Where does this ground cable go?
So your saying I'm right about all of it? If not, explain! I want to learn

Where does this ground cable go?
Yeah I know, I was ashamed too. I thought it would be something simple, but when there is half a million bolts that all are the same and a million holes that may or may not have had screws, eh, yeah it got to be just see if it fits or even screws in. I am going to look in the chiltons thinger I left at apartment and see if it gives me any finer details. I'll take more pics next time. Interesting thing is I didn't have a single thing in excess or loss with the engine removal and installation I might tear it out again in august after college, taking careful note of everything. :banghead:Hmm dynamic timing... I was kinda wanting you to give me a constructive reply to that lol, just cause I took a somewhat defensive role didn't mean I wasn't willing to be schooled I can only reply based on what I know or have experience so I am always open to be ***proven*** wrong. But more info about anything I might already know is nice too, like flman's A/C stuff that I want to hear so much more about

Computer wont load fast
Tried all that. It just sits there when the xp loading bar starts going, after about 15 scrolls across, the HD will finally start doing something and then it will load, but kinda hang at a black screen before the welcome screen for 5 seconds, then get everything up and the clock and few drivers, a minute later it will kick in again and load the rest of the drivers. It does it like clockwork.

Where does this ground cable go?
Dang, this surely was not my best reinstallation. I havent put the center console back yet but I have at least 6 of those little black screws left, some bolts and nuts that I am pretty sure don't go to the center console, I even have a big plate left over Think it goes under the steering column somewhere. Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, taking it off seemed daunting but going back together you realize there really isn't that much to it. Then again I obviously skipped half the bolts lol. I'll just keep them on hand till I take it off again. Air still blows really good so at least that works. Switches between all the vents. Good enough

Charge A/C System AGAIN.....I think the compressor may be bad.
Like hell! Keep going! Never can learn enough about all this stuff.

Computer wont load fast
Getting tired of my questions yet? lolSo this xp computer won't get past the loading bar part, until the bar has gone past 25 times. I have disabled every single service and program to the point I have to reactivate windows, but it still took 25 times. The hard drive light doesn't do anything till the last 5 rounds. So do you know how to get the computer to kick the hard drive as hard as it can?

Finally took the ACT
I'm actually almost done with college so not sure why she even wanted me to take it. I didn't think it was that hard at all but more just tedious. Like one question has an answer that is just a hairline away from being another answer. The math wasn't even that hard but there was stuff I had just never seen. I didn't think reading or writing was hard at all, I just read so slow it's not even worth my time to try, most of the time had flew by before I even got one read so I was like uhhh yeah, this isn't gonna happen lol. I just thought it was really interesting how it was set up, seemingly easy yet tediously hard. As for your daughter, my sister did the same thing. This was her second time and she got one better. I think you just start to figure out the tedious things and are able to do better each time. What's really interesting is me and her got polar opposite scores. I got 92 in science, she got 38, that little subscore 9% i got in reading, she got a 92.

Temp Gauge...
I just figured out the indoor outdoor thing for now. Stuck it in air vent of house to see 48.3F air lol. No clue where to mount it. No clue what to measure with it Already have overhead temp thing. I was thinking in cab temp and in air vent temp. But was also thinking underhood temp, maybe next to air filter. I need ideas.

Temp Gauge...
Of course you never showed me it even had a backlight Can't believe it has an external chip and everything. Very high tech!

No clear winner, powerwise..
The power factor is another reason they are used, but not the same subject. I am talking about from a balance standpoint. The I6 is balanced by design, V8 is not, it needs things to balance it back out which add cost.
-
No clear winner, powerwise..
Hmmm, that's definitely something to factor in. I don't know how big of difference there is between them all. From what I have read, V8 diesels should actually have heavier things because they need them to counteract their imbalances, whereas I6 doesn't need them since they are the only perfectly primary and secondary balanced engine. I read that, that was one of the reasons for using I6 in all semi's, costs less when you don't have to produce all the counterweights. I will have to research it though.

New Ford 6.7 Liter Diesel
I can't find anything other than it's a Bosch. Beginning to think Bosch is a monopoly lol.

Where does this ground cable go?
Mike, your a lifesaver. Dobienut, theres always empty bolt holes from last times missing parts that you can use the spares for

Finally took the ACT
It's kind of weird how it's set up. Writing is basically just checking over a sentence and they give you options of how to reword it or you pick no change. Math is, well thats obvious lol.Reading I thought was the same as writing except you changed paragraph placing instead of wording and maybe answered a few of what it was about, but you had to know what it was about to know where to put the paragraphs. Science was actually just reading a graph, though it was big worded charts like formulas and a lot of stuff to throw you off, but one section was a biodiesel mix chart or something so I had no problem understanding that whole page lol.

Where does this ground cable go?
Came off the HVAC or maybe the ECM or who knows while taking the dash off. I thought it was something obvious and easy to remember but I can't remember or find a place for it to go for the life of me. Any ideas?

Finally took the ACT
I never took it in HS and never really wanted to take it but my sister is almost done with HS and she pretty well forced me into taking it the same time she did. I screwed up on the first 3 parts.English I started writing the answers in the book because I spent to much time going back and forth between book and answer sheet, so I would get a page done and then transfer all my answers, she called time when I was just about to transfer my last 10 answers :banghead: Math I got mad at a question and wanted to figure it out since it kinda pertained to my big spreadsheet on diesel engines, spent all my time on that one so I didn't even look at 10 questions, so they were blank too.Reading, why bother. I am such a slow reader there was no way I was going to even put a dent in it so I just filled in circles. Science, yeah I actually got that done :lol:So now you can all see how dumb I am Mom thinks I should take it again and not screw up again but it's 4 hours long and I actually took a relabeled "ACT" test at the end of april that they called the CAAP test which was exactly the same. Never got the results back for that one, probably threw it away so I wouldn't ruin the college's reputation lol.I think it would be fine to take it again and get done and see what I really know, but you all know how long it takes me just to air up a tire so unless they remove the time limit, I'm not gonna take it again.

BHAF - What about rain/water getting on paper?
Mike once said to me after showing him my black (stock media is white) filter: Color doesn't count... What counts is how much vacuum (water column) its creating... Mine is road dirt grey and still not creating any vacuum yet... I just check the old filter minder... Said that here, also has pics so you can see everything. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/showthread.php/1682-BHAF-32-Prefilter-is-45-Where-can-I-get-prefilter-cheap-please?highlight=BHAF

PAC Brake install
Just post pics of everything you need help with and we can walk you through it. I don't think it would be that hard and even though you might see it as a challenge now, I think it will be something you really like when it's all said and done. Not like you ever read "I put an exhaust brake on my truck and now I hate it".. That fact alone makes me think they are worth the investment.

Gomma bite the bullet I guess

Clutch or Transmission?
That is EXACTLY what mine did when my clutch was screwed up and wasn't disengaging fully. I don't know what it is about 2nd gear that makes it go in but that's the only gear mine would go in too. You might start out bleeding the master and slave because guesswho said that worked for him, if that doesn't work, you will have to bite the bullet and take the trans out to inspect what is going on with the clutch. I know Mike's spring pack completely broke out of the clutch. Nevertheless, the root of your problem lies in the clutch not disengaging fully, even when it's to the floor the pressure plate isn't getting enough tension released on it so the clutch spins keeping you from going into gear from a stop. The engine RPM is synchronized with the back end of the trans so that the RPM's are matched and the gears mesh nicely, when stopped, it is impossible for the synchros to match 1000rpm to 0rpm, which is why you have to turn the thing off to regain synchronous speeds.

No clear winner, powerwise..
I am a little bewildered now. When I said my 7.3 was luggable, I meant at very load speeds, like <10mph but, I just drove a 1999 7.3 with a mild chip and it pretty well threw my whole chart out the window. According to my chart, the 7.3 is supposed to be on top, but this thing was an absolute pile. To test things I always go up a hill and try and hold whatever speed it has at the base of the hill, if it is an auto (like this one was) I press down on the pedal until it is about to downshift. So I was doing 55 at the bottom of the hill, start going up the hill, I start going down until it is damn near to the floor and I know it is going to downshift any second. It was so gutless that I was down to 50mph before it finally was able to hold the speed. Now I know everyone praises these things for their reliability and I do need to do some more research as I believe they have too big of turbo to be trying to go up a hill at 1600-1700RPM. I didn't hear whistle at all and this thing was straight piped. I don't want to base boost numbers off what I can hear but damn, it was worthless. I really think it was the turbo's fault but it's just kind of hard to believe how crappy it was. It definitely had more power under 2000 than the 6.0, which has none, but it was just unreal. I found out a couple other variables to the chart I just have to work on getting them all into the equation. ---------- Post added 06-24-2010 at 12:47 PM ---------- Previous post was 06-23-2010 at 10:36 PM ---------- Got some more statistics going, thinking piston speed has something else to do with it. The HP at the end is theoretical with all the engines being equal pressure and everything, it is hardly a real world value but does have some significance. So the pistons moving faster does something but I have to think about it more.

BHAF - What about rain/water getting on paper?
My filter ends up soaked all the time, but mainly because I have a bad habit of hitting every pool of water I see. The ditch floods and goes across the road when it rains a lot and theres usually 40ft of at least 6" deep water that I always fly through and give my truck a power washing. I never thought about it much, didn't see why a wet filter would be a problem, engine will dry it out eventually. As I think about it however, a wet filter would expand in my mind, making the filtration pores bigger, therefore allowing in bigger particles. Not sure on that though, might expand but maybe it squeezes all the media together, making the pores smaller. In any case, keeping it dry would definitely be the best route. I do think it is hard to get wet if you drive it right (not flying through floods). I think the "cold air" kits do put a plate between the battery/filter and the engine/filter, which would seem to keep most of the water out, if not all, but like I said, it is hard to get it wet if your not trying to.

Need help with code!!!!
The ASD relay gives power to the VP44 from what I can tell. Maybe it is going out. Was thinking it has been so hot out that the chip on the VP might have finally gave out but then you said you got it running so not sure what to think. How is your fuel pressure and all that?According to Mike's pages, that code is P1689 (M)No Communication Between ECM and Injection Pump ModuleData link circuit failure between ECM and fuel injectionpump. Low power, engine derated, or engine stops.Might just be a loose connection somewhere, how did you get it to start?

Bad week
Was this yesterday? I deemed yesterday the worst day in a long time for a number of reasons. Guess it was universally bad. Things will get better though. Your really lucky that you can even work more hours, most employers around here hardly let you work 40 any more. Maybe your wife will find a higher paying job. Just try to make the best out of it and things will naturally fall into place. Maybe Tuesday holds higher yields!
