  1. That's why they make a jack and jack stands Oh and Saturdays
  2. Pull the dash and disconnect the radio, not just the fuse. That's what we just found out was the drain on Dad's '05.
  3. Russ, to be clear this is an OEM installed unit. It is still a current option, as far as I know. The rate of discharge on Dad's truck was not from parasitic drain of the radio under normal conditions. It was a matter of a day or two.
  4. Not looking for sympathy, just need to express myself. Mom lost her short battle with cancer Tuesday evening while she slept. We buried her Saturday morning next to my Paternal Grandmother. So she is with the rest of the family that has passed before her, and they are showing her the ropes, as it were. It took 6 months, and she fought it hard, but cutting edge chemo couldn't even slow it down. 6 months ago it was a very small spot on the pancreas, and the chemo was started immediately. The way the doctors explained it, this type of cancer is not really even a cancer in the conventional sense (malignant cell growth). It is like a seperate organism growing in the body. On a side note there are two different types of Hospice. For profit and not for profit. The hospice in FL was for profit and would not put in a morphine pump for the pain till next week.:banghead:We flew Momma to Ohio 4 weeks ago and the non-profit Hospice came out and put the pump in that night. She had been relatively pain free ever since. Mom and Dad had just bought a house in Ohio and were in the process of moving back, when she was diagnosed. Obama care is already in full swing in the big cities where the elderly are concerned.
  5. Yea, t5hanks for posting the pics
  6. I'm not sure what the issue is with the radio, but the owner of the electrical shop where dad took the truck said this was a common problem with Dodges. Dad had him just unplug it.It fixed the problem, of the batterys draining, so I'm inclined to believe the guy. I have read of others having the same problem with batterys draining for no apparent reason. And thought this would be easy to do, to eliminate or confirm that the radio was the problem.
  7. Dad's '05 was draining batterys with ignition off. Found the solution. It was the radio. He has the Infinity, with 6 disc changer. This is apparently a big problem.
  8. POR-15 is good stuff as well. I made a typo in my post (corrected now). Should read JASCO prep and prime. Buy a cheap pump spray bottle for application. Something like what windex would come in. This stuff is great, after sandblasting or other removal process you can just spray it down good and leave it in the open. Rust will not come back where ever it is sprayed.
  9. Take a wire brush on a small side grinder and knock off the rust and then hit it with some JASCO prep and prime from Lowes. It turns the rust to black oxide. Scuff it with a Scotchbrite pad after it dries, to knock off the white residue, wipe down with laquer thinner and paint. The JASCO product is a rust killer and self etching primer.Keep out of eyes and don't inhale as this is Phosphoric Acid.
  10. Dad had a'96 with the 5.9 V-8 that regularaly got right at 20mpgs hand calculated, but it wasn't a 4wd. Best I could get out of my 5.2 was 17mpg on the interstate.
  11. Mine seems to be on avg. about 6mpg proud of hand calculated.
  12. Had to get extremely firm with warranty company. They have messed around long enough, the TIPM that they said was shipped yesterday overnight didn't ship till today. So it won't be there till Monday. So I told the guy that told me that to get his Supervisor on the phone. We had a good discussion and he agreed to authorize the more expensive Dealer supplied TIPM. Still can't get the truck till later in the week, cause there is nobody to fix it over the weekend. The money they saved going their route of suppling parts, is being eaten up by the rental car they provide. I told the guy and he agreed that at the end of the day we both gambled, and they lost, and it was time to do the right thing.Still don't feel better, but I have some small statisfaction that it is costing them more, this way then if the had sent the TIPM and the starter at the same time. Like the dealer tech told them to do.
  13. "06 2500, but I've only had it 3 months
  14. I have a 300SD engine and transmission available, which is the same engine. The only problem seems to be that the frontend components don't hold up well compared to other makes.
  15. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. What he said^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  17. Any update??? What did they find?
  18. No problem, I can get a new one.
  19. Good luck. Dealer in this area wants $89 to reflash. Not too bad considering.
