Thanks Dorkweed, that does help. I don't know how you got that name cause you sound pretty smart to me anyhow.

Bleeding two fuel lines?
I wouldn't go any more course than 00 fine steel wool. And even then put something over the hole to stop dust.

Dorkweed, in your sig you have a few mods I'd like to ask....What is the tone ring mod?Why did you do a tank vent mod? And, What is the Fram boost intake mod? Sounds interesting, does it help mileage ?T.I.A.

-20 celsius truck barely started
Was that with the block heater plugged in? Sometimes they go out or the cord goes bad. You can tell if it's working when you plug in since you can hear the very low sizzling sound it makes.I'm currently using two deep cycle batteries in my truck. Works great but about once a month I top off with the charger since deep cycles are a little different charge needs than the voltage regulator sends out from the truck.

Bleeding two fuel lines?
I had one of mine leaking ever so little so I just took the open end wrench and just bumped it tighter with the palm of my hand. I just bumped it a little tighter.

Bleeding two fuel lines?
I think it's the O rings not the threads. I doubt you are cross threaded bad enough to make it leak at the threads. I think they are a tappered thread and are able to seal on their own without the tape. Just need to be torqued the right amount. You could try loosening the injector nut all the way and retighten to specs.

Missing at idle. Been to 3 shops $4800 later...still no fix
I can only add a couple of speculative items to check;Bad tank vent? When the trucks runs long enough the tank could be getting a vacuum built up. With a clogged vent could it be eventually be sucking air into a marginally connected fuel line somewhere?Symptom of a bad tank vent is after a run, you slowly remove the fuel cap and you hear a small hiss/ sucking sound with the tank expanding back to a normal size. For that matter a fuel line that allows air to suck in after the fuel gets warmer and warming the fuel lines?:shrug:Could it be an injector that is not torqued down enough?Fuell filter o ring not tight? When the trucks running cold pull the radiator cap off and let it warm till she runs rough again and see if there are air bubbles coming out the top of the antifreeze just down inside the cap. Please let everyone know what you find it helps us all too.

Fuel Pump power feed 98.5/5.9
As for the safety issue mentioned above, this is a very important point. Mike, wouldn't there be a safe way to hook up the pump direct if you used the Alternator as the relay activation and then run off the main battery fuse for power. I think Dripley hooked his lift pump direct to the Alt without a relay can't remember if that is safe or not.

2002 2500
The Sport model has the no chrome front, no chrome bumpers. It comes with the brighter sport headlites and the fog lamps. I think the front of the hood and fenders are shaped a little bit different too. I didn't buy it new so not completely sure. I heard the sport option was 1200 bucks more back then.

I'm glad you passed on it. Stick to your guns. They'll never let you down.Just to see what I did.... I spent 7 grand more that that, 6 years ago on a 29,000 mile 2002 ctd. Still under warrantee with a never cancelled extended warrantee. It's close to having all the options you can get. Not all but, very close. Now with all the mods I have done and only 70,0000 miles it might be worth what that guy was asking. So I'm glad you passed. Now, I believe things happen for a reason... you just keep looking and have some faith, the right deal will come along and you will know when it's right.

What kind of mileage with Your RV
I am curious about what kind of mileage you guys get hauling your RV's.I get right around 14.1 hauling a 3,000 lb camper. Running around 60 mph. Usually over one mtn. pass and then the rest of the same tank used mostly on level highway. How 'bout you guys?T.I.A.

Turn the key just till the steering wheel turns. Don't start the truck. Bring a mechanics creeper and look at all the steering linkages under the truck while your buddy moves the back wheel back and forth. Have him keep doing it till you've looked at all the ball joints and tie rod ends. Look at the upper trac bar bushing (bar that goes diagonal up to the frame). Look for anything loose. It only takes a little movement (loose connection) to make bad steering. Also look at the steering box shaft for movement inside the box. When your buddy moves the wheel tell him hard enough right to left, fast enough to help detect problems. Most important.... jack the front wheels off the ground and take a bar to lift the wheels up and down and look for loose movement Remove the air intake tube from air filter to the turbo and run a clean rag inside. Any dust showing on the rag and I would walk away. There shouldn't be any dust. Sorry about my 'Grampa' truck comment.... just wanted to give you a different perspective, different way of looking for a cream puff truck.

I think you should look for another truck also. You don't want a truck that someone fell for the K and N scenario. You want a seller that has read these threads and others. Done the research showing that he cared for the truck well enough. Prudent enough to do the reading first.IMHO I would not want a truck that's probly been romped with big beefy tires. Find an all original 'grandpa' truck that shows some sweet care.:thumb1:If he's willing to take advantage of someone on the price too, that's a big signal to steer clear. What else is he not telling honestly?

Boot waterproofer
I've been using something called 'Snow Country'. Seems pretty good. The guys at the lumber yard spray their boots each morning with Thompson's water seal. They say that works good. It's a silicone base product.

Calling all wiring guru's!
Mike the reason I mentioned the fuse again is because some guys by pass the PDC AND hook the camper batteries directly to the truck batteries. Couple questions: Is it better to pass the PDC and go directly to the batteries for any remote possibility of something happening there? Not sure on this one . I have the camper batteries hooked direct to the truck battery with the old type isolation relay. Mike, on your rv, do you experience your headlight switch getting a little too hot with night time driving like I did? If so, what did you do about that?

Calling all wiring guru's!
A sticky on that would be nice. Especially since I'm old school ( or an 'old screw' ) for still using the old continious duty relays on my camper with the points inside.I did place an in cab switch so I can let my truck batteries recuperate first, then switch the camper batteries onto the truck later. An important point is a fuse because if the camper batteries are really down low you can get a huge insurgence of power from the truck batteries to the camper which can cause some problems which the fuse will protect against.

Vote 2012
Stepping back is good. Set yourself apart. Really take note. You know, back when I was in private school we had an instructor that read three newspapers everyday. She cut out articles related to gov't. actions, money spent, that sort of thing. Articles that seemed to leave important unanswered questions and she'd file them away. As time went on with her continued reading, she would stumble on another article connected to the past. No one remembered the long gone article mos. earlier, sometimes years before. But this lady, and she was one cool person, could put 2 and 2 together like no one else you ever heard. She knew what was going on, reading between the lines was her talent. When you got her lecture it was a real shocker and all about the money and greed in out leaders. I like the conversation above about the fuel mileage. Putting 2 and 2 together. Interesting. Boils down, it's all about money. Every time they require a new smog device it's another company start up and profits taxed.

Vote 2012
yeah my daughter married an Obama supporter. He thinks he's intittled to many things. He lived here rent free and was supposed to work off the rent by helping out around here. In 6 mos. he maybe worked 3 solid days. There is a few missing items too. Just small stuff, but what bothers me the most is how he felt living a free loader was just fine. Without asking he helps himself to my things and shop space. I couldn't believe how he wouldn't even ask first.

Vote 2012
I don't have anything against folks that vote for Obama. I just cannot understand, which I'm very glad to discuss, why some cannot see..... that more and more illegals coming over for free medical care and other entittlements, makes it more difficult to single out and identify extremists wanting to murder innocent people. To me it's an open border policy.

What if our credit rating tumbles and the Chinese now want to own 'only' our National Parks. Wouldn't that be just sad? But, that's the way we are headed. And the chinese create this money they loan by printing presses and money value manipulations. They have a greater control on their dollar value is what I heard. So loaning bucks to the U.S. will have some predatory value for them. Then look at Obama care... We will have more illegals jumping the fence. They'll be coming over in droves. Then moral values are disintigrating on all levels with same sex marriages and legalizing drugs, not investigating misappropriation of major funds like the 1/2 billion that Obama approved to go to the solar company and suddenly went out of biz. Somehow they can't find where the money went. To me the FBI should be called to look into it. What gets me is you hear no more about it.Fellow diesel buddies on this forum.... I don't know how you feel about all this, but, I think when America starts to make God mad, I feel His wrath will be indeed upon us. We are entering a time in which the problems are becoming much more unsolvable. It's a predicted sign of things to come as told in Matthew 24.Hope you guys don't mind me sayin this stuff and I hope not to loose some friends around here. That would make me feel sad:(We need to stick together, even if only by forum and retain what little sense of good america is left. I like all you guys's trucks, guns, honest hard work, good sense, and good ole Amercan know how to get things done.

New Driveway Gate
Good job. I always liked those type gates. They are nice, not a fancy gate to get attention from thieves.
