  1. Its now Christmas Eve already. Just wanted to take a minute to Wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas! We have a great community here on Mopar1973Man.com and I appreciate everyone for their help, conversation and different views on various topics. I have learned a lot here and consider you all more than just other forum members. I look at you all more as friends I have not met yet. This is a friendly place to discuss our Dodge Cummins trucks and many other topics that come up from politics to our daily lives. I do not partake in Facebook so this is my social media. I get on here regularly just to see what's been going on. Its usually my first stop with morning coffee and the last stop before bed. I have been recently asked to be on the Board of Directors for the site. I hope to help contribute in that capacity and be a part of the site moving forward in the future. I think together we can all make it happen. So in closing, thank you all for your input, advise and friendship. I appreciate you all ( even you @dripley LOL). HAVE A MERRY CHRISTAS EVRYONE!
  2. I though i would post up what I know about better fuel mileage thus far. Gearing and tire size have a lot to do with it as well as driving habits. there are many variables. My truck is a mainly stock 2nd gen 3500 dually with a 5 speed manual so I will speak to this truck in the post. others can add their tips pertaining to their setup as we go. I know some of you have tuners that make a huge difference but not all do. the Quadzilla adrenaline seems to be the go to for mileage and power among other things. That being said, here are some basic tips to get a bit more MPG's !. A well maintained engine. Change oil, a clean engine is more efficient, good fresh oil helps check your air filter minder, change filter if needed How many miles on your injectors? (see article in tech section to determine their condition) Low Pop Pressure and detecting it - Fuel - Mopar1973Man's Dodge Cummins Forum 2. Tire pressure. we should all know by now that a flat or low tire doesn't roll as well as a fully inflated one. Check your pressure! I don't really recommend over inflating your tires since it will cause uneven wear, lower the contact area to the road and ride rougher as well but in my experience a few extra lbs of pressure don't hurt. Do not go over the pressure on the sidewall of the tire! My sticker from the factory states 65lbs/front and 50lbs/rear. Tire sidewall says 80psi max. I normally run what the sticker states because I don't haul all the time. Most of my miles are an empty truck. That being said I still wear the center of the rear tires since there is not enough weight back there to flatten the contact area to the pavement. While we are on tires, alignment is important as well, have it checked or check it yourself. it can be done. Also check for worn suspension parts at this time. You wont get good results with worn out parts in place. Oversize tires, well you kinda knew your mileage would fall off didn't you? There are ways to get some back but I wont go into that here. I am using my truck and experiences with it. Someone else may chime in. 3. Drum brake guys. Make sure you keep your rear drums adjusted properly but try not to allow them to drag when the brakes are not applied. This will create a parasitic drag on your drive train. Like pulling a small trailer. It will lower you MPG's 4. Do you really need all that stuff in your truck? Reduce the weight! I have a tool box behind the cab, i carry jumper cables, straps, a chain and a few other things. I have used all the items I carry at one point so I leave them in there. I do not carry an entire tool set with me as it's not needed. Any extra weight you can leave at home will help. 5. Winter fuel Winter fuel will not yield the same MPG's as summer fuel. I live in Northern Ohio so we do get winter blended fuel when the temps drop. I do notice a difference. There is more of that ex[plained on this site, maybe someone could post a link for me? Thanks 6. Driving habits If you are one to go full throttle from stoplight to stoplight then well, that's not gonna help your mileage. I have a 5 speed manual and usually drive pretty conservatively. I shift gears at around 2000-2200 RPM. I don't try to drive my truck like a race car. I average 17.5 MPG just daily driving. Prior to this truck I owned a 1999 Chevy suburban that only got 16 MPG doing the same thing. Now i have twice the truck (if not more) with better MPG's. Drive conservatively and you will save a little at the pump. I thought I would put this up with the fuel prices getting out of control in most places. Some will be looking to find ways to save a few $$ here and there. If anyone else has something they would like to add or if I missed or forget something please feel free to toss it in here. I feel most of my suggestions are basic but sometimes get overlooked.
  3. Yeah ,I anticipate that. I may have to build a step to lay under the oem or go to camping world and get a set up with 4 steps. We have 3 steps now.
  4. @IBMobile, if you do ever make it to michingan let me know. Love to meet up with ya. We just bought our 5er this year. I need to catch up on some maintenance before i try to pull her to far. Same with the truck. On our way home from our last trip I lost the trailer brakes for some reason. I belive its a wiring issue on the trailer. Truck is putting out voltage. Also need to do a spring over axle on the camper to get it to ride more level. Rear bumper is pretty low. 1984 Fahrenheit 451 The Great Reset I belive we think alike. Just throwing that out there. Lol
  5. That would be very remotely close. Lol I looked up Mike's place, nearly 2100 miles away. I'd love take the trip but......
  6. Not sure what "baby hoses on the passenger side" your referring to. Mine only has the heater hoses on that side going into the heater core. If that's what your talking about I would check them at this point. Look closely for cracks and squeeze them to see if they're getting spongy. While you have the cooling system drained I would do a full system flush. There is a write up in the tech section that explains it. Most new radiators won't warranty unless it's done and a new thermostat is installed as well.
  7. He musta really had that turbo spooled up to pull it out.

There so much out there
  11. Thanks @IBMobile, I was driving and couldn't respond. Ill try to find the articles and link them in a bit. I get most of it from infowars.com if you want to check out the archives there.
  12. I agree 100%. I have heard accredited doctors and scientists come out publicly and say that the "vaccine" is what causes the mutations, fauci even said it himself! It is also causing swelling of the heart and blood clots. There have been many many soccer players in Europe that have collapsed on the field with heart attacks. Some have even died from this. These were athletes mind you and should be in tip top shape. The main stream media does not report any of this. Our government is hell bent on making everyone take these shots. I firmly believe there is a world wide agenda afoot here to reduce the population and they are pushing these new "green" deals such as electric cars. The whole thing is being done in the name of climate change. Bit truthfully it's just the elite seizing control through medical tyranny. Non compliance is my strategy so far. I refuse to take a shot that has not been tested per the fda standard vaccine test procedure which takes minimum 10 years. For God sake, the cdc changed their definition of a vaccine to be able to even categorize this shot as a vaccine!
  13. Sounds like a good plan. Nothing wrong with some down time from the grind. Last year I had the entire winter off for the most part. From November through February I was down due to a torn meniscus in my knee. I enjoyed the time off. Would have been better if it were for a different reason.
  14. It's been pretty quiet here on our little corner of the interweb. Is everyone that busy with the upcoming holidays? If so I get it but I get bored. This is my Facebook. I've been somewhat busy with work but decided to take Thursday off so i could have a little home time to get some things done around here. the wife has been doing her Christmas baking. I've done my best to stay out of the finished baked good but that don't always work out. Lol Hope everyone has a great Christmas!
  15. Just curious if there was anyone near NW Ohio with an RV. I'd like to see if we could maybe arrange a forum meet at a campground somewhere. If there is any interest post here. If there is enough interest we will begin to work out some details!
  16. Close call there. You got lucky. At least now you'll have more firewood. Lol
  17. If I were closer I'd come see what you have.
  18. I see what ya mean @Evan, nice setup! Thanks for the pic. Looks pretty heavy duty for a jeep.
  19. So in essence you would have to have the track bar a straight piece of iron and the same angle as the drag link from the pitman arm to the right knuckle?
  20. I heard back from them. They emailed me a return label. Have to print that out and ship it back to them. Once they receive it I will be issued a full refund. I think I will order the correct one from either rock auto or DAP has one as well.
  21. Ok, I'm still waiting for them to get back to me. I'll have to send it back and either get a refund or wait on the correct replacement.
  22. This is the radiator that was sent to me. It all looks right just has the cooler for an auto Trans.
