I don't use anything. I take it out of the box and stick it on. I'll stick the air compressor on it and see if anything changes.

New oil burner
Back the 3 point up to the trees you dont want and wrap a strap around it and the 3 point and that will take care of any unwanted trees "roots and all" I like using the front end loader, but it seems the trees I try to uproot just pull the whole tractor over, they might give at that point Don't have too much fun with it! Gotta save some for tomorrow..

Auto Trans - Band Adjustment
Ahh, now I see what you mean with it all. The stock TC's are crap. I think once you get a chip they just start getting even worse. But yeah, I get what you mean now. If you haven't driven around in one and know how they are supposed to feel then it would be hard to know if it's supposed to be like that Hmm, let me see how much I get done tomorrow and Saturday and maybe I can run down Sunday and we can take a look at it.

Auto Trans - Band Adjustment
Sorry, I don't click on auto trans threads very often I was in St Louis last weekend though Got bored Sunday after dirt bike races were over and decided to peter on home. I never messed with auto's much, I paid a lot of attention to my Ford's though and even put in a lockup switch. As for what to do when it slips, your guess is as good as mine. My ford's slips like crazy because the torque convertor is a piece of crap, seemed to be even worse after the trans went out and was rebuilt :banghead: I think if your trans is stock and your running a chip, your trans is going to die sooner or later either way, probably just need to be nice to it until you can get enough money to have it rebuilt/built up to handle the chip. I have no idea about band adjustment or any of that stuff, I just locked the TC on my ford all the time so I wouldn't have to put up with the slippage. Let me know if you need help taking it out if that's what you decide to do.

BHAF $32 Prefilter is $45???????? Where can I get prefilter cheap please????
I went out and looked at mine a little closer, and it's already caked with dust. I think this one has only been on it 6 months. Heres some better pics. Mike, yours is a lot cleaner than mine, not sure why, maybe missouri pavement is dirtier than Idaho gravel

BHAF $32 Prefilter is $45???????? Where can I get prefilter cheap please????
They work and keep things clean but it seems like they just get clogged up really fast. Which that might be a sign that they work but mine looks like that after a month and not being able to clean it makes changing them after only a month ridiculous. I need to get one with the prefilter and something I can blow the dust out of when it gets dirty. I really don't care if I have to oil something or what, I just don't want to have to change the filter so often. My turbo lights much quicker when I change it, so much so that I won't be paying attention to how fast the turbo is lighting and will push the pedal the usual amount and have to let off because it lit so quick.. That's how I know it is getting clogged up really fast. The filter minder is a piece of crap in my opinion. You can suck filter minders down if your truck is turned up far enough, and if I never get above 10psi boost, the filter minder might never get sucked down until the filter is completely caked. If you regularly hit 30psi, then eventually your minder will get sucked down when the filter is dirty enough, but running low boost will allow the filter so much leniency, that it will be completely clogged by the time the minder goes down, and if color doesn't matter, how would you ever tell between a clogged filter and one that's not.. Be neat to get a tedious vacuum gauge and see how much my filter compares with a new filter.

How much can I tow?
Technically, the limit is around 15k if you look at truck specs. Obviously people go over this all the time. Your truck will go up to 26,000lbs fine but you should drive slow. I wouldn't go over 60mph if I had over 15k. You can license the truck for whatever you want but the DOT can get really picky and chew you out for being over the trucks towing limit. As long as the actual tongue weight doesn't exceed the trucks payload, it will be fine. I see people all the time with 4 cars on their cummins.

I think mine is pretty crappy since I can put a new filter on after that month and notice night and day turbo whistle

What exact filter do you guys use that last so long? My brother gets the pieces of crap in the pic for free but they are black like that after a month.. Compare mine with this brand new one..

Clutch not disengaging..
I'm thinking it is definitely the master/slave. It has been getting worse for several months, I always figured it was just synchros being crap but now that I think about it, it was barely engaging the clutch, enough to not go into gear very easily, now it grabs enough that it won't go into gear. So I think the master/slave has been degrading all this time and is now so mad that it does what it's doing now. I don't have the popping noise when it engages or anything. I'm going to bleed it this weekend and see if that changes anything at all. It's full of fluid, always has been, but who knows.

Best Towing RPM?
Ahh, now I get ya. I experimented with a series 60 detroit turbo so that basically maximizes the "RPM to spool it" condition, only I couldn't get over 15psi floored
-
Best Towing RPM?
Ah, I take it that has to do with the timing being advanced? I know they all said advancing the timing shifts the power upwards but I never noticed it, just that it was snappier and seemed to have more power everywhere.
-
Best Towing RPM?
The engine does have a lot to do with it, how it is tuned, how it is modded. I am just looking for what you guys would tow at with your current truck, modded or not, on relatively flat ground with a few hills, just the average. I know everyone has a point where they feel the truck is perfect. I run it right under 2000 because I can build all the boost I need if I do happen to get to a hill, and yes HP is the determining factor there, which is also why I run it there instead of, like 1600. I am not 100% on what rpm is the absolute best so thats why I like hearing your alls opinions and looking at the consensus average. I know nobody has the same truck so what is good on mine might not work for others, but everyone has a reason for wanting to keep it over or under a certain rpm and that's what I am aiming at hearing, though just seeing the votes sways me also. You guys got some good points so far
-
Best Towing RPM?
Yeah that's why I gave the example weight There are some loads I get thankful I have small tires since it effectively makes it seem like I have 4:10's. Well not really but close enough.
-
Best Towing RPM?
So lets say its a 5k lb TT. What is your guys opinion as the best rpm to pull it at? Ignore speed since I know some of you guys do 70 at 1800 and others (me) do it at 2100. I just want to know what you guys think the best rpm is. I'm gonna say 1900-2000 since it is up where the turbo is spooling perfect but it's not high enough to be wasting fuel.

Need to Remove Radiator to Reseal Front Cover
All you have to do is take the 2 top bolts off that have the grommets around them, they don't have a nut they are just threaded into the crossover thing. The bottom of the radiator has tabs that it drops into so you just pull it straight up. You will have to take the fan off or just take the fan shroud off. Take the radiator hoses off and you should be good to go. Not really any other way to do it and you can't really get much easier than that

Another conrteversial post
Yes that kind of flow might work. Your not taking as many as I thought. Mom has 12GB :lmao:That lawnmower on the car one is almost too common to be called redneck lol. I know lots of people who strap I-beams to the bottom of their car. I know one guy who is so dedicated to hauling 20ft piece of angle that he has these hooks that are welded to mounts that go in the top of the bedside and he has some HD mirrors so he sets the metal on the side of his truck along the hooks and mirror. Pretty neat. Till his mirror breaks off I guess

Sometimes I wonder if you have a picture of you unlocking your front door.. Is there anything you haven't taken a pic of?

Hmmmmmmmm, you build me that houseboat and I'll allow it Eh, maybe the outboard lawnchair. I have gone from top to bottom 5 times now trying to figure out what is the neatest.

Clutch not disengaging..
Is there a way to test that master/slave? Today it got to the point of driving with the clutch to the floor.. I am thinking it isn't a bearing anymore and might just be the clutch hydraulics. But it's weird because I was at a stoplight today, and it has been screwing up constantly so I just hold the brakes and let it do it's whining, well light turns green and I let off clutch, but it only goes halfway before I feel almost all tension relieve, I keep letting off and eventually the pedal regains tension in an instant, like it popped back to life and I let it out the rest of the way. I don't want to buy the wrong thing now or take the trans out if I don't have to, but it's pretty undriveable now, from a stop anyways, I can sync it just fine from there, but it grabs and lets go a lot so it jerks the hell out of the truck while I'm sitting at a stop light, banging the gears, I leave it in neutral most of the time but if the clutch is gripping good enough I can't get it in gear so I have to turn the truck off.. so what do you guys think it is now? I am constantly feeling the tension of the clutch changing. So back to original master/slave idea. But there must be a way to test it?

overdrive problem
I had something like that happen when I welded my downpipe. I put the ground on the exhaust manifold and I guess I bumped it and it hit the steel braiding on the turbo oil line and since that was then the more direct line of current, it arced and burnt a hole in the line. Little did I know... So I start it up and watch this jet stream of oil shooting out the line Good thing my hood was open so I could see it and turn it off that instant. Your hoses might just be so old that they crack if you breath on them lol

Obama bumper stickers worth having
lol, well even at that, there are some people who probably think he is doing a good job. I cannot say either way, but you are now doing the pros/cons thing of him, that is the kind of political talk that is constructive, keep it that way When I see all this obama hate talk, I never know why, you guys never really give any reasons and since I don't care to watch the news, I always am lost as to what obama has done that is so bad. Give reasons, elaborate on why you think that way.. I am more than willing to watch a thread that gives details rather than just debate a "bad" president, I might see something as good that you might see as bad, but it would be nice to get some constructive details going, rather than just assume he is bad because you said so..

Obama bumper stickers worth having
If the opposing side does jump in, we will have a war going on in here.. I think everyone here knows about the ordeal of the presidency and have already been "warned". This forum is meant to help people, and although you see it as you are helping, you could also be making people feel like idiots. This is not the place to be talking about politics, look at all the other political threads, they never end well. I am not trying to limit everyone to what they can talk about but there has to be other things than politics. Everyone knows it is a hot topic that can get out of hand, that's why it shouldn't be here. Be one thing if it was something about pros and cons of the president, it's another having a thread showing bumper stickers saying obama is an idiot.. I leave these threads up to set an example.
