Silencer Ring or Not
Take it out, see if you like it, put it back in if you don't. My turbo whistle never gets old and I wish it were 10x louder.

A/C Evaporator & Heater core write up!
The red hose is really the high side? Even the haynes manual says its the low, and I remember the guy filling it up using the red hosed port, only. I need gauge proof now

Cummins ISB
Generally, the order of engines having the most HP is like this:MarineDodge TrucksHeavier Duty Trucks like 4500/5500 things like that/RV'sGeneratorsMaybe you notice a trend? Dodge trucks are actually en exception of the trend. The trend I am talking about is cooling, this is why you see it in the order it is. Marine can cool the most, moving vehicles next, then stationary stuff. The thing about dodge is that it has smaller cooling capability than say Flman's truck, yet they are consistently rated for more in most cases, though some trucks do actually have the same power as the heavier duty trucks. I think they do this because semi trucks are supposed to last a million miles. If your semi went 250k and blew up, I think you'd be done with that brand. Dodge trucks on the other hand, the majority of us are done with them after 250k anyways, I mean look at the mileage chart, only a few have more than that. So dodge said the heck with longevity, we will up the power a bit more to keep up with duramax. But, because it's a cummins, it is inherently long lived. So my point is, don't worry what that engine appears to have or whatnot, unless it is a marine engine, it is not going to be more powerful than whats in your truck now.Just as a reference, I saw a brand new 6.7 generator with a nameplate rating of 160HP..

A/C Evaporator & Heater core write up!
It's the port right behind the passenger headlight that comes up and is almost flush with the top crossover beam. It has a big black cap and you can't miss it. It hardly takes any time at all. Maybe 2 minutes to get it back to regular pressure from having no pressure at all. Your A/C compressor MUST be on while you are filling it, if it is not on, it is detection too low of pressure so there is a connector going to the top of the accumulator (air tank looking thing) that you jumper the 2 contacts on to get the compressor to engage.

Alert! Mopar1973Man working with flooding...
So that's what you been doing. I didn't know you have had a bunch of rain too. We have had almost constant rain for a month. Might get a few days off here and there. Don't go driving through too much water There's plenty of ford's out there to test out how deep it is first

Injectors
Well that's the safe temp, must be easier for 24V to hit than my 12. I can't seem to get it under 350 no matter what I do. Maybe if I idle for 10 min. I run synthetic so I just let it drop under 400 then shut it down. But if you can hit 300 that fast, definitely wait for it. The cooler everything is on shutdown, the less everything will superheat when you turn it off. For those who might not understand why you wait to shut it down, the oil is constantly moving through the turbo and everything, it probably never gets much over 200F. When you turn the engine off however, the oil sits in the turbo bearings, not moving, absorbing all the heat from that turbo. If you shut it off when the engine is too hot, the oil becomes too hot and forms coking or residue on everything. This is why you shut it down at the lowest possible temp to prevent the oil from getting too hot. 300F is the usual recommended shut down temp.

Injectors
You basically want to wait until the EGT's are down to around 350F before you shut down. If you drive it real easy the last 1/4 mile before you stop, it will drop down to that temp in no time. Pulling a trailer you might find that you have stopped and its up at 450 and slowly cooling down, that is when you want to give it a bit to cool off.

Helpful Spreadsheets
I figured I would make a sticky for these. They serve me well many times over so I want to make sure you guys can always get to them to help you out. I will be adding more and more to them all the time as I think of things to add. The Excel file will convert over to anything else, and I have now made it work on any free program, let me know if it doesn't and I will reformulate it to keep it universal. I haven't decided whether or not to just add pages to one document and you guys just replace the new thing with your old one, or just keep adding new ones. Adding pages to one file that you guys can keep replacing and therefore "updating" it seems the most logical. Will also keep new people from having to download 10 files. I am just going to update this #1 post over and over so you won't have to dig through this thread if it ends up getting long. If you have any requests or ideas, PM me them or post on the thread. This current file contains sheets for: Power Calculations (Volts/Amps/Ohms/Watts) kWh Costs (How much it will cost you to run something) Conversions (Temp/Speed/Pressure/etc.) Bolt Torque (Bolt Tightening Torques, where not provided by OEM) MPH-RPM Calc (Figuring speed based on gear ratios) Area and Geometry (Right triangle and circle stuff) Engine Calculations (Bore x Stroke and some other neat things) Mileage Statistics (More details than just MPG) If you find any errors, let me know. For those wanting to change some things, password on all of the sheets is "dodge". This file will work with Excel and OpenOffice. If you are using Google Docs, use the GOOGLE file. Note: Google Doc users will experience #DIV/0! errors due to it's limited capabilities (meaning I can't make it hide the errors). The spreadsheet will work the same but when things are blank, it will give the error, this is all how it is supposed to work and there are codes to make it blank instead of showing the error code but the IFERROR code does not work in google docs and I don't know what does so you will have to ignore the codes. I wonder why yours are so oily and have all that carbon build up. I'd like to find out. Mine looked like this upon removal.

loss of power...cant find it!
It is not that hard to hold back 8psi, and the fact that it can't just means at 40-50+psi it would be leaking like crazy. I am sure that is where all of your problems lie.

Isn't there an emoticon limit per post? I didn't want you going on wondering why I am always on lol. I actually am at college 8 hours a day but I get on through every tiny break so that it "seems" like I am always on haha. Flman, heres the full blown working completed version with working colors and all. Bolts.xls

I have a meter for amps and so I can get volts and amps easily just taking the breaker panel off and clamping it over each wire and making sure everything but the thing I want, is off. Then I can see how much it uses in all those different times. I thought it was really neat. I have had the amp/volt/./. thing done for a while but I figure I would throw that in for you guys too. I might make a sticky in this section and start throwing all my things in it and you guys can use what you want. I have many things I have made that you guys might find as useful as I. I have them sprawled out across this thing and other computers at home so I will have to round them all up.

Where did that come from? :lol:Lets see here. I saved a lot working after school (HS) and worked all summer and saved up a lot, lived off that for a while, reverted back to parents for a while, reverted back to weekend jobs I get that pay a lot. I learned to save every penny and make the most out of all of it. College is paid for through that A+ thing and my apartment here is $325 a month. Internet is free, water is free (yes Mike, I have had ideas with your pelton wheel lmao), and my electric bill is $15 since the only thing ever on is my laptop and the fridge. I haven't watched tv in months. I drive so slow to and from home every weekend that that doesn't add up to much either. Who said I wasn't on those sites dorkweed? It's not that hard to refresh this thing and look at other websites at the same time. I have internet multitasking down to an art. So your saying you don't have any spreadsheets you need me to make? :ahhh:Here's my latest creation so far, needs metric but I'll get it all on there eventually. This one works with free ones fine since there aren't any fancy formulas. Well I guess it ruined my colors but I'll get it all fixed. Ok look at my later post for the "done" version.

Sometimes a loaner isn't always a treat!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hill-holder That should help you. I wasn't sure what it was either

Sometimes a loaner isn't always a treat!
But look how much knowledge you gained!! :smart:Kinda like me taking the whole engine out to heli-coil fuel plate cover and change the oil pan gasket :lmao:But throughout all of your post, I am seeing something that could help you. Never assume things! Seems every time I do, it is always the thing I assumed was fine. Same with parts, look in the box at the store, that old part thing from someone else is so common it's almost ridiculous. At least it's all back together and working now. It's nice having something like that to do, though it can be frustrating, still better than sitting around all day

Ah, good. Let me know if you need anything else.

Your going to have to explain a little more. I am thinking when you type in 5,000 miles, you want the oil change thing to turn red and jump to the top of maintenance list? Yeah email it, describe more or what you want too.
-
Kinda neat
That easy to do that? :lol:I added the openoffice one to the list on the first post so now everyone should be able to use it. Still wanting to do more but I need ideas from you guys. I don't care how hard or easy, I think it's so fun but I can only think of so many formulas. I don't even care if just one person wants something, pm me and I'll do it for ya
-
Kinda neat
Excel and openoffice use different formulas for certain things, mainly the IF things. So I had to change it up to make it work for the people with anything but excel. I save things in xls since some people don't have the latest excel version, which uses xlsx. I believe I sent you one of them one time and you told me all you saw was code so that's why I started all xls saving. ODS is openoffice's "xls".

You need to get the "ods" type file acceptable on here Mike

front pads
I remember they asked me about that too. The sticker on the door says 8800, I wouldn't settle for anything less. You'll probably be fine, might wear out faster, have a little less stopping power when towing.

Kinda neat
Well that half of it was really easy, I spent a week on the other part, going to forums and stuff trying to figure out just how to get it to use any 2 variables you put in. You could do them all separately but I thought that would be such a mess that I wanted to figure out how to make it all work with just one part. I'm working on making a spreadsheet showing cylinder pressures and temp at TDC compression stroke based on intake air and boost. Too much physics involved but I'm getting closer

Turbo
Those are HX40's. They have 21cm exhaust housings and I think a T4 manifold flange, 5.9 uses T3. You can use the compressor part of it and get some benefit.

Kinda neat
I been working on a bunch of formulas in excel and I finally got it to where you can find amps/ohms/watts/volts if you have any 2 of the 4 variables. That's sheet #1, sheet #2 is just plain fun because you can figure out exactly how much something uses and costs you over a period of time based on any 2 variables. I had some issues with those with openoffice or google apps so I will post 2 variants. On the bottom left of the spreadsheets is the page selector for those who didn't know, so you can switch between the 2 there. If you guys have anything you want a spreadsheet for just let me know. I can find calculations for basically anything and love working with excel. Editable regions are red, you can't edit it if it's not red anyways. Red the little exerts on each page and thats all you need to know to run it. If you want to edit anything that isn't red, password for it is "dodge". Well dang the openoffice file won't upload since it's not recognized. The excel one works in openoffice and google apps but the ohms/amps/volts/watts page doesn't, other one does. If you want the one that works for formats other than excel, pm me. Electricity Calculations.xls Electricity Calculations 3.ods

EGT's
I would have to 2nd that. There is a reason the water is there, its the lowest point so it all collects there. You should have turned around for a mile and seen if it went back to 700.
