  1. That was going to be my next plan of action. Gonna talk my wife into helping me for a couple minutes. Have her move the wheel back and forth a little bit and see if I cant find exactly where the movement is coming from.
  2. I have a little steering slop as well. When you guys say you adjusted the steering box, you tightened it up I am assuming? How do you know how far to adjust it?
  3. If you mean not many vehicles have seat belts that are seat mounted, think about this though. Pretty much any truck that has a quad (extended) cab that has opening suicide style back doors, it probably has those types of seat belts. That way the people in the front seat dont have to un buckle every time the back doors are opened. This would include Dodge, Ford, and GM full sized trucks with quad cabs. That, to me, is a lot of vehicles. I am sure there is a source for them, just not sure where.
  4. Not sure on the belts. I have never had to replace them before. Come to think of it, that might also be a question for the upholstery shop. Even if they dont handle them, I am sure they would know where to get them. I am sure they would have had to replace seat belts at one point or another.
  5. The power service uses tons of alcohol and will mostly evaporate just like Mike said. I didnt mind using the Howes this last winter because it is a petroleum product still and doesnt have any alcohol in it. I still didnt really like having to use it but I didnt really have a choice at -50* F this winter..
  6. You might just go down to a good upholstery shop. Just had my driver seat re done in the 01 with all OE materials for less than $150. A good upholstery shop will be able to get it back right for ya.
  7. Not sure it would affect to much but your lift pump pressure shouldnt be more than about 5-7 psi while cranking I think. I have heard of people having issues with hard/no starts because the lift pump pressure was to high while cranking.
  8. I have seen some real good deals on craigslist too. Might be able to find something close to ya that way.
  9. I am going to have to check out the return lines in the next couple of weeks too. Finally started to get a hard start if I park up hill over night. I think the drain valve on the fuel filter might be leaking as well. Might just do all the sealing washers/Orings all at once when I change that valve out. Not looking forward to this job...
  10. You are probably thinking of Moparman. He has made over 27 once but he also has his truck set up to do it. I am still also finding it hard to believe myself. No offense or anything. I have heard people say that they made better mileage with lighter weight oils but it was a to the tune of about .5-1 mpg's better. Even a stock truck I am having a hard time believing. Maybe if it was a 2wd SRW shortbed regular cab with a stick.
  11. Thats really nice country around there. Been through with my old man in the big rig many times.
  12. Oh wait! Hex arent you up around Sandpoint?
  13. That isnt to bad. So just up past Silverwood then? We will definitely have to meet up at some point. It is going to be so nice being back in the north west again. We miss it badly. I have no comment Tom. How long ago was that?
  14. I do take 90. How far off the highway are ya? We will probably be going back and forth a fair amount.
  15. My comment didnt have anything to do with ND. I just got a better job opportunity in Montana and our folks and everyone still live in WA state. Just worked out that way we could be closer to family plus I will have a better job. The company I work for now is on the down hill slide is all. Nothing against ND.
  16. I totally understand the dead end job feel. That is why we are packing up and heading back west at the end of this month. Good to hear everything is working out for you!! Here is a big old happy birthday from Grand Forks, ND!!
  17. Looks like a good project. It is funny how those things just keep opening more and more issues. Its never just one problem. When I first read the thread title, the first thing I thought about was your avatar picture. Talk about bathroom project!!!
  18. I am just afraid that people will take these situations "to heart" like they did with sandyhook. Cause even more strict ammo/gun laws. And just when things were starting to cool off again!! They just need to realize that it wasnt the guns that committed the crime, it was the owners. You wouldnt send your gun to prison for killing someone....
  19. I dont know anything about that GPD one. I actually sell the four seasons brand stuff at my store. They are part of Standard Motor Products and I have no problem using their parts. As far as I can tell everything is good quality and they also have awesome warranties. Every part they mfg comes with a 36,000 or 3 year full replacement warranty. I might go that route when the time comes.
  20. Just saw that Thoroughbred Diesel is finally releasing VP's with new electronics vs used. Not sure how much more but they just announced it today. Also come with an 18 month warranty. They still sell VP's without new electronics but the warranty is not as good. Just throwing it out there!!
  21. My firefox browser still has square tabs I am on windows 8 but maybe not running the latest version of firefox or something?
  22. Ok. That is kind of what I was thinking. That way everything is new or at least been gone through. Gonna have to do it in the next year or two. Starting to get everything a bit oily down around it.
  23. I have had a slow leak in my system since I got the truck. Did all the testing and searching I could when I was in tech school. We also had the fancy machines but I never did find it. I was doing my monthly inspection on the truck the other day and I noticed the front of the compressor is wet. I think the front seal went out and that is where its leaking. Is it worth replacing that seal or just replace the whole compressor? I have rebuilt compressors before but I just dont know if it is worth putting parts in one that has over 220000 miles on it already.
  24. Ya some of the older trailer axles are getting hard to find kits for. The worst ones are when people take old mobile home axles and use them when they build home made trailers. Those axles were really only meant to get that house to the property then be trashed. I have seen all kinds of weird bearing/race sets in those things. Most of the time we end up replacing the axle in those cases.
  25. You can buy just the trailer hub to go back on your old trailer spindle. Most of the time it will just come with new races installed already. Something like this maybe? This is what I meant by hub assemblies. You can get the full kits for not much more than about $30-$35 per side anymore.
