1. I am going to have to check, but what I remember about mine is the wires from the thermo couple runs to the tuner and then to the gauge. All my paperwork on it is in NC.
2. MIne is acting in a similar manor. If I stand on it hard it will go up to about 800* and sit there until I back off, then it will jump up in the 1200* range very quickly. Some times it works fine and others not. It was reading crazy low temps the other day. I was thinking bad thermo couple, but I believe Hex change his out the other day.
3. While you have the weight off of the wheels, take a prybar or a shovel will work and put it under the tire and see if there is any up and down movement. Up and down movement is a sign of ball joints going out. There seems to be differances in how much movement is bad. I was always told any movement is bad, but others here have said some movemnet is OK. Not sure how much would be OK. When I checked mine they were moving up and down 3/8". My steering was pretty bad and the movement was just confirmed to me they needed replacing.
4. I just replaced my 2 rear ones for $49 each plus tax from advance auto. They had the infamous "made in china" on them, so only time will tell. I kept my oe's and will have them turned the next time I do the rear brakes. I did not have time for this on my last trip home. Had to do it out of necessaty.
5. Next time you take off with your trailer stop in at a truck stop with a cat scale. It cost me $10 and they weigh the rig all at once, both truck axles and the trailer axles. You get a print out giving the wieght of each individaul axle on the truck and the weight on the trailer axles. here is mine from last year. cat scale 10-3 -11.pdf
6. Ok since you mentioned me, i will have to say that procrastination is a bad thing. I seem to get engulfed in it form tiime to time. I am working on that one. You must have alot of my mother in you. It shows. Emily Ripley would be proud to have known you. I think you would have felt the same of her. Obama seems to want alot of us to think the government is going to take care of us. I dont believe in that for a moment. The government cant take care of itself much less any of us. So I am looking to do that for myself. I personally think they are to far into my life as it is. You two take good care of the homested and yourselves and we will try for the same here.
7. Diesel fuel has been hauling goods across this country since I remember being alive. As I remeber diesel was still cheaper that gas when I boutght my truck in 01. I still think the LSD(low sulfur diesel to yo hippies out there) and ULSD have a lot to do with it. Demand for it is greater now I believe. None of those things help. Your guess is as good as mine. - - - Updated - - - Diesel fuel has been hauling goods across this country since I remember being alive. 8. If you have any doubts of the care taken of the truck, it cant hurt any thing. It should give you peace of mind if nothing else.
9. I will have to give Banks a call. It worked fine today and yesteday morning, but was a little goofy yesterday afternoon.
10. I have a Banks Dyna fact connected thru a thermo couple. I cant remember if it goes thru the otto mind tuner . but i think not. It has worked fine the past 2 days but still acts up. sometimes I stick my foot to the floor and it hangs. Let off and and it jumps 4 or 500 degrees. Not sure what is happening.
11. unemployment in this country is still sitting at 8.2%.In my neck of the woods it is over 10%. there is nothing showing that is going to reduce that. If you have a jpb, hold on to it, we are not out of the woods yet.
12. I noticed my EGT gauge was pretty whacky today. It was bouncing up and down, and when I floored it it actually decreased in temp. As soon as I started to back off it would increase. Just kinda all over the scale. I am thinking the thermo couple is going bad. Anyone had this happen before?
13. Unless you are looking for some super HP those RV's are fantastic. I spent $2500 on the banks system 7 years ago and got some good power from it. i am not disappointed in their product at all. But the RV's at $300 was just as good or better.
14. That is pretty strange. I have no rebuttal to it no more than I could explain it. But if you say it happened, I have no reason not to beleive it.
15. I have read about this before that we do indeed export alot of diesel fuel to foreign markets and They do get a better ptice for it overseas.
16. Same here. I have enjoyed mine since install.
17. I would have to agree with Katoom. It is not the heat the engine is seeing while you are operating, but the heatsoke after shut down. the fuel flow while runnig should keep the fpcm happy. But once that is gone the heat soak starts. I always try to let mine idle down to 275* egt for the turbo, so I hope that helps the VP. I cant see a blower is a bad thing just not sure that is for me.
18. Well Mom, I thinks that is more than I have heard you say the whole time I have been here,at least more empahtic and colorful than what I have read from you in the past. I have been trying simpify my life for the past 5 years and all I have seemed to acomplish is to make it more complicated. Always seem to make my moves a little late. I am at this time a very big believer in less is more. I wish I had been thinking that 5 years ago. Hope you dont mind me calling you Mom, mine passed about 8 years ago and it is nice having someone who aint that much differant from Emily. Nest time I call, maybe you will answer and we can talk about Mike again.
19. I think Rogan was talking about Keystone light. At least I hope so. As far as beer goes. I think alot of the small brewers make some mighty good beer and I love trying them out. I enjoy good whiskey or bourbon on ocassions, but i seem to drink to much of them. Beer is my bevarage of choice and it seems ther never a lack of variety to try. I was pretty much a bud man until I ried out the Yeungleng. Buy it most of the time now. But really do enjoy checking out the local brewers any where I go. - - - Updated - - - For what it is worth. I went to the Yuengleng site and it says they started the brewery in 1839 under a differant name. They change the name to Yuengleng In the late 1800's. So maybe they both have bragging rights. I never heard of Schells, but when I see one I will try one. - - - Updated - - - And you, Ill be in SC one day. I will save all the Keystone light for you.
20. By the way congrats on 3 in a row at 20+. Like to see that one on mine.
21. I guess my 6'4" frame kept me off the hood latch, but me knees were tired of kneeling on the bumper. - - - Updated - - - the only other thing I have ever worked that as I remember was larger was a 1948 oldsmobile coup. That thing had an flathead inline 8 cylinder. It looked like a iron picnic table with spark plugs sticking out of it.
22. I want to see what happens with the tstat I sent you. Mine is definately the opposite of 98's. It sgoing to drive me crazy if it works in your truck and not mine.
23. Dont feel to bad. When I put my AD on I went to prime the fuel system and forgot I had disconnected the fuel line form the filter canister. Just sat in the truck happy it was the pump was working properly. I was listening to it run when I finally realized all the fuel was running on the ground. I had no kity litter or any thing like it, so I pushed the truck back and set the puddle on fire and burnt it off. I dont think the hazmat people would of approved of that, but it was the only option available at the time.
24. They are on the shelf with the heater cores and evapoators.
25. Better yet,Keystone light is pretty cheap. almost as good as Zima.
