I am also looking at the cat heaters as a backup to the furnace in my camper. I am thinking for potential furnace problems while I am out in the unit and want to avoid emergency field repair. I like the PlatCat heater because it seems to be the only one that is vented outside the heated space so it avoids the possibility of exhaust gas (carbon monoxide) in the living space. It uses very little battery power and is very efficient with the fuel. Heat output doesn't match the capability of the camper furnace but the BTU output of the smaller unit would keep my camper warm enough to live in (it just doesn't blast out the heat like a forced air furnace. I have a good insulation and double pane windows so that helps minimize the BTU input requirement. The heat is more line of sight heat and I just have to figure out how I can mount it to provide the best overall heat felt within the camper. I am sold on the PlatCat.

100 watt bumper mounted driving lights
X2. The LED technology is great. I use them as landing and taxi lights and as navigation lights also. Very bright and very lower power and very long life. Here is another source where the lumens are even higher and the price is cheaper yet. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151007503879?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Spring time mods/maintenance for your truck...
Sounds like you are really going to town on your project. :drool:I did the shocks on mine when I bought it and the rear ones were pretty easy. The front ones took about twice the time as the rears and you had to be a bit of a contortionist.

Spring time mods/maintenance for your truck...
Yes, that exactly what I thought. Sorry for the wrong info. The manual trans doesn't have the temp readout through the OBDII port.

you can use your extra temp probe for the rear end or other. The trans temp is already provided to the OBDII port so you won't need to commit the extra temp probe you bought to the tranny.

"built" 47RE woes
Are you saying that all the troubles you have been having with the tranny and poor mpg are because your truck has the wrong PCM in it?? So if that is changed to the right one then you have a new truck?? This could be Christmas in March.

Need to put the EB dilemma to rest!
There are various SFI ratings. I am guessing they mean something specific regarding the flex plate strength or torque handling ability but I don't really know what???I have seen 29.1 and 29.3 and there may be others. How do you choose the right one when you want to add the EB and/or beef up the tranny?

2013 Ford diesel accidentally put gas instead of diesel......

Might have stacked tuners!!! Please help!!
I have seen that done before on large stationary diesels. Worked very well. I don't know why you couldn't do it on the truck. You have to have the valves closed on each cylinder you are working on.

Wowww
That music has a nice beat but I love the smell of nitromethane in the morning!

Maybe a new one...
Wow! :duh:Glad I don't have your truck. Those MPGs would be tough to take.I'll re-adjust my thinking. You just might get better MPGs with the gen 3 truck when compared to your current truck.
-
Maybe a new one...
I am sure there are lots of miles left in that truck.MPG will likely be less than your current truck but it looks good from the picture and probably will ride nicer than your current truck.

On-board air
I saw this video 3 days ago when I was doing some research on OBA systems. I also saw some other install solutions over at the RV.net site as well. http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/25966285.cfm I am still thinking of finding a solution where I can mount something outside the truck rather than trying to carry something in the truck.

Awesome OTR rigs
Or cow catchers like the trains. When they can't stop in time they can use them to push everyone out of the way.

Terrible luck with Raptor.
Me to. If I was in the market for a new transfer pump I would be worrying about the recent feedback I have been seeing on the Raptors.Good thing I am not looking, but if I was I would be in a bit of a quandry right now.

On-board air

On-board air
DW, yes that could be an option. I read an article somewhere in years past (when I wasn't looking for on-board air) that talked about converting an old AC compressor into and air pump. I will have to look around and see if I can find it again.I don't remember what the air volume and pressure capability would be for that kind of compressor but the power to make it run would probably less work than wiring in an electrical one. But I would probably have to custom make some sort of mounting bracket and then find a drive belt etc.I'll do a little research and see what I can find.I am hoping I can find some practical knowledge out there.
