  1. They do appear to be a good product and they are a few members here that are running them. I would be interested in seeing how they are doing for others. I would like to know if you have to spend $650 twice as often as you spend $1300.
  2. Thats what my wifes dakota does. It drops about 200 rpm when it locks. I would think it would be very similar.
  3. All my flats were blow outs. I used to run 70 to 75 mph with the tires pretty weel maxxed out on load and tried to watch the pressures pretty close. I also did not know about the speed rating until recently. This last move from Tenn. to Iowa I ran 65 and slower with the tires at about 90% capacity. Pickep up 1.5 mpg also.
  4. I have only done mine once and I went to .008 and .016. I havenot noticed any differance in how mine runs so I might go back to spec and see what happens. Did it before I changed injectors and it did quite the engine some but the rv's brought some clatter back. I have heard of tiiming rattle and injector clatter but do not know what the differance is. Still seems to run the same though, except for the gains with the rv's. very nice.
  5. I saw your thread and was suprised it was the same jonfak I know here. Not trying to beat anyone up, because i make my fair share of mistakes. I do beleive I have seen a thread by ISX that would ease yall's mind. As I remember you can take them to 0 clearance and still not hit the piston. That is what I remember and I am sure ISX will correct me if I am wrong. Not sure if you can cause any other damge unless driven for a long time.
  6. My only experiance with surging(rpm's going up or down on there own)is with a bad ECM. Not saying that is your problem. Mor info is needed. I had many more trouble code than you are seeing.
  7. This is making me wonder if it is the AD quick connects. I have heard of them leaking and I still have an air leak somewhere myself. It only shows up if I park uphill. I have stopped all the fuel leaks I had on the engine, injector lines, return lines, etc. And I can see no fuel leaking any where. A quick bump of the lift pump takes care of it and it cranks right up. Whatever it is, its small.
  8. I'd be a Rebel and I agree 30* aint cold. I have had my truck in 0* weather and not had any gelling problems. Granted not for a steady diet at all, but that kind of weather has not given my truck any problems. At one time used Kleen diesel in mine and never saw any differance in the way the truck ran. When I started 2 cycle it imediatlely got quieter and have been using it since. No mpg gain, but quieter. I dont recoend anything that would make the fuel any thinner and the 2 cycle will stay in mine untill it is not mine anymore.
  9. 97% of my driving is on pavement. the rest around the job site. I have never gotten stuck in anything with them but I try and not put myself in that position.
  10. Good luck to you Mike. All of yall will be our prayers out here.
  11. They are by far the best I have ever run. 265 75r 16's. 65k is the best i ever got from them though. I dont run near as many highway miles as you. They have gotten quite expensive. $250 apiece last time I checked, $1100 out the door. I bought Perrelli scorpians for $800 but looks like 45k to 50k is the max I'll see. Probably save up for some more Michelin's.
  12. Bought my $5 worth yesterday.
  13. When mine came on the front wheel bearing was going bad causing a bad reading for the sensor. Jack the front of the truck up, grab the front tire and see if there is any movement from top to bottom. Movement would indicate a bad bearing and that can cause the sensor get a bad reading and set the lights. If they are tight it could be just the sensor bad. I am not sure how to check the sensor for failure, but I am sure someone else does.
  14. I probably could have used mine again. They appeared in good shape and thinking I had them I just popped them off. So much for thinking.
  15. That is pretty crappy when you look at what they have to replace. The parts are less than $5 if you buy them. the seals anyway, dont know wht the pistons cost if they are bad. Cant be that much. --- Update to the previous post...
  16. Paid the wifes Dakota off last week and am just waiting for the title. First time I have been with out a car payment in close to 15 years, sure feels good.
  17. Welcome to both of you. Not a CR man myself, but plenty of help here for them. So welcome and Semper Fi.
  18. I got every thing done and drove it for about 3 miles. All seemed well, though I got a little wiff of brake. I drove for 5 miles the next day and got some smoke. I figured it was the e brake, so I adjusted them back off and drove about 7 miles to my brothers house and got the same smoke and stink. I got done there and went back home and it got worse. Turns out one of the calipers was frozen. Took it apart and could not find anyone who showed a reubuild kit on there computers. I ended up having to buy a rebuilt caliper. That really sucked at $60. No one here had a kit so i had to buy it. I have to leave for Iowa friday and could not wait on shipping. Rock auto had the kit for rebuild.
  19. My oil started growing last time i moved my 5th wheel. Combined weight 22.5k, pulled up and over the Blue Ridge Mtns and gained enough oil in the first 300 miles to vent thru the crank case breather. Took it easy the next 200 miles, parked the RV and the problem went away. Drove to my daughters house a few weeks later and ran the ____ out of it and it did almost the same thing, just not as bad. I replaced my injectors and cross over tube orings and have not had any problem with oil growing since.
  20. Rotella 15/40 $13 at Wally World every day.
  21. Your lift pump will push fuel thru the VP. I spent 30 minutes one day looking for a fuel leak that was just fuel passing thru it. I had mine cracked open for a restart after the ADII install. It will definately push fuel thru the VP.
  22. Mine actually popped of pretty easy once I looked at it a little better. The ebrake shoes were not holding them, they were to well greased. I am not sure any store has any braked cleaner left. I was shocked at how much brake pad was left after 253k on the factory pads. I put some pictures up soon.
  23. I am running a Isspro mechanical in mine and it works great. Vulcan is as good a place as any for it.
  24. You got a VP from chip for $1k? How long ago was that? I didnt know he had them that cheap.
