  1. Hurry up Nick, the Eclipse camp is getting close.
  2. At 5 psi your damaging the injection pump. At least 2,000 dollar replacement right there ,or living on borrowed time anyways. You might even be starving the injection pump and that right there is power loss or rpm limit whatever you want to call it. You at least need the Vulcan big line kit so you can trash those banjo bolts. Vulcan performance is a good place to deal with. I have dealt with Eric since06 or 07 and he will tell you the same thing, but his prices are the best I just bought an 01 automatic. I ripped out the entire fuel system including the draw straw, put in the big line kit Raptor 150 lift pump with a prefilter, canned the intank pump and screens and the truck is above 14 p.si hauling up hills, I can get on it and stays above 16psi. BTW when I got inside the tank the screens were 50%clogged. Now the miles have been getting better and better for two weeks now
  3. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? Anything to indicate fuel flow. I know restricted fuel flow equals restricted power. I would never consider an in the tank lift pump. What a problem if it goes out or clogs due to all its screens in there you can't get to anything. Even when clear of clogs/ working properly it doesn't have enough flow to keep the injection pump cool esp. hauling heavy uphills you need to stay above 14 psi. You need to upgrade the fuel system and get rid of all banjo bolts if you haven't done that yet
  4. It's pretty cool your doing this. I've found anytime I get involved with a lengthy project the outcome is far better than factory and something to be proud of. Usually people ask about it so it good conversation piece. Others might say' it ain't worth it ' and go trade in, but I've found the hand made aspect is so far better..
  5. This is good information and is the same I've experienced with three different Cummins engines, two that I now own and one I owned in the past. Thanks Dripley as long as your name doesn't come from having leaky radiator it's cool. lol Tyler, TFaoro, I do the same thing with a piece of screen on mine. I can shake all them bugs right off the screen. Need it on my 01 thanks for the reminder to do thiat
  6. That's too bad about a final appraisal. When you watch the fancy car auctions and you see the high prices offered it's because not only the car collectors know the rarity, they also know the amount of time and expense to build something like that. Many times a restoration can go wrong when a shops service crew does less than average work and has to be done again. It happened to me in the past, but fortunately the shop had the resources and agreed redo the work and was done well. Later I heard the employee responsible for the first work was fired after several warnings. Keep up the good work, it's an amazing project.
  7. This project still amazes me. How do you find insurance that will fully cover such super custom work? When all said and done it won't be the price of a ordinary truck that's for sure.
  8. You have a nice looking truck Treed. I always said these second gens are the best looking and might end up being classics. IBMOBILE and me understand the need to get away, drop what we're doing and get up in the mountains every so often. It's important no matter which stage life has placed you on. We are both making the run to the Eclipse meet and hope others will show too.
  9. Nice! Thank you for the pics.
  10. I know your right. I remember when young nothing stopped me from getting things done and the work is just as fun as the completion.
  11. Thanks IBM for spilling the beans, but the stuff strengthen. Like my cracked escape hatch cover on the rv was cracking. I had it LineXed a long time ago and it held up for a long time till I built and aluminum hatch cover.
  12. Man! SilverMoose you know your stuff. Sounds like a lot of work which at my age I start thinking of alternatives Like having the inside and outside coated with LineX bedliner to make the cracks strong and then paint with a matching Latex exterior paint. At least it would be easy touch up in the future and LineX texture hides a lot. But then again any of my advice is just outside the box thinking.
  13. You are a diligent hard working truck owner. That's what I think. If it where mine I would look into laminating a sheet of aluminum diamond plate to the top with rounding the corners. I would pick a gauge that easily forms to the slight round top. Doing the top only and glue the bejeebies out of it with Titebond and let the rack bolt the corners down. Probly a bad idea from me, but would look into it anyhow.
  14. Actually the price was a deal is the only reason I bought two cases. When home I realized it was synthetic.
  15. The slides, even when new tend to be cold around the edges. Some of my buds tell me mostly at the bottom so they lay towels rolled up there. I like backer rod since it comes different sizes and easily stuffs in cracks and openings. Leave a small grab tail sticking out and you can pull it back out before closing the slide.
  16. I still have fuel fluctuation a little. Not like before, so I think I still need to bleed air out the top of the pre filter. Gets trapped up in there. Racor provides a bleed off for that. Any thoughts on synthetic 2 stroke oil?
  17. Congrats on that. Sounds like you made a good choice, but watch those slides they tend to leak a little bit of cold air in winter. I think foam backer rod will help you for long term parking to stop the cold. Also get to know those slides and the correct strip gear adjustments. Keep them lubed and run them every so often checking how they line up. Any pictures?
  18. It's been a couple weeks now with the new fuel return location and the miles are still increasing. I did change brands of two stroke oil to a synthetic TCW3 bought accidentally. May have something there.
  19. I bought a 2001 Laramie 4 months ago with 190,000 miles. It had an intank lift pump and had never tasted 2 stroke its entire life. Over the last 4 mos. I've been working bringing it up to proper standards, ie, complete fuel system upgrade, electrical connections /grounds cleaned. Everything done has gradually increased mileage numbers with the big line kit, added pre filter, drinks of 2 stroke oil, but the biggest surprise was running the fuel return down the fill neck. This has helped most of all because air bubbles were getting sucked up the 1/2 inch draw straw.( explains my erratic fuel pressure readings prior)
  20. IBM, is a 'BLUB' as you say one of those non LED bulbs?
  21. Once you get the new one have the inside and outside sprayed with Line X bed liner it will last till doomsday. They mostly run black color but you could paint it or wait till they are running white. They do from time to time. Another thing is there is a company up by me that can make you an all aluminum housing. They have a louver punch and can do aluminum welding to seal it up. It would run you about 400 bucks at BBC Steel.
  22. Watch your health I've seen a few super's than got ill from weight of job on their shoulders. I think it's a tough one. Smoothest job I ever did was a high dollar home that I prayed a lot over. Things fell in place at unbelievable moments in the schedule. Even unplanned things worked for the benefit of completion. It was a real lesson on power of prayer.
  23. Sounds like renegotiation time because, as I know construction it is a tough enough job and is compounded up to many times by tight schedule. The stress can become too much and hard on your health bud.
  24. Just walk into the building permit dept. and tell them how much you like Donald. That way you'll get plenty delays, be able to go to the meet..
  25. IBM, I know you got internet while on the road. I may have to finally join the human race after all and do something about it.
