Brake Caliper
Yeh I think I could only get about 30k out of a good set of NAPA pads not even close to 180k. But as for the brake fluid what a brake tech told me is that the calipers are at the lowest point on the brake system and all the contaminates go to the lowest point he said that when you do a brake job clamp the brake hose and crack the bleeder and then push the piston back in. But also alot of the brake problems I see (sorry I manage a NAPA, so I see alot of problems) are slide pins sticking so make sure the caliper moves freely on the bracket you can lube it up but the tech said lube it with like syl-glide and wipe it back off so you dont need that much lube good luck:thumb1:

Bad valve seat
he said one of the valves nicked the piston but it did'nt look that bad so I don't think it harmed it

Bad valve seat
Hey guys I have a buddy that has a 04CR and has a cracked valve seat he was wondering if any othe head would work because he herd that these years had a problem or if there are any other options availiable? Thanks!

what is in this fuel?
Hey guys I live in Minnesota and I manage a NAPA all I can say is we sell alot of fuel filters it is common practice and something we have to live with. The other thing is to run a good additive like FPPF it removes water, lubes, stabalizes, and cleans the whole fuel system I run a Fass and have seen -30+ this winter and (knock on wood) no problems:thumb1:

Back door problem?
twice I have had to take the middle handle out and re crimp the clips that hold the rods and it stays good for a couple years and the last time the reason it came loose was because something got cought and I tryed to force it:doh:
-
Fuel Tank Heater
How cold does it get and do you run any additive?
-
Fuel Tank Heater
Yeh I think your problem is in the fuel I have seen very cold weather like -30 and no problems I talked to a tech at FPPF and they said what causes alot of problems is water in the fuel it just keeps building up at the bottom of the tank untile there is enough that you have a problem, so get some treatment that removes water and make sure you don't have any bio when it gets cold and hopefully no problems, good luck:thumb1:

front axle nut
Yeh that nut is on tight but trying to get the bearing out sucks more. What a tech told me is to take out the bolts holding the bearing on and then get some new longer ones and get a air hammer and drive the bearing out that way when I did it I used a brass hammer on the stock bolts and got it out but it sucked:cry:

Fuel Pressure Gauges

Lesson Learned!!!
If you find someone with a midtronics or similar tester that will tell you state of health some auto parts stores or good garages have them it will tell you what % health your battery is
-
Lesson Learned!!!
Hey guys I manage a NAPA and my battery rep says that you can store a battery on cement you should not have a problem with that, but yes if you don't use the battery for extended periods put a trickle charger on it or them many people don't know but your alternator will not fully charge a dead or low battery!! Yes also to replace both batterys but I have 2 agm batterys in my truck bought about 1 year apart (didn't have to buy both at the same time) and I did a health test on them and the 1 is a 05 had 90% health and the 06 had 98% and these babys get abused with cold temps alot. The other thing I have found is that 1 good battery is better than 1 good and 1 bad so if you have 1 bad just remove it until you can replace it. Good luck:thumb1:

Back door problem?
there is acually two rods that look like they have threads on each end 1 goes up 1 goes down if you take off the middle handle and you can adjust the rods so the door will open easyer but be careful the bottom rod can fall into the door and you need a long needle nose to get it out!!
-
Engine Cleanup
I like to use Purple Power you can find it at most auto parts stores and is very cheap. The first time I used it I found parts on the truck I din't know were black:2cents:
-
Back door problem?
What I have done is take some brake clean or simillar to clean the latches top and bottom and then take a good lube that won't dry out like a silicone spray then work it in good!!

Seafoam in a Common Rail
now I thought the key was to run a additive to emulsifie the water not seperate it to run it through the system in small amounts, I run FPPF bio winter treat and they bragg about getting rid of the water. Knock on wood never had a problem and my fass is hanging out in the open and yes it gets pretty cold up here -20 this morning. Also I talked to a fuel guy today and asked him what exactly #1 is, he said it is refined more to get the wax and other stuff out so it don't gell but takes away lubricity also #1 has no bio even in our great state that mandates it.

Favorite Auto Parts Store
Yeh but it has a special oring metric thread, I now a buddy that ramed a pipe thread adapter with a bunch of goo and put a mechanical gauge in his truck the only problem is the truck will ding and check gauges light will stay on but yes they are crazy on the price. P.S. my truck reads 80psi even when the truck is not running so yes I need to drop the dough also:doh:

Favorite Auto Parts Store
Hey just did a quick check on the parts you asked for at our store the #Ech OP6725 $188.79 #NR2464 $259.23 and for the 05 Hyundai rad I looked up a Spectra #2844 $137.17 just thougt you would like to know love the input!! --- Update to the previous post... Yeh thats what I like to say NAPA is the largest auto parts store in the USA and many of us are on the road alot if you are on the road out of town are you going to find a Rock Auto if in need, the other thing NAPA prides itself on quality parts! now I know they still have problems but I can assure you most of the time if one company is alot cheaper no matter if the warranty is the same it is not the same quality. And yes I know if it has a lifetime warranty who cares but do you want to replace a starter, alt or track bar every 6 months! Anyway thanks guys for the input love to hear outside my NAPA bubble:thumb1:
