  1. No studs on mine, that saved some money. But did put the 6.7 rocker arm assemblies in. Just did not like the galling on some of the oe ones. I did get very lucky on the machine shop. I also spent about 250 bucks on some rebuilt RV's but that was my choice. Truck runs great too. No problem on part. Kind of comes with the territory. Weren't we talking about transmission shifting?
  2. Did you by any chance adjust your valves or mess with the push rod adjusters?
  3. $215. Gaskets $260 Rockers $150. Engine hoist $350. Machine shop $ 45. Studs for exhaust manifold $150. Misc tools and supplies $1170 = 1.5 Quads More savings needed. No new coops in the future either.
  4. Now all I need is a Quad. The money for it is sitting on top of my engine block.
  5. 1, 3, 4 and 5 with good fuel to them should start the engine just fine. It will idle rough until all the air is out but it should run. You can run it with the intake horn off no problem. I had to hunt my lifting bracket up. Took it off 8 or 9 years ago while replacing my oe injectors. The only time you really need it is for removing the head. I did not put the bolts back in the block but cannot see them being there an issue. See what happens with different injectors.
  6. Ahh. Now I see the my confusion.
  7. What ever size you have on the truck.
  8. About 35 cents a gallon. Everything was a lot cheaper then, including wages. This also right before the arabs started pulling chains at the pump. This was full service gas too. Get a dollars worth and you were set for the night
  9. Have to dig into it a bit more in the weeks to come,
  10. I would have to think it is something you messed with, nothing personal. Mine acted very similar after #6 valve bridge fell off after the head gasket install. Know anyone with a spare set of injectors you can try?
  11. This would mean they are used. How much is anyones guess unless you know how long they have been in there.
  12. Mine was more than 5%, just by feel anyway, more 15 to 20. But going straight to the selctor stopped it. It seems to have moved it to the floor. But I dont know that for sure because I dont think I ever paid any attention to it. On a different note about 3 months ago put the truck into 4wd and the light did not come on. It did not seem to be in 4wd but at the time I ignored it figuring to deal with it later. Thought about it again after replumbing the the vacuum line. So I put it in 4wd low and still no light. Even backed it up and down the drive way, nothing. So I put in 2wd hi and backed out of the driveway. When I made the right hand cut onto the road you could feel it bind up. Sure enough I had it in 4wd hi. Put in 2wd hi and it backed out fine. Burnt out bulb maybe or more vac leaks???
  13. Mine actually turned out to be the sensor. I bought a Standard Motor brand from Orielly's for $100. The other parts houses wanted near $200 for them. I thought Cummins was near that price too. I also have not seen one for $20;
  14. Dead giveaway there. Of course I was working part time after school for a buck 80 or 90 then too.
  15. Another dead giveaway.
  16. I already have a head start on you.
  17. I dont know about the spitting sputtering. I do know you need to at least disconnect the old charge wire from the PDC if you did not remove it. It is no longer needed. You dont want it shorting to anything.
  18. Kinda figured that. It has been a catch all for the past good while. The cowl looks good again though. It had faded pretty bad over the years.
  19. I gave to add to this. When installed the used rockers I swapped out the adjusters from the oe to the used ones. Made sure they went back on the same pushrods and the pushrods went back in the same holes. Hopefully they will all be happy to be together again.
  20. I should have said tubing instead of hose. I believe the oe tubing going thru got cooked from the heat of exhaust. Never quite ubderstood why that tubing crosses the firewall just to come thru and go back to the side it started from.
  21. I like going after the wrench or the bolts, getting to the shop and standing there trying to remember why I went to the shop in the first place. Or three.
  22. If you're talking about the cowl, its paint. I used plastic trim paint. I did my front bumber covers with it it about 2 years ago and they have held up much better than expected.
  23. Welcome. That is a nice ride. Wish you well in your new business and the truck. Seems we get more international every day.
