  1. welcome. i have seen over on the CF very recently.
  2. i am curious as to what pressures you are running. 17 to 20 at idle and 14 to 17 at wot are good numbers.the dealer did build any confidence with the analysis of the lift pump being oe. what ever you do dont let them or any one else install the in tank pump it is worse than the oe. i just got thru replacing mine with an air dog. i will have to defer ot some more knowlegable folks for your hard starting problem. they cant be far behind me.
  3. you say it is jumpiing around a little at idle. do you have the fp connected thru an isolater or needle valve. if it is not air bubbles you could be experiancing some water hammer on the gauge which could kill it prematuraly. the pressures all look good though.

my 02 HO is rated at 245 hp and 505 ft lbs of torque. this is per the price sticker that was in the window.
  5. beautiful country out there mike. i need ot get up in the blue ridge mtns for few days.
  6. i have a lot of respect for chip. if he tells you to cut a wire, dont do it. find another way.
  7. i also have a blue chip vp. it is tapped for my banks. does the electronics really generate much heat? i know when i put my new fp gauge on, i had to remove the fitting from the vp a few times and it was always hot. i was always suprised at how hot it was. i also let it sit for an hour before i worked on it.
  8. not a good sign, especially since you lost your lift pump. any chance you had the vp disconnected and you forgot to plug it back in? the truck want sart if it is not plugged in and throw a 1689 code. i have had that experiance:doh:.
  9. could not agree with yall more. i seems the more that is given to people the larger that mass of people grows. the more they get the less likely they are going to want to go back to working for it. and to all the people who say illegal aliens have done nothing wrong, why do we call them ILEGALL aliens. can yu inmagine wher you might end up up if you swam south of the border and got caught.
  10. codes and pressure like Mike says and the apps should be reset when ever you disconnect the batteries.
  11. i would have to agrre. 4oz of fuel is very little.like Russ says sometimes i have had codes that did not show up with the key trick.
  12. that fuel is coming out at extremely high pressure and can hurt you. it is under enough pressure to inject it thru your skin. i always crank mine and when it hits i shut it off and tighten the injector lines and restart it . it will run rough until all of the air is out of the lines. it should not take very long to clear up. you ought to run your idle pressure around 17# to 20# and should see maybe 2# to 4# drop at wot. as mike says "keep it in the green". Happy to hear you got her running again.
  13. check out mike's write up on turbos on the main page. the turbo is not hard to take off, just be careful with it. i am not sure what operates your waste gate. mine operates off of exhaust pressure, but mine is not stock and i dont remember what operated my stock one. once you get it off it should be easy to see what is hanging up on it.

welcome from nc. you wil like it here. my puke bottle is still on mine and it is messy down below the bottle. if you go off raod and tilt the truck downhill enough it will blow oil out of that line and it will really gum everything up. blocks up your radiator, intercooler and what ever the oil wants to get into. again welcome.
  15. i regards to your batteries in post #22. it sounds like at least one of them is shot. it is probably time to replace them. you need to replace both and not one. your are only as good as your worst battery. i might not replace them until i had my truck running. hey guys would weak batteries be causing some of the problems?
  16. will cv joints roar when they sart going bad? i have never had a vehicle with them before.
  17. if it makes you feel any better i owned my truck for 8 years before learning any of this stuff about our trucks. i like you love mine and hope drive it another 10 years. i have still got alot to learn. but we are at the right place to learn.
  18. your waste gate my be rusted up inside the exhaust housing. you can take it it a part and replace it or the actuator could be bad. either can be replaced seperately.
  19. i got the 1689 on mine when the vp was uplugged i thought i had the 1698 when my ecm went bad. we definately need and electronics guru for help here.
  20. i did not think of that one.
  21. ok i watched. the hoist must be good. your healthe insuranced must be paid up. we will never know about your reflexes. i am truly dissapinted that we did not see how well you bounce. by the way how is the shoulder?
  22. i am like you i dont think the rotor would sieze just from changing the lp. it is possible that it could have happened since your fuel pressure has been low. that would be s### for luck as you stated. the timing of it possibly failing might have coincidental. the problem you are having is identical to what i experianced except mine turned out to be electrical. if you did have that connection apart, buy some electronics cleaner, take it apart again, clean both the socket and connecter, reconnect and try again. when you connected your new fp to ground is it possible you disturbed another ground wire, there are alot of them on these trucks. dont just buy another vp. this could be very simple. i had plenty of fuel coming to my injectors. so much so i thought i had afuel leak. spent some time chasing that one until i saw it coming from #4. it was running off the back of the engine and i thought it was coming from the return line. it was bout that time i realized the vp was unplugged. Mike has a wiring diagram for the vp plug here. i am not good at electronics either so maybe someone can help with how to chase that part of it down. when it turn my swithc on the fp comes on for about 1/4 second and no more, but it does it every time. i think you got something loose or corroded and in need of cleaning. still a possibility the vp is bad. prior to installing the AD i have now i could not have told you wether mine was doing the little bump or not. i have driven the wifes dakota more than my 2500. that sucks. --- Update to the previous post... i have heard the same thing about 00 and 01's. i have had the 1693 code a couple aof times with no other code shown even after 2 pdones. have your codes read somewhere or buy a code reader. i need one my self. they will sometimes show a code that the key trick wont.
  23. did you disconnect the vp like i did when i nstalled thebig line kit and new fp gauge. the liift pump will push fuel out of the injectors with out the truck sarting. i had 1, 3, and 4 cracked. i dont know why but i had alot more fuel at 4 than 1 and 3. i spent 2 hours try ing to figure out why it would not start and it turned out that idid not plug the vp back in. check it and see. you might have even pulled it loose by accident. if its loose plug it in and be sure to slide th retainer in all the way.
  24. it would be under pressure when it is running. whenever i change my filter the cannister is always full of fuel, well almost full anyway. i always have to be carefull not to sling out. with the inlet and the oulet where they are i dont see how it could drain to any thing unless something is sucking up into the vp. my inlet is to high to let hardly anything back into the fuel line.
  25. is your engine trying to start at all or is it just turning over. i very seldom have to crack more than 2 injectors to get mine started. when it starts you can turn it off then tighten the injectors and crank it back up. you want spray as much fuel every where. it will run rough but smooth out quickly. if you have fuel to all of your injectors it should start right up.
