Graco Airless Sprayer
Thank you HR. I'm havin fun taking it apart and learning the workings. As soon as I put the Graco lube to the pump it ran much better. Opened the gear case cover and added more grease to the gears. That seemed to help. Will rebuild the pump like you say, you have me convinced, so going for a new seal kit today. So far I'm impressed with it's design build quality. So just soak the intake and priming hoses in Lacquere thinner and then run it for an hour. Do you remove the filter screens? I forgot how much fun it is to get a new toy that's old( might be 20-25 yrs old), pay so little for it ($125) and get it to work like new again. HR, I did watch a U tube vid on the pump. I think I can figure it out..... though.... I might need help at some point.

Yes I have watched several U tube vids on troubleshooting and easy fix its. Amazing the best ones are from a guy in Idaho called 'the Idaho Painter. He's got the best clearest vids.

Graco Airless Sprayer
thank you, Currently using 'Krud Cutter that dissolves latex. It's getting the filters and screens clean. Soaking the gun right now. Looks like oil based paint was used one time, thankfully, got that removed from the pick up tube screen by poking a wire brush thru the screen. I'm going for a new hose tomorrow and it does have a new tip thankfully. Paint store said it's probably best not to run anything thru it that dissolves paint as it may cause a lot of clogs in the future. I don't think it's ever had the anti corrosion stuff run thru it because some rusty water ran out in the beginning with the hose off. Anyone know if it's normal for the pump to have a little knocking sound in there?

Graco Airless Sprayer
I bought an old Graco 395 pro series airless sprayer. I does work well when I tested with water but taking the filters out and intake screen off I noticed someone didn't clean the unit very well and has cured paint in the intake tube. Rest of it has diluted paint cured inside like it was rinsed but not long enough. Anyhow I got all the filters cleaned but wonder what else I can do for it. If anyone knows, I want to use it for oil treatments to maintain my log house. Thanks anyone.

Trump our man?
Yep, Money grubbing greediness, taking lavish vacations without a thought is not a virtue for a good leader.. My vote goes to a guy in Idaho with grease on his hands that I know .

Help....Know just enough to be dangerous and having problems
Did you check for tank vent problem? Also how many miles on the VP?

Help....Know just enough to be dangerous and having problems
I've heard of guys pulling the wiring harness connector a couple times to help clean the contacts and then use dialectric grease. There is a trick to unlocking it but cannot remember. Hope someone will add... but, I think you pull a small lock tab but don't go by my word.

Thanks for thinking of me Joe, I just don't have any time is the problem. Busiest season I have ever seen in Oregon.

cracked fuel filter housing.
Sounds like you still may have the factory fuel lines with banjo bolts. All needs to go away with half inch line kit to the VP. Also check for tank vent clog... you'll hear a vacuum/ hiss when removing the fuel cap slowly after a run.

Help....Know just enough to be dangerous and having problems
To be pro-active against common problems with these trucks you need; Fuel pressure gauge kept above 14 at all times An alternator that throws out little AC noise (below .1 volts ac) Good grounding, good batteries, good connections. Timbo APPS. Fuel filter prior to lift pump to catch sediment. My personal preference is getting rid of the intank screens. Also check for a vacuum hiss sound right after a run slowly removing the fuel cap. Hiss means a clogged tank vent making the lift pump work harder. Poss. fuel starvation. Unrelated to your codes, just some info. How many miles.?

Fuel lubricity
You know you'll hear loads of different things on any forum. I once read about a VP44 rebuilder that while working hands on in the shop discovered that biodiesel was one major factor as to why VP's give up mechanically. Wouldn't it be better expressed by not blaming biodiesel fuel and instead blame a lack of good filtration?

Fuel lubricity
I agree, every band aid they require costs more money to everyone. Higher truck cost, lower mileages, more engine wear, all guarantees manufacturers, refiners and parts counters greater profits to collect tax on profits.

God's blessings and love to you both as well. Glad it's moving south, it would be so sad to loose the beauty of the area you are in.

Fuel lubricity
2 stroke is good insurance against bad fuels too. I've been doing it for many years starting out with using new clean motor oil many years ago and noticed a difference against the new fuel they are refining. I also got a card that allows fueling at the commercial cardlock places. That fuel is noticeably better qualitry also. It's unbelievable how Epa is unconcerned with score values in diesel. I would think they would want diesel vehicles to last longer given the amount of energy to produce everything associated with them.

I'm done with NAPA over a failing alternator, and TC lockup issues.
Any update on Larry B's option? Mike is so cool to express the importance of low Alt. AC noise. He has helped many with this issue.

cracked fuel filter housing.
Genos sells new F/F caps made of steel if you want to save some money. Those plastic caps break when using the inside square drive w/ a ratchet. It helps not crack when you use the outside big socket instead.

How far away is the fire from your place, Mike? Is it traveling toward you?

Off grid power systems
Some water sources are less apt to freeze. I think depending on how fast the water is moving. We are remodeling and old cabin that has an old water wheel and spillway behind it only about 14 feet away. It was designed to power the surrounding homes in the early days. Joe you are welcome to come visit and check how it was designed so it regulated the rpms to never go into an over spin situation.

Off grid power systems
Mike you took me up and showed me that water source. Nice place you got. I agree that a hydraulic power source would work well. A hydraulic engineer that worked for Portland General Electric company I spoke with, said that he once calculated what a 4 inch ABS pipeline laying in the creek, 150 feet long and dropping just 50 feet with the correct turbine generator could power as many as three homes. I hope I remember that correctly.
