  1. Supposedly cleans up emissions along with getting better mileage. I think it's a load of crap. It also reduces lube, so you will trash your fuel system. Use 2 stroke instead.
  2. I took the thermostat out one time and mine did the same thing. Went 7 miles and just barely moved the gauge, it was still under 140 in 80F weather. I doubt your thermostat is stuck open though. How fast are you driving? I just went to town and back at 30-40mph (snow) and I just barely made it to 190 after 20 miles. Once the engine is warmed up, they don't seem to have much problem keeping warm as long you don't run the heater on full blast. I was on the interstate once and I don't have a fan on the engine and I pulled over for a bit waiting on someone and I didn't have the heater on to dissipate any heat. Just idling it was building heat (it hit 210F eventually), and it was only 10F out. Maintaining heat and getting it hot are 2 different things. I can pull a trailer and get it hot in a few miles or I can drive like I did today and the engine just doesn't work hard enough to get hot, plus having the heater on full blast takes heat away from the engine also. Let us know how you drive for those miles to work, it could be a big factor.
  3. Everyone does this. Supposed to let it get down to at least 300F. I know they got it on the Edge Juice. Probably separate turbo timers out there. You can speed up the process by letting it roll or idle or driving slow before you stop. Like I have a bit of driveway to drive up at 10mph and that will have the EGT's down by the time I get to the house.
  4. Took this pic today. That's the station I normally go to, I passed one that was 7 cent's cheaper. I have yet to fill up above $3/gal, still got 1/2 tank
  5. This is the most info I have ever found on it. http://www.stamey.info/Truck/Cummins53BlockFAQ.htm
  6. Yeah there is nothing that says do this and this to put it in 4LO, well there is but even that grinds half the time so its always just a live and learn thing, everyone else with a 4wd went through the same stuff their first time.. But yeah 2-4hi is synchronized and everything, go in and out whenever you want as long as the engine isn't putting power to it (so let off the pedal for a second). 4 LO is interesting and yeah I just turn the truck off to remove all doubt.
  7. 100% right. I put my ford in and out of 2-4hi at 60mph. 4 Lo is a different story.. Make sure you follow what he said about: just let off the throttle for a split second so the driveline isn't loaded and pull it in, you don't exactly want to have it floored when you pull it in
  8. It's right next to the drivers side headlight. You will see it easily by just popping the hood.
  9. That is a top notch businessman! You'd think other companies would learn from that since he now gets your business and all of your friends'. You might even post his info on here in case one of us ends up wherever he is.
  10. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=128 That pdf contains all the wiring for the 2002.
  11. Wasn't the other battery hooked up correctly? I'm trying to figure out what it didn't give you a big spark when you touched it. You would have had to hook them both up wrong. As far as what burnt up, I am not sure. Does the truck even run? Sounds like it doesn't. Might have fried the ECM/PCM

Yeah I didn't see that coming No wonder you said he takes up the whole bed.
  13. I got better things to spend money on for now. He did say I get 3 runs though, not sure what I should change for each run. I can easily purge the fuel out and have it suck through a jar of 2 stroke at 128:1 to see if it really does add any power. Not sure what else I could do. Long time to think about it though. They make you feel good inside, which is what really counts
  14. I actually just want a digital RPM gauge.. I wonder if I could make my digital EGT do that. Supposedly it can be programmed to do anything, but then I have no EGT gauge.. Maybe there is some cheap digital display that will read it somewhere.
  15. Your 4wd so I imagine your tires are 265/75. At 70mph with 4.10's you will be at 2286RPM. At 70 with 3.54's you will be at 1973RPM. That's the easiest way to tell.
  16. My brother gets the diesel power mag here every month and I haven't read it in at least a year (seems like CF people write it), but today I opened it up and found something worthy. They took a stock 95' 12V and dynoed it every time they touched something and it is pretty amazing. It was an auto trans truck. It had 277,000 miles on it. Stock it is rated at 160HP/400TQ. Here is how their dynos turned out with nothing but free mods.

I've already been researching how to do it
  18. I think with a reader I can get feedback on my laptop but I don't know exactly how it would work. I would think I could see the exact numbers for all of my guages along with IAT info. I am not sure though. The 1997+ all had OBDII on them I just don't know what I can monitor, anyone got an idea? I was thinking of getting this http://www.laplogger.com/products.shtml?fily=wired_usb
  19. Might have potential. Doesn't have anything bad in it. I don't know anything about calcium stuff but if it is all it is cracked up to be then it might be some good stuff. I can't believe how many dealers there are for it.
