  1. Mike, I've gotta agree with Russ here. Even towing down long grades going at a good speed, my truck doesn't gain speed!!! That said, I've not trailered thru Chattanooga or the like towing with my truck...towing.....but she doesn't gain speed at all. And JFYI, I just had a full brake job done about 2 months ago because of a seized drivers side caliper. Ain't no dragging brakes now!!! I'm gonna make a run to return the _____ I'm breeding my male to within the next couple weeks. I'm not gonna be towing.........I think...........but I'll report my mileage on the trip. The trip will likely be to at least Marion, IL..................and I'm almost Wisconsin!!!!! So it'll be worth reporting!!!
  2. I wish I could've voted in 2 or 3 catagories. Towing in relatively level country, I use the cruise a lot....on state highways and interstates. If I get into the hills in southern Illinois and Kentucky or Iowa or norther Wisconsin, I never use the cruise, because I can get better mileage towing in the hills without it, and the EGT's get too high for my liking with it on and towing.
  3. Warmer (hot) weather and warm fuel will make them tick a bit more also.
  4. Czesc Joshua!!! Sorry, I don't know too much more than that and the "curse" words!!! Dually took the "advanced" course. Welcome aboard!!
  5. Hopefully you didn't find that out "just recently"!!!!I hope you just didn't have time to post the cause of the problem!!!

  7. My Bud has an '03 3rd gen that just hit 310,000 miles this past week. I can't vote for him though!!!
  8. I do believe that would work in a lot parts of Chitcago, Illinois also. Don't ask how I know that either!!
  9. That is a great blankety-blank thought Mike!!!:thumb1: And that same engine would have "mega-torque"!!!
  10. Hopefully we'll have a different "regime" in there in this coming election. That said, this is what happens when "congress" cedes it's authority to an "agency" that is immune public scrutiny. If congress actually had to vote on these CAFE standards, and were accountable to "US THE VOTERS" this sort of crap wouldn't happen. The EPA hierarchy decides on these things, and congress "cow-tows" to them!!!! Sad but very true.
  11. Boy, was it like Hells furnace here today. Got up at 5:30AM to let the dogs out, and as soon as I opened the sliding door, the humidity hit me!!! Twasn't hot at that time, but the humidity made the dogs do their "business" and want to come right back in the house, even though I don't have the air on and all the windows were open in the house over night.Worked with a Bud of mine today. We share an account. We team up on each horse so that we can turn them out in just under an hour each. I'll tell you this...........it's hot and humid........mostly humid when I have a hard time catching my breath. All the moisture must displace oxygen or something. Twas a tough and sweaty day today.
  12. I'd have to agree here. The viscosity of the oil would be too much for the smallest (some say sub-micronic) soot particles to work thru even in a centrifuge. Not enough mass to the particle. My MotorGuard TP bypass is effective in keeping the oil "analytically clean"; but it's sure black as..........."insert your own colorful metaphor"!!!!!
  13. I wouldn't buy one of these things...........yet. Need more time and proof...........here's why........ For the last 10 or so years, Ford hasn't been able to procure or produce a "TURBO" diesel that's been worth a crap. Now they want them Ford Kool-aid drinkers to buy this???? A light weight gasser engine, twin turbo, up to 600hp. I can almost guarantee that it's not designed/built "enough" to be a durable high mileage engine.Do you need to pull the cab on this one to work on it!!
  14. West Miltmore, IL......aka unincorporated Lake County subject of "The Peoples Republik of Illannoyz"...........30 miles North of Chitcago and 5 miles South of the Cheddar Curtain (Wisconsin)!!
  15. It's normal and when you switch Amsoil it'll be black just as fast.
  16. I think that's not a bad idea!!:smart:Sorry ISX, but I couldn't help but think that when I clicked into your post it would involve motorcycles etc.!!!!! And I foresaw the title of the forum being titled FUBARed!!!!
  17. Did you buy this as a "used" truck??? If so, and you cannot find anything "obvious" wrong...........is it possible that there's a programmer installed in the ECM???
  18. Fertilizer don't do squat without rain............but you probably know that by now!!!
  19. You still liking that clutch AH64ID??? How's about an update mister!!!!!
  20. x2!!! I tried it, and I hated the sound it made in my '04.5. It actually sounded like the Martians from the original "War of the Worlds"!!!
  21. Quit your beachin'!!! At least you get acclimated to it when you get it day after day!!!! I used to live in Amarillo, so I know Texas heat............but it's a "dry" heat in Amarillo.:smart:We had, in my parts, mid/upper 90's last week for 4 straight days along with the un-Godly humidity. After the 4th day of that crap, a front comes thru, and it doesn't get over 55-60* with howling NE winds off Lake Michigan for the next 3 days!!!!! Talk about shock........one extreme to another!!! We've been cool and mild now for about a week, but they're calling for another temperature shock early next week........back to the hot and humid. If it never got over 75*, this cowboy would never complain!!!
  22. Good to hear!! I'm closing in on almost 146,000 miles on the truck, and 110,000 miles now running the "weed-wacker" lube!!:lmao: I started that thread on the "other site" on May 4, 2006. My truck wasn't quite 2 years old then. It's just over 7 years old now, and running great!!
  23. :piwwp:Sorry, but I've never used this emoticon before!!
  24. Can someone explain the "right turns only" on why that saves fuel????:banghead:
  25. Jeez Louise ISX!!!!!!!:duh: Nothing personal, but I cannot help it here...........I keep thinking of that line........."Picture of an idiot in action!!":smart: You're a "relatively" Southern boy, so I'll ask this...........before you attempted this, did you ask anyone, "Here, hold my beer", or did you just chug the last of it and toss the empty on the ground!!!!!!:lmao:Yup, I was young once also!!!! Hard to believe, I know!! But I've wised up in my time here on Earth. Sure glad you'll be OK..........I think............are you gonna still ride??!!!
