited slip or not easy way to check is to jack up the rear end and with it in neutral rotate one rear wheel, if it is a limited slip both wheels will turn the same direction, if it is an open differential the wheels will turn opposite of each other. Or leave it in park while jacked up and if you can not turn one rear wheel you have a limited slip and if you can easily turn the wheel and the other turns opposite you have an open diff.
  4. The "Right stuff" by permatex is the best stuff on the planet. Nice thing about it is it displaces oils and will seal unlike any other silicone style sealant where if the area being sealed isn't 100% dry and clean it doesn't stick and will not seal.
  5. lol.............I like to reread my own posts and then edit to add a lot of things after I post, sometimes I do it several times just to see if anyone is paying attention.
  6. The thing I see wrong with it is the length and the distance between the front axle and the hitch could allow for a lot of weight to be too far forward and tow like crap, one would have to be critical of load placement in that length of trailer since it is just a tandem axle plus being 28 feet and only having 6K axles is a bit light especially if one wants to hauls cars around one has to figure in the weight of the bare trailer which is probably fairly heavy to start with.
  7. Do you have a limited slip differential? Reason I ask is since you recently changed oil if you didn't add friction modifier to the oil this will make your clutches chatter and do exactly what you describe, it will not hurt anything but it is annoying but if you do not have a limited slip diff then start by checking u-joints, physically try to move pinion shaft in and out or up and down to see if a pinion bearing has failed usually the input seal will be leaking, jack it up put rear end on jack stands put in neutral rotate driveshaft by hand to feel if you hear any grinding clunking ect, pull plug from diff check oil for metal by dipping your finger in and see what it looks like make sure you listen to outer wheel bearings and brakes while turning the driveshaft. then pull the diff cover and physically look for big chunks of debris. Take pics if possible and post up.
  8. I would put you in the 450 hp 800 tq range with the stack and smarty alone I would guess 375-400 ish.
  9. Takes a bit more pre-trip planning but I like to drive downhill with the wind at my back both ways just like mike.............................
  10. Complied after review of security footage at drive up ATM machine: MAN: 1) Pull up to machine 2) Wind window down 3) Insert ATM card, enter PIN 4) Retrieve cash 5) Drive away WOMAN: 1) Pull up to machine 2) Open door (too far away from machine) 3) Search through all of the 112 compartments in handbag for ATM card 4) Do make up, apply lipstick, fix hair 5) Insert Card 6) Remove card 7) Insert card the correct way up 8) Search for piece of paper with PIN on it 9) Enter PIN 10) Enter correct PIN 11) Retrieve cash, put in bag 12) Drive off 13) Reverse back to machine 14) Retrieve card 15) Drive three miles away 16) Release hand-brake
  11. The Texas Department of Employment, Division of Labor Standards claimed a small rancher was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an agent out to investigate him. GOVT AGENT: I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them. RANCHER: Well, there's my hired hand who's been with me for 3 years. I pay him $200 a week plus free room and board. Then there's the mentally challenged guy. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night so he can cope with life. He also sleeps with my wife occasionally. GOVT AGENT: That's the guy I want to talk to - the mentally challenged one. RANCHER: That would be me.

  13. On my 05 I have about 200 bucks into a muffler elimination pipe and 30" FTE resonator in place of the Cat and a couple clamps all in the OEM 4" exhaust system. No need to replace something that is still good and already 4" Turbo back. I realize you 2nd genners don't have 4" OEM but they do make pipe adapters.
  14. Anything with Oats is just about as bad, it is a grain of grass as is corn in the same category, remember It is a carbohydrate and spikes the blood glucose which is what we need to avoid, molasses is better than maple syrup which is pure sugar with a very high glycemic index rating as well as Honey. The only thing better about oats than Wheat is it is gluten free grain but a still a grass grain. I am totally grain free, no rice of any kind, no corn or byproducts of any kind or any other grass grains, gave up beer and now only drink dark Jamaican rums, Gin, dark Brandy, wine and Tequila. Also am big on the new Ciders that are coming along all the time, Angry Orchard brand ciders are my wife and I favorite that replaced grain beers. On occasion in moderation though.
  15. Definitely nice sounding without the bellar.
  16. Reminds me of the ol saying "Don't worry bout the mule, just load the wagon!!!"
  17. Even the door stickers are to be taken with a grain of salt as not all "E" rated tires are created equal as far as rated load capacity, this can skew the #'s on the door sticker by quite a little depending on the actual brand tire rating. This is more ball park figures. Made in Mexico. Tequila anyone?????
  18. We have the same thing going on here this winter, 50's in January and sub 0 thru Feb so far and very little snow going on 2 winters in a row. Have had 3 very wet cool summers and falls though so subsoil moisture is high and all water holes are still full.
  19. After running a 30" resonator alone on my 05 for a week or so now and towing with it a couple times, I like it the best of all set ups I have had.
  20. Just for reference here, every time one spikes your Glucose or blood sugar by eating sugars, starches from any source of carbohydrate especially grains and others it causes your insulin levels to spike when this happens it triggers hormones to store fat but worse yet is your HDL or Good cholesterol which is the large ones are attacked by the insulin which breaks it down causing LDL or the so called Bad cholesterol which is isn't but the high levels of it over time is what causes havoc with hormones ect and throws off your system. When ones system is stable and insulin and glucose levels are normal your cholesterol stabilizes and all else is happy. The lies that are thrown around that high cholesterol is bad and one needs to be on low fat low salt diet are just that... false. The body requires and needs cholesterol and fat from meats to properly function, especially important are organ meats from good clean organic sources for proper nutrition that's hard to get from supplements. This is how we evolved as a species and still need to this day. Our bodies know how to deal with fat and natural cholesterol from meat, what it doesn't know how to handle is high glucose levels from spiked insulin levels caused by eating a diet high in carbs which has never been normal in out evolution. Nuts and berries and other greens are also natural in our diets, we evolved as foragers and hunters, not grain farmers we learned to eat this from hard times watching other animals eat it and it evolved over time to what we have today. Some say that bread is talked about in the bible, yes but that was after evolution and what is more important to is the grains of a couple thousand years ago are not the grains of today, they were very extremely low in Gluten as compared to our modern grains bred and genetically modified to increase gluten. Grass species are extremely prolific and cross breed like crazy and have gone through eons of natural hybridizing as well which has changed what we eat now versus grains of thousands of years ago. Scientists who study skeletal history can identify exactly when grains were introduced and became dependent on in our evolution because of cavities deformations and malnutrition of young dying before the age of 2-3 and other diseases that did not show up before the introduction of grains into our diets.
  21. YOU LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have seen pics from around your home on here in the past of your stash of pop and junk food, don't try to pull one over on us. On a side note it isn't about gaining weight, every ones metabolism is different but it is the damage you are causing in your body from eating grain that happens over time that will get you, might not feel it today but it will show up eventually if you do not get regular blood panels done to see what exactly is happening within. Your hormone levels need to be monitored with blood panels if one is off your entire system can get screwed up in a real hurry. My wifes mother just found this out with a health scare a few months ago with a mini stoke resulting from her Thyroid being off, she knew it was off a few years ago but didn't follow through with supplements "Because she felt fine". My wife is an avid athlete runs marathons has been a very religious person about her health and diet and had blood panels done a year ago and found out her Thyroid was off as well and she felt like a million bucks, it was a wake up call to her one can't take things for granted, blood panels are the only way to know ahead of time. But one needs to find an honest DR. most Naturopathic Dr's will help the most and go through the details and aged based and specific blood panel results on a very personal level and will try to help in a non drug approach first. Taking care of our rigs is of little use if we do not take care of ourselves first to be around to enjoy them.
  22. Donnie Vincent hits the nail on the head here in this preview of his documentary. I love this guys take on life. I love his points starting at about the 1:30 mark on. http://donnievincent.com/who-we-are/ Unrelated but he did a documentary here in ND as well. Just west / Northwest of me about 100 or so miles. For those who think all of ND is a flat waste land. http://donnievincent.com/the-rivers-divide/
