  1. Rancherman, your wife absolutely needs to read Dr. William Davis "Wheat Belly book" and "Wheat belly total health" if she is a diabetic, If she is type 2 she could cure herself not just control it by diet exercise and basic supplements after reading these books and coming from a pre diabetic state myself and totally turning it around in a year I now know this is possible and all from reading his books explain so much. Once one reads these books one realizes how bad grains really are in our body, I have not felt bloated or tired after a meal for a very long time ever since giving up grains totally, also do not have any ups and downs throughout the day anymore from the glucose highs and lows from all things grain in our diets anymore. It is all about controlling our glucose levels that drive our overall health which I now live having gone through it personally with the help of a natropathic DR. and blood panel draws every 3-4 months to make sure everything was progressing right and to make sure I was on the correct supplements to get my hormones and everything else back on track after the rapid weight loss and body changes I was going through. The body fat holds an unbelievable amount of toxins and poisons that the body needs help flushing out once the fat is being lost to help out the other organs trying to deal with the toxin dumping back into the system. My wife has several total vegetarian friends who are extremely unhealthy and rely totally of the health care industry for help and refuse healthy vitamins and supplements and it shows with all the health issues they "All" the ones who refuse the extra supplements and vitamins have. Stay away from OJ and Grapefruit juices as well. One 8 oz. glass of either has as much sugar in it as eating the equivilant of a dozen of each of the actual thing in one sitting. OK to eat the actual fruit in moderation but not the juice same goes for some other juices.
  2. If he was a true healthy vegetarian he is on a huge load of supplements to go along with those veggies. My mother in law and sister in law consider themselves vegetarians but they both eat all types of bird meats and all fish.
  3. Where one runs into issues especially with aluminum wheels is side loading them with a gooseneck or 5th wheel trailer and doing tight jackknife turns putting excess side loading on the wheels, look at any tire shop and you will find piles of them in the scrap heap that are cracked or bent from this. I have never done it but have several friends who have damaged wheels this way.
  4. There is no such thing as what government agencies who tell the nutritional and medical industry what to cram down our throats which is the term "Healthy whole Grains" There are numerous time lines that prove that diabetes and obesity rates have risen since the introduction of the food pyramid program in early 80's now renamed "My plate" instead of the food pyramid, both put whole grains as the main primary source of food in our diets. Wheat and corn are the biggest enemy of our overall health period, one has to get it out of our diets for overall health, many of the health issues are cumulative meaning they show up and develop over long periods of time, diseases like alzheimers, dimensia and many other neurological diseases and other brain related diseases are now linked to the consumption of grains. Wife and I use Coconut , black bean and Almond flours and meals now as well as using Cashew meal for some things to replace flours from grains, it is a different style and texture and takes time to get used to but there are many cook books set up for this now and more coming along all the time The books I have mentioned and linked to in other threads here can explain things so much better than I can. Both Dr's have web sites as well. Both of these doctors realized what was happening and are trying to reeducate the masses to the fact that medical schools used to teach the cure and healing of patients and now the schools teach the "Treatment" of health issues now just go with the flow and don't think critically................again follow the money. I have a couple nieces who are Nurses and they are perfect examples of this process. They are so brain washed you can't even talk to them about things like this with them, if it doesn't come from a prescription bottle then its not going to help with anything. For true gluten free paleo diet type cooking try the cook books from Daniel walker against all grain.http://againstallgrain.com/ This is personal for me as my mother died from complications from MS and ultimately diabetes and my sister was diagnosed with MS a few years ago and is very obese herself and my mothers side of the family all suffered from lifestyle inflicted diet related diabetes and obesity, I was going down the same road and hated the way I felt and looked and decided to fix the issue before I had health issues from this take over my life. I was born and raised on a large 7K acre farm and ranch and we raised most of our own food but having left the farm 20 years ago and seeing how modern farming practices and the development of GMO grains ect from an out side view and seeing the results of this on our societies health from the last 30 years I could see personally looking back woke me up and I started researching and reading and it has changed my life for the better. Look at our native American state of health since we introduced grain into their diets, diabetes is rampant, look at every 3rd world country in the last 20-30 years we have so called brought out of poverty, like the inuits of Alaska and northern Canada and African and south and central American tribes that were totally healthy on their own native diets then the "developed world" introduced them to refined sugars and grains as we eat and within 6 months to a year every one of them have diabetes rates of over 50%, hard to ignore the evidence that is right up front. Follow the money, big ag develops grain foods to keep us all sick and then big pharma whom most are one in the same companies who are developing the grains can develop medicines to "treat' never cure all the diseases they helped develop examples of this are Bayer and Syngenta among others develop grains and medicines. Because the only cure is to stay away from these poisons in the first place. Both industries are the biggest lobbyists in our government system now days too.
  5. I left out the most important part of feeling and being better overall. Its what you take out of your diet that will be the lifesaver versus adding supplements and other good things on top of the crap our food market is flooded with now days. Cut out all refined sugars, high fructose corn syrups, cut out any and everything with grain in it and cut out all the cheap processed foods and you will drop weight and feel tons better doing that alone but from my years journey it was going grain free that made the biggest difference. Do not fall for the gluten free labeled foods either what most do is remove the wheat from it but then add tons more sugar, fats and starches "Sugar" from a lot of other forms of grain, in most cases you are better off eating the regular crappy food than the gluten free labeled food, this is why it is best to just go grain free, the human body was never meant to eat grain in any form to start with. We feed it to cattle for one reason...........to fatten them up, what happens then when we eat it?????? It makes up more than 75-80% of the foods we eat anymore which is why there is so much obesity and tons of new and rampant diseases that have gotten out of control over the last 50 years all related to grain consumption. Dr William Davis "Wheat Belly book" and "Wheat Belly total health" books are a great reads. Dr David Perlmutter "Grain Brain" book is also a good read to learn more about the dangers of grain in our diets and how it affects us all and how it does so.
  6. Remember also the weight of stainless versus Aluminized. I would never run a stainless systems myself just personally as I run too rough of roads and off road regularly, we also do not have quite the caustic stuff on our winter roads like some parts of the country but I have several friends that have had stainless systems who run rough roads or off road on a regular basis and the hanger clamps never hold up trying to hold the extra weight of the stainless systems they are always fixing and re-welding clamps, this with 4" I don't know of anyone running 5 " in these conditions there is absolutely no use for it unless running 800+hp all the time.
  7. My old 1998 Honda TRX 300 one lunger had to have seasonal idle adjustments made as well. summer adjustment wasn't enough to keep it running in winter, winter adjustment was high idle all the time in summer. Never could find a sweet spot that was good year round, but was a simple 2 second adjustment as they put an easy to get to thumb screw on the carb, even my gorilla hand could do it with light gloves on.
  8. Yep these are what I like to use a lot. work awesome, they form to whatever you are clamping them to. they are a straight piece of material but hold things very stable and tight as well. Most jobbers carry them, I always keep a couple on hand in my shop for those just in case times of need. Diamond eye is about as reasonable as one can get and can set them up as needed.
  9. That is a big issue too as it is about the most stable of oils at high heat and doesn't break down when and cause bad stuff cooked with.
  10. Clamps are the way to go, welding is the enemy if you want to take apart or adjust or anything else you are screwed. I really like and use a lot of the form a seal clamps in certain areas where one doesn't need a hanger clamp. They do not deform the pipe they seal up the exhaust and it allows things to come apart or make adjustments much easier down the road. Go with a simple cheap mandrel bent aluminized system to keep weight and cost down. Definitely go with a resonator mounted as far forward as possible from FTE diesel to eliminate drone in the cab 30" if extended cab and if added quiet is wanted go with a muffler
  11. Also known as EPA / DHA, Simply put Omega 3 fatty acids from natural fish oils. Coconut oils have excellent health benefits as well. my wife and I cook almost everything with it, even make popcorn with it. Even helps the body process the vitamin D even better and help absorb it.
  12. You should offer a trade in program, I will be getting a Smarty touch system................if I can find a new home for my Jr POD, but if you offered a trade in program..........well you know I would already have my touch
  13. I used to be that way 24/7 when I was very overweight not so long ago, I could not go more than a week without seeing a chiropractor and a lot of times twice a week., fast forward 13 months and 80 lbs. lighter I now am seeing the chiro every 3 -4 weeks just for maintenance and the aches and pains are gone. Also I have loaded up heavy on some basic supplements and the one you may want to consider for your overall health as well as joint health are 1. high quality multi vitamin 2. EPA DHA Omega 3 fatty acids and load up heavy on it like 2000 or more IU a day this is great for the joints and overall cardio vascular system and brain health and 3. last is High quality Vitamin D3 again high quality not from big box chain stores most times the cheap ones are synthetic and do you no good and can actually do you harm long term.
  14. The sway bar bushings and end links on all 3 of my second gens wore out first, all started squeaking and I could feel slight clunk in certain conditions as I have the same thing going on with my 05 now too but without the squeak yet. http://www.genosgarage.com/ENERGY-SUSPENSION-30MM-SWAY-BAR-BUSHINGS-94-12/productinfo/ES_55127G/#.VOJxo_Pna70 http://www.genosgarage.com/MAXX-LINKS-SWAY-BAR-LINKS-APR-95-99-4WD/productinfo/SMX-1224/#.VOJx1vPna70
  15. Wifes 03 VW Jetta TDI has a VP pump on it and has about 280K on it as well as the injectors although it is about due for a set of nozzles "Holding off spending money on it now, want to be rid of it this summer / fall for something newer" and it has rarely seen any additives at all if any it has seen a few tanks a year of Amsoil diesel treat additive, no issues as of yet with it and regular 20K miles fuel filter changes as recommended by VW, been running Hastings oil and fuel filters since it had 30K on it when I bought it. There has been an occasional Wix thrown in about once a year depending on where I am when picking up parts.
  16. I think he meant that it is more common to replace the worn rubber junk on front suspension components of a 2wd and folks overlook the same needs on a 4wd.
  17. This is an issue a lot do not catch especially on the older rigs now. Anything with rubber mounts are prone to this. I am a big fan of replacing any rubber bushings and mounts with Poly Urethane bushings rather than replacing good hard parts just because of worn out dry rotted rubber.http://www.genosgarage.com/ENERGY-SUSPENSION-FRONT-CONTROL-ARM-BUSHINGS-94-02-4WD/productinfo/ES_53120G/#.VOFI8rB0yUk http://www.genosgarage.com/ENERGY-SUSPENSION-MOTOR-MOUNT-INSERTS-985-02-24V/productinfo/ES_51116G/#.VOFJTbB0yUk
  18. NGK and or Champion are as good as they get and you were right to pass on the marketing scams of the fancy mulit prong and exotic material plugs, often times if not all the time perform worse than any other on he market. Be careful of hotter plugs, you could wind up with a hole in a piston fairly quick, especially on a one cylinder rig that's getting worked hard.
  19. Thing drives awesome, I can actually feel all of the shift points now, not harsh at all but they are distinct kind of like older pre electronic controlled auto trannies where you could actually feel the shift points not like most new vehicles or the way it was stock where you could slightly feel the 1-2 shift and nothing from there other than engine differences telling you it shifted not like the soft sloppy sliding in shift points, converter is definitely tighter, throttle response off idle is like running a smarty with TQ management turned to lowest setting, very touchy and instant response almost touchy, will take some getting used to and part of it may be the Bully Dog as well but I think most of it is just the tighter converter putting more of the 5.7 Hemi 390+ hp and 407+ tq to the ground now. Now I need to see how it does with a trailer on behind it should pull nice, I think all said and done I was hearing the tranny issue as I can not pick up on what I perceived as an engine miss anymore either. Now with the new responsiveness I definitely need the Limited slip diff carrier as I can see a lot more one wheel slip with this setup.
  20. Way too worried about such small things, even if there were any small flakes to fall in they are so small they would blow right through the exhaust at startup before the turbo even thought about starting to spin. To be honest there are probably bigger pieces of carbon going through things quite regularly than you do small bits of one time metal specs. Look at how many engines have catastrophic failures with missing piston chunks valve head pieces and injector tips that have gone through without so much as a mark left on the turbo fins.
  21. Check out the classifieds, up for grabs is my current Smarty JR POD for 5.9 CR 400 bucks shipped, I need to sell this first before ordering my next upgrade which will be the Smarty touch setup. I knew if I held out long enough on gauges and such the perfect thing I was waiting for all along would come along and now it is a reality.
  22. For now its basically a slight stabilization and nobody is complaining as it is giving everyone and business owners of all types time to catch up and refresh and regroup from the last couple years of going all out. Every thing in life needs these types of things for healthy growth, gives time to reflect and refine and streamline going forward to cut costs and come up with new ideas for better future longevity and survival. Only makes things stronger and better. Got the Bully Dog GT updated with new update software from BD site and reregistered in my name now and got it loaded up on the Hemi this morning with the "Premium" tune. If the wife and I go out on the town for a date tonight will get my shot at the first feel for the fresh improved tranny along with some engine tuning from the BD GT as well, will see how it does at 0 degrees.
  23. Ha Ha! The local Dodge dealer wanted 3800 alone for a factory reman tranny that after core to boot for the same junk I had to start with. I have to say that with the fuel to haul to and from the tranny shop, two trips to the dealer for troubleshooting and the rebuild I have right at 3500 into it. Also remember this is the land of plenty so prices are fairly high for a lot of things with the healthy economy we have going yet here in ND. They build the tranny with the same 4th gear clutch pack as the 68rfe tranny behind the cummins to live a longer life, said the new electronic trannies are hard to mod as they are computer controlled and no company has stepped up for the light duty tuners to unlock the ecm for tuning like they have for the diesel industry. They also put an upgraded converter in it, said it is a bit tighter anti ballooning plate converter "Whatever that means" with better LUK clutch disc versus the stocker. Also do improvements to the VB with a shift kit and some pump work as well.
  24. Tranny shop called and she is ready to roll, $3245 out the door, I have not seen the itemized bill yet to see details, I supplied my own oil and line pressure booster fooler I bought just before this happened and the tranny shop said they install on all of these anyhow. Headed there from work to load it up and bring it home. Its In Dickenson ND 75 miles west of me so I got to go home a bit early from work hook up the gooseneck and boogy down the road before they close, good thing the time change line is half way between me and them so I gain an hour that way otherwise I would have to wait until next week. They said that 4th gear clutch pack and converter lockup clutch were both damaged from slippage. They went back in with a Precision of New Hampton IA converter will know more about it by tonight and will post back mre details after I find out and have a chance to drive it for reference over the weekend.
