New-To-Me Truck
Based on recent issues I would look to FASS, plus you can add a heater.

High Idle Kit Is Here
I was less than pleased when I found out. And why I have this....

High Idle Kit Is Here
Perfectly normal, your oil pressure gauge is fake. It's run by the ECM in an algorithm of what it should be. Diesel engines have large pressure swings for small rpm changes and dodge got tired of warranty claims for normal operation and took the sender out of the picture. 3rd gen and newer trucks don't even have an oil psi sender, just a 6psi switch. What's funny is the owners manual still tells you to watch for proper oil pressure, even thou it could be 8psi (below the min requirement for idle) the gauge will still show ~40. I have a real pressure gauge, the only time my OEM cluster is correct is 1300 rpms with a warm engine.

As soon as I get fan control with UDC I plan to run a 200 as well.

Miniature Engines
I want a mini cummins for s&g.

Cool Runnings
The minimum temp for full power operation is 160°.

Done, thank you.

3rd Gen, and better make it 8". $15 is very fair, PM how you would like payment.

High Idle Kit Is Here
I would be more than happy to test it out for you. I was going to PM you about getting a 6" ECT sensor extension, I want to run my ECT sender at the port by cyl #2 vs #1 I think it's going to be hotter and run the fan better when towing. I believe they advance it. Cold air needs more timing than warm air for combustion to occur at the same CAD.

The cruise control option is different than the automatic option. The automatic (not talking transmission) is enabled on every 3rd and 4th gen truck. It takes coolant below 180, IAT (from MAP) below 66, and ambient below 32( I don't know if it's from the IAT by the turbo, or trucks ambient sensor thou), after 2 minutes it will go to 1000. Still useful for warmup and cool down. As I mentioned in an earlier post this would work well for most 03's and 10+ manuals as they have no means to increase idle if the ambient temp is above freezing. Only the very very rare late 03 has the option to use the cruise control fast idle. Like the 2nd gens with 3cyl a Smarty will enable the cruise control option for 3rd gens.

There is something not correct with his data, it's doesn't make any logical sense. Nearly all of the air going into the engine bay crosses the intercooler, a/c condenser and radiator, it's then heated by the 200° block, 1000°+ exhaust manifold, and 400°+ charge air pipe. A BHAF pulls nearly all of it's air from that same engine bay, a small amount comes from the hole in the fender. How are you only going to see a +20° rise? It's not going to happen, that's how. With my sealed box, pulling air from only outside the engine bay I see a 15° rise over ambient 4" after the filter when pulling a grade. With a temp probe on the outside of the box it is 125° over ambient, and that is believable 20° is not.

Hail Call, Ah64Id...….smarty Question
PM me your address and I'll drop you one. I have a dozen of them not being used, they come with the UDC Dongles I get for tuning people trucks.

I didn't think that ISX tested it while heavy towing did he? Highways under hood temps are much lower than pulling a grade. I know my underhood temps were up to 125° hotter than the ambient temp after pulling a 2-3 mile grade at 1100° on a 85° day, and the thermostat full open (that alone made the temp go up again). That is all with manifold blankets that are keeping most of the manifold heat in the manifold. The turbo efficiency is what is decreased, and by the time your at the intercooler you won't see it. The turbo will be spinning faster than needed, which lowers the efficiency.

Tuning: MY03 pistons and BBi Stage 1's in a MY05 truck
Dyno time is scheduled!! 21 Feb at 1400. Motor Mayhem in Meridian Idaho for anyone local who wants to come out. I now have 1500 miles on the rebuild/tune and really like how it runs. I have done a little towing with it and its a much smoother motor, hard to tell on strength in a few miles and the camper was about 1,500 lbs ligher than loaded for camping.. but it pulls is very effortlessly from 1800 rpms up and on flat ground 1600 rpms in OD was very usable, much better than before.

Programmers - Tuners?
Great!!

If an air filter gives you better economy when you are cruising there was something seriously wrong with the previous setup. Look at how little air the engine uses at cruise, vs pulling a grade with the turbo at 25-30 psi. The mileage increase might be from warmer air, but that's a double edge sword as hotter air is good for mileage when empty but bad for turbo performance when towing.

Track Bar
The steering stabilizer brace is a huge improvement, on stock tires! If you haven't ran one then you don't realize what you are missing. After installing it I wish I had done it when the truck was new. If you are lifted/leveled then you want the adjustable track bar, I think there are adjustable options that are good quality and cheaper than Carli.

Programmers - Tuners?
Yes. When you get the unit go to the MADS website and update it with the Revo software to ensure you have the latest and greatest.

Subscription Emails
Which is what it's doing, and filling my inbox. Every other forum instant is only 1 email as soon as the thread is updated. There could be 100 new posts between logins, but only 1 email. That's how the old software worked as well.

Programmers - Tuners?
There are 9 SW levels, and then Revo settings in each. The VP trucks work a little different than the HPCR's, IIRC the VP tunes all make about the same peak power but the low/mid changes with the SW settings. I am not a VPologist, but I would start with SW5 Torque 2, Timing 2, Duration 3 and go from there.

Cool Runnings
I disagree, if there isn't some form of winter front the temp will drop very quickly. By the time the thermostat closes from lack of heat most of the block has already received the cold coolant from the radiator and cooled down, the idling or low power use means minimal heat and the truck can cool down to about 180-185° at a light. A winter front makes a HUGE difference on this, not only does the radiator stay warmer but so does the engine bay. Even on a 10° day once things warm up the engine bay is thinking it's closer to a 60-70° day. I haven't ran my 3rd thermostat without the winter front yet, but my previous two were Cummins and both acted the same. I have seen the temp go from 194-195° while cruising to 180° on an off ramp without a winter front on a 5° day.

Programmers - Tuners?
Absoloutly, that's one of the great things about smarty is that you can adjust the setting to your liking.

Subscription Emails
Has anyone gotten these figured out on the new software? My preferred method is to receive one email when the thread is updated, until I log in and check the thread. This is how the old software worked, and all the other forums I frequent. The setting I am on is sending me an email for every post, regardless if I have seen the thread since the last post or not. I tried the offline setting, but was missing threads because there was a delay in the software realizing I was offline and if something posted in that delay time I was not notified. All the emails in the screenshot were received overnight, during a time period where I didn't log into the website once. I should have received 3 email for 3 threads, not 15 emails for 3 threads. I would have posted this in the website forum but it's restricted and I cannot open/see it. Any help? Oh yeah, on a side not I am note allowed to upload attachments.

Sounds like that is all the boost you can make with your fuel, do you have any fueling modules?
