Some more mods on their way....
I occasionally have trouble finding 1st or 2nd gear when warm also. It's usually when I'm sitting at a stop and go light and toss her into neutral to wait it out. Then when I depress the clutch, it won't go into gear unless I depress the clutch again and rev her a bit and then she drops right in.:smart:Glad you're liking it!!

Come on "Dude"............You've gotta be lovin' this clutch by now!!!!!:2cents:If you're "that" happy about it, and don't want to show the "wood"................just tell us, we'll understand!!!!! We'll give you crap about it, but those of us with the Con OFE know how it is!!!!!!!!!:lmao2::lmao:

As I said prior...........you're gonna love this clutch!!!!:2cents: This is the type of clutch that these trucks "should" have from the factory!!!! The stocker is marginal at best IMHO!!!! Look forward to your next post!!!:thumb1:

Fuel prices thread...
Knock on Wood:lmao2:, I've not paid over $4.00/gal yet this year!!! I've got a few stations around here that have been $3.89-3.99 for quite a while. That said, it still $120+$$$ to fill up!!!!:stuned:

unexpected bnefit?
Are you going by the OEM temp gauge in the dash????? If so, these essentially are nothing but "glorified idiot lights"!!!! They tend not to be real accurate. If'n you're running an after-market temp gauge, I'd say your radiator is plugged up with the oily, slimy crap from the OEM crankcase breather. Mikes already mentioned that mod.Wait, I re-read your post:duh:..........you're having trouble maintaining temp??????? Is that correct???? It's gotta be thermostat related or else see my first paragraph here. That or you must do a lot of "low speed" driving. My 3rd gen even in hot weather will run at 190 if I'm doing low speed stuff. The cooling systems on our trucks are very, very, good. You've really gotta work'em to get the temp up!!

Do I Buy a 07
^^^^^^This x2!!!! The 6.7's with the deletes get great mileage...........like the early '03-'04 3rd gens. The 6.7's have the same piston design as the early 3rd gens.

The Second Opinion
:lmao:Kind of like the "Irectumy"!!! An "irectumy" is the procedure that cuts the nerve bundle that goes from your brain to your rectum. This procedure cures the "crappy" outlook many have on life!!

Some more mods on their way....
You're gonna love that clutch my friend!!!!! I've got almost 75,000 miles on my SB Con OFE. Probably 45,000 (at least) of that is towing also!! You don't need the SB hydraulic kit with this clutch, but knowing you, you probably got it anyhow!!!!!:lmao2:It's grabby when compared to the stocker. But not grabby like their Con FE.........which I don't think they sell any longer. I, like you, could slip the clutch at will towing or cruising when I got a "happy foot". That was back when I was running the Edge J w/A also. My Smarty would've toasted the stocker faster because of the "low end" of the Smarty!!Update after the install!!!!:hyper:

Bump to the top.................any updates ISX?????

I haven't been on much lately, due to flooding!
That "low groin" hinders me also!!! Keep the "faith" man..........I'm praying for you!!!

Taking out the 2" level...
I've never, ever been a fan of leveling kits. More specifically; spacers only.............this IMHO should essentially be called the "Death Wobble Starter Kit"!!!!!Get rid of that thing. I like the "rake" of the stock truck.

1.000.000 Miles Yet???
Typical of modern-day "reporters"!!!! Essentially all they are is "stenographers".........writing down what folks say without any questions!!!!!While I was attending the University of Illinois, there was a gal down the hall, a "journalism major" that thought Alaska was an "ISLAND" because they always showed it separate from the (her words here) "from the rest of the country, just like Hawaii"!!!!! Enough said, y'all know where this is gonna go!!

Acquired 05 and the Headaches also
Those are some "odd" codes. Meaning that I've never seen them posted in a forum before!!! I dunno Dude. Do you have an "independent" mechanic that could give it the "once over"/"check it out" treatment??!!!In all honesty, I've never seen those codes posted before. Guys, do y'all think it could be a wiring thing, or a plug thing etc. Do all these codes revolve around the same circuit on the truck????? Hail call to Mike!!!!!!!! Check out last sentence in above paragraph.

I think I have an injector going south on my DD... need help.
Tell them of your dilemma, and maybe they'll work with you!!! Just saying here.............this is not from experience. Like I said, "just saying"!!

Documentating my projects
Russ, doesn't this scenario kind of remind you of the "Samsonite" gorilla in their luggage commercials??!!!!:lmao2::cry:

Acquired 05 and the Headaches also
Is this a 100% stock truck???? A bit more info would be helpful for us!!

I think I have an injector going south on my DD... need help.
I'm not gonna say the tech is wrong, because it very well could "just be the injector nozzle"..............That said, my new work trailer only goes about 3500lbs. and my old one went about 4500lbs. or so. I have never had a problem towing either of them around suburbia where my speeds for the most part are under 45mph. I tow most everyday of the week though, but if I do get the chance, I'll drop my trailer at a farm if I'll be there the next day..........just so I don't have to tow it home and then back again..............I'm being "Green" that way, by saving fuel!!!!!:lmao2:Do you "short shift"??? If so, rev her up to about 22-2300rpm before you shift gears. It's easier on the driveline, and it'll keep you from lugging the engine...............which is probably the major cause of soot/carbon buildup. I'm at 143,000+ miles on my 04.5 now, and she's still running strong as ever.

What he and the others said. Do you tow for a living??? Do you have "business" insurance that would reimburse you for a rental vehicle???? If so, it may be cheaper in the long run to rent a vehicle until you can get "proven, quality injectors"!!! No offense meant mrtowman4u............but if I'm gonna spend some serious bucks on injectors for a 3rd gen, IMHO, they'd better be the best..........not just tips, etc. If you're gonna spend the bucks on your truck for a bad injector........especially if your truck has 150,000+ miles on it.................do all 6 injectors and make sure they are OEM's, or enhanced ones by DDP, Formula 1 etc. In the long run, you'll be money ahead and way happier!!! Tips alone don't mean crappola on a 3rd gen. Often times its the injector bodies or the injector body inerds that fail due to the pressures and multiple injection events. Going the cheap route solves nothing here!!

Wait Til the Wedding Night??
I knew y'all would like it!!!! I still have nasal iced tea spray on my keyboard from when I first saw the picture on another forum!!!!!!:lmao2:What is it?????? "A picture is worth a thousand words." Does that really hold here???!!!

2 Stroke and the Common Rail
I first read about it about a year after I got my 04.5. Prior to that I was using PS+MMO:doh: in my 04.5!!!!!! It was on another website called http://www.dieselram.com. I still hang out over there. I don't remember the members name that said to use 2 stroke though..........probably because he doesn't go there anymore.......I dunno!!!!! Side note.........anyone with a tranny problem.........go to the above site..............a member named TimHolt(call name also) is a tranny guru. Hope you don't mind about the plug, Mike. Tim IS that good IMHO. Tim knows the 47RE, 48RE, NV4500 and NV5600 trannys in our trucks like the back of his hand.

2 Stroke and the Common Rail
On May 4, 2011, it'll be 5 years since I started using 2 stroke oil in my 04.5. I had to go back to CF to find the exact date...........sorry Mike..........but I couldn't remember!!!! For those interested, that thread over there that I started and Mike took over was the biggest thread "over there" for a couple years!!!!! Even with most of the Mods over there doing their best to unplug the "2 stroke" revolution!!!I figure in just under the 5 years now since using the 2 stroke, I've logged about 110,000 miles on the stuff. Still get good mileage.........both towing and empty.............my mileage high occurred last summer.........23.3mpg hand calculated running essentially 65mph!!!I'm still running the OEM injectors..............I've got a 2micron secondary filter after the 7micron filter in the OEM filter housing. Running a GDP lift pump fuel system.I can blow some smoke out the tailpipe when I want, but she cleans up fast. I could turn up the TM on the Smarty, but I tow a lot and don't want to stress the drive train that much. Conservatively speaking, I'd say I'm at about 375HP and 750ft. lbs. with my current settings. That's running fuel with 2 stroke added also!! In the lower gears, I have to be easy on the go-pedal on wet roads, because Mighty Whitey will break'em loose.......and that's granny type driving!!!That's all.

Way to go CajFlynn!!!!! Sorry for being absent here over Easter, but I had a full house of "out-of-town" relatives. I wonder if a Stealership DBRIII scan tool could reset the Odometer to zero again???? You should notify Cummins also.........I think they'd love to hear about this!!!!:smart: Keep on Truckin'!!!!!
