  1. Dripley, I know, I know, your minds been on settin' up the rocket launcher for the fourth right? . I can understand....... Remember.... I'm the guy who was tellin a guy how to pull injectors on a 12 valve first gen but the thread/ subject was on 24 valve second gen forum. Too bad they haven't learned a way to separate the two areas of the pump via a longer shaft and two separate 'O' rings. If it leaked fuel it would leak onto the ground and give a signal it's time to change the 'O' ring.
  2. I think those relays may not be 100% reliable so I carry an extra one, but another way is to cross the correct two pins on the relay and it can be hot wired that way. IBM told me which two pins to do a test ( should have wrote it down). There is also an electrical diagram on the relay that will tell you also Dripley, you said ''powered by the relay'', but it's powered by the battery when the relay is triggered by the ECM I know you know this Boss... just want to clarify..
  3. I learned something from you now with this experience too ya know..... Always carry a wore out extension cord in the truck to make hot wire positive/ negative if ever I need to bypass the relay or the ECM. Good thinking xc2. Appreciate you sharing this story. I like where your fuel pressure gauge is..... mines in the same spot on my 01 truck.
  4. First I've heard of this. I'm glad it was easy fix . How you doing otherwise? Hoping all's well in your new career as it sounds interesting.
  5. I have one I pulled out. If you want it for free it's yours. Send me PM with address, I will ship it to you.
  6. I installed 1/2'' shut off valves either side of lift pump and pre filter to stop the bath and not loose prime while changing. I also carry an extra Carter behind the seat.
  7. To help the VP44 dump in a quart of 2 stroke oil (TCW3) to every tank of fuel. That helps the VP a lot as they were originally designed for the higher lubricity fuel before the ULSD junk.
  8. Dripley, don't be aiming that rocket launcher at my house. Have a happy 4th everyone.
  9. If your are going to keep using the oem air box its good to shave the lip on the lower box just a little. It helps the upper section seal better/ tighter to the stock filter rubber seal.
  10. Remove all pin connectors and blow out with air? The VP, ECM, PCM then blow out all connectors in general.
  11. .' mall crawler'. you see them so common everywhere around town. Every contractor I ever hired with a jacked truck has never done good work and was a problem subcontractor on the job. I do not mean to slight anyone on the forum who sits high up in his truck as I can understand the fun of having the view up there while cruising down the road. I'm merely expressing my experience with those that seem to be aggressive on the job or on the road.
  12. What if you mixed copper dust with epoxy would that make a good cold solder? I am assuming the aluminum case takes heat away from the solder making it difficult so that's why I ask...
  13. I can't wait to get mine back down to stock as my older second gen is stock and I like the way it drives. For some reason most the guys with dodge trucks all jacked and oversized tires seem to drive a bit aggressive for some reason. So I'm bucking this trend you see so common now.
  14. That's actually Dripley's head carpenter ( a 6 foot 8 inch tall transvestite) who was caught stealing everything from tires to sewer pipe off the job He was finally caught after placing a hidden cam inside the water meter cover.
  15. Me go back roads, leave very early, days in advance. Your funny Joe, I was here in Oregon during the 1979 eclipse I think it was, and there was no fuss at all. I was buzzing up a $1200 dollar unit of 4x 6's before they were unbanded, buzzed right thru them with a chain saw and the boss stopped me when it was getting dark. It was very weird/ erie. Daniel I hope your coming up 395. It's more remote in Oregon at least.
  16. Are those in your repossession yard from mechanics liens?
  17. I looked up complaints and problems with Toyota Trucks and you would not believe the litany of problems. Everything from paint falling off to many rusted frames that go beyond repair. Salvage tittle on a two year old truck because the frame was unfixable. Bad air intakes that cost 4000 bucks to replace bad oil seals on trans shafts. I'm talkin newer ones too. Many are leaving Toyota after having been loyal customers for years.
  18. Thank you for the box on the 53 block. I've been looking in the wrong places, looking harder and harder because I can't believe I bought such a perfect truck... knock on wood... With 190,000 miles it's almost perfect.
  19. Best thing is talk with a truck dealer. They know the better companies by actually using them on a regular basis for their customers. Credit Unions are usually the best all around with a very low fee to join up. I heard that some of the interest rates are less than the inflation rate at around 3.5 %
  20. I misunderstood then about the tent sites. However, she did say she would try to get me close to IBM or Mopar Man And she did say too that since I'm so small that she could also get me a parking spot near her building if need be. Michael if you drive back/ forth, Daniels and My Frig will be full of food and drinks anyway.
  21. X2 btw, Tent sites are available or double up with IBM or MoparMan if their sites are long enough. She said she will try getting me a tent site near by at any rate.
  22. What a good Dad you had Dave. Makin me want cry hearing this. Did he believe in our Lord, King of Kings?
  23. I don't use the Walmart stuff because of inconvenience/ distance to go get it., but the big reason is I noticed it's a lot thinner or seems to be watered down. Whenever a place has a case of a good name brand in the gallon containers I will buy 1-2 cases if they give me a discount. Just paid $108 for 6 gallons at Oreilly's and will last me for awhile. I noticed the Wally World stuff soaked thru cardboard much faster, made me suspect, when I used the cardboard paper towel center tubes for a funnel to pour into my flatbed.
  24. I have a source for the old CI-4 oil and still use it in both trucks. It also smells very oily when up to full temps.
