  1. So that chuck of steel that Mike pulled out is supposed to flex? Where did the rumors start about having to much lift pump pressure will rupture the diaphragm? Just a little confused here because it sounds like we have to ideas here. One, there is no diaphragm, and the other is there is a diaphragm....
  2. Definitely go to the big truck pump. If anything you know they will have a good blend, otherwise there would be trucking companies up their butt about having trucks down because of their fuel. I wonder if you got a bunch of water in there last time you filled up. When I had troubles, I just dumped the whole quart of 911 in there and it seemed to work ok. Still didnt have full pressure but I was able to make it until I could top off with 10-15 gallons of #1. Problem solved.
  3. Wow, that is very good to know. Didnt realize thats what the LE/MG meant.
  4. The main reason I used the Howes is to give some lubricity back to the fuel. I am not sure where #1 runs on the lubricity scale but it cant be very good. I have heard about that Yukon blend. Does it have additives in it? Is it a blend of #1 and #2? What exactly is it??
  5. I havent heard many good things about the power service from the shops around town. Guys that use it a lot in the big rigs or heavy machinery usually have injector problems a few years down the road. The guys using either the Howes or the Shaffers stuff seem to not have injector problems like the power service. I am in the same temp range that MnTom is and its not very much fun. Our high temp for the last 2 weeks has been -5 and there has always been a 15-20 degree windchill on that. Since my fuel gel issue, I have only run #1 diesel fuel and the Howes treatment. I have had steady pressure even with the ambient air temp down in the -30's.
  6. That would be cool. I am just gonna throw it out there that I would be more than happy to be a guinea pig. This is awesome that you guys are able to come up with solutions to problems and will actually do something about it. Honored to know ya
  7. Found the part on another forum. It is indeed the pivot shaft retainer. Now I just gotta figure out which side it goes on... Wonder why it would come off randomly like this?
  8. Well the clip for the brake pedal rod is still on there as well. I think I may have come from the main assembly point where the pedals are hung from. There is one shaft that runs across that the brake and clutch pedals are hung from. Still cant see which end is missing a clip yet. Gotta get a mirror or pull down the knee bolster :banghead:
  9. The clip for the clutch master cylinder rod is still on it. This is just a regular E clip that fell. Still trying to track down what it came from.
  10. Probably the switch in the door that senses when the door is opened. Looks like it is inside the door just above the latch.
  11. Ok guys and girls, I have a good one for ya. I was driving to work this morning and When I stopped at a light, I heard "ting, tang, thud". Something fell from in the dash and hit my foot. I thought maybe the clutch pedal rod retaining clip fell down. I made it to work and looked on the floor. Its an E style clip almost the same size as a quarter!! Does anyone know where such a thing might have come from? I wiggled all the pedals back and forth and they didnt seem lose or anything. I will go out in the day light today and take another peek at it. Help!! I dont know if its safe to drive right now.
  12. Oh man. I saw that a few months ago and forgot to post it here!! For anyone who handles a lot of wood cutting, I would totally be looking at gettin one of these bad boys!!
  13. Ok, 'nother update. Some things came up for my buddy at the county shop and wont be able to help for a few weeks. I need to take the truck into the shop anyway to get the oil change, chassis lube, tire rotation anyway before my big trip to Colorado. I am just going to have the shop take care of the clutch job and that way it gets done before my trip. Are there any specific break-in procedures for the new clutch? Maybe I should just call DAP and see what they say?
  14. I may be confused here but if you put some cardboard in between the radiator and intercooler, wont it allow the intercooler to still get airflow but not the radiator? I would have thought that keeping the grill blocked off would give you higher IAT's. Because now you have the intercooler, radiator, and a/c condenser behind that blocked grill making heat with no air flow coming in. At least with it in between the two coolers, the condenser and intercooler are still getting fresh air. Maybe I am totally wrong but this is how it makes sense to me.
  15. I think you can just have your PCM reprogrammed for your VIN number. I have heard of places online that will do it or maybe the dealership would do it for ya?
  16. My stock pressure sender hasnt worked since I bought my truck. I have always just used a mechanical gauge after I heard that the stock one may or may not even read actual pressures. I do get the 0522 code but it doesnt set the CEL so it doesnt bother me.
  17. I used some pioneer speakers from BestBuy. I am very impressed with the sound quality from them. I do have an aftermarket kenwood head unit that puts out a little more power than a normal aftermarket unit. I just did the door speakers and it made a world of difference. The stock speakers were the infinitys but they couldnt keep up with my new head unit. For anyone who is looking for aftermarket stereo equipmtent, check out these two sites: www.crutchfield.com/‎ www.sonicelectronix.com/‎ I have had really good experiences with both places.
  18. I think there are 2 or 3 different senders used on the second gens. The latest one is a switch and the older ones are pressure senders. I thought the switch came in around 2000-2001?
  19. I think Mike didnt cut his at an angle at all. Just straight across and made some notches all the way around. That way its always as close to the bottom as possible but impossible to suck to the bottom of the tank.
  20. I would assume so. I dont think its anything more than a pressure switch, not really a pressure sending unit. As far as I know as long as there is more than 12 psi it just throws a number up on the gauge. As soon as it drops below that 12 psi, the gauge will go to 0 and it will probably throw a low oil psi light on the dash.
  21. As far as I know this is what's going on. There are 3 major propane pipelines coming down from canada. One of them came apart/exploded last week. We lost tons of propane but we are also now limited to 2 pipelines. That's why the price is so high. People around here that use gas heat for housing are told to set the thermostat at 60* to save gas. It's no good.
  22. Try switching the fuses from one side to the other. If the problem follows, its the fuse then. On a side note, I didnt realize these trucks had a fuse for each side. Kinda cool and good to know.
  23. I havent ever done anything with retriever training but I have done search dog training. It is very cool to watch a trained dog track someone over 10 miles after that person has walked the trail more than 6 hours ago. We worked with ground scent as well as air scent dogs. It doesnt matter what breed, be it lab, bloodhound, or whatever, I just think its the coolest thing. Congrats on your dogs performance!! That is awesome!
  24. That 1693 really just means there is another code in the system. I would try to track down that other code and see where that leads you. I am betting its related to your problem.
  25. I think the worst time I ever had driving in the snow and ice was in Seattle, WA. They only had gotten 2-3 inches of snow, but it is so moist out there being right on the ocean that it makes things super slick. It will drizzle, freeze, snow, drizzle, and freeze again. That stuff is NO good to drive on, dont care how good a driver you are. And then you throw in all the steep hills in the area and you park you truck, it starts sliding off the hill just because its so slick. No fun at all. Glad you were able to save her Hex. You'll get them deer next time
