  1. I myself just carry a good set of cables. I think mine are 2 gauge wire by 20 feet long so usually I can get to wherever the vehicle is parked without having to move anything. I would get a jump box but it is not worth it to me having to make sure its charged all the time and what not. I woud imagine leaving the box in the truck wouldnt really work out either with how cold it is here. The cold would suck the juice out of it pretty quick.
  2. I thought about that. That would make the most sense to me anyway. I am going to let them decide because its their project. I did find a solenoid valve for three tanks but it was for aviation use. They wanted like $725 for it and I am not quite ready to shell that kind of money out for a stupid little tank selector valve. Thanks for the thoughts. I will see what they think.
  3. Well hello all. I am having a hard time finding a fuel tank selector valve for a project I am working on. The particular truck involved is a 1972 GMC 2500. The old valve is cracked and leaking and we want to upgrade it to an electric valve if possible anyway. Here is the catch.... This truck has 3 tanks. The stock tank behind the seat, and one saddle tank on each side of the bed. I cannot seem to find anyone who makes such a thing!! I have tried all my suppliers at work (I.E. airtex, carter, spectra, velvac, dorman etc.). The old valve is just a mechanical switch on the floor and I cant even find that set up anymore. The saddle tanks are aftermarket but my dad and bro decided they want to keep them. Any ideas of where to check?? I even tried granger. No one seems to make anything other than a duel tank style. Thanks so much for the help!!
  4. I would try to find a reputable local shop. The dealer will charge an arm/leg. The only reason I would go to the dealer is if their special scanners are required to diagnose anything. Other than that I will always go for a personally owned shop for repairs.
  5. I have been wanting to get an aftermarket one for sometime now. I have the original 6 speed one on there but for the life of me I cant get the stupid thing off!! I dont know if someone used locktite or something at some point but it wont budge. If I could get it off I would send it to ya Kotta.
  6. Just got home from vacation and in some places we are almost at 3 feet where its drifted. Supposed to get another 6 inches or so in the next few days. Still havent seen anything above 9* F. Gotta love it!!
  7. Im a little late but Merry Chrismas all!! The wife and I flew out of Fargo, ND back home to Yakima, WA to see family and friends for about a week. Some advice, do not ever fly on christmas day. The air ports are packed. Got back home in Grand Forks late last night. Hope all is well with everyone and good to be home again!
  8. When you start looking for new injectors, check out some RV275's. They are a nice increase over stock (about 40-50 hp) and they seem to perform a lot better than stock. You should also see an increase in mpg's too.
  9. I would just start by putting some 15w40 back in and see where you sit, if you havent already. I have seen some weird stuff happen when switching oils, even if its the same viscosity. My dad did some experimenting in the old Kenworth. He is running a CAT 400 hp and it will go through a quart every 1000 miles if he used rotella but not burn a drop with delo 400. Both were a 15w40. Go figure.
  10. I did not know this. Thanks for the info. Gonna be looking into it ASAP. Its cold up here!!
  11. Thats what I thought. I will probably just bite that bullet. Good info. Thanks for the heads up.
  12. That may be why then. I have my sender tee'd in right before the VP so I know what kind of pressure is getting to the pump. It has to get pushed through my BF1212 and the stock filter before it gets to the sender. I probably see low pressure because that chilled fuel has to get through 2 filters.
  13. Anyone got a smarty I can borrow?? Stealership is gonna charge me $60 to do it. Might just have to because there isnt anyone else near me all the way up here.
  14. Thats kind of strange. I always see lower pressure in the winter time. Might be different because of pressure sender locations maybe. For every 10 degrees F lower than 20* i usually drop about 1 psi or so. Could just be the old raptor doesnt like the cold too..
  15. I am still only at about 215,000 on my 01. Now that my commute is only about 5 miles I dont rack up the miles any more. I used to clear between 80-100 miles a day on average. Cant wait to move back to the country...
  16. As far as I know its Model Year 03 and Model Year 05 etc.
  17. Wont having different size tires on the drive axle like that do harm to it? Thats just what I have always heard anyway.
  18. When I go down to have my truck flashed with the high idle software, should I disconnect my comp? Or will it not matter being plugged in? I would think not because the comp doesnt use the IAT/ECT info.
  19. If you are still using the isspro gauge like your sig says, I am surprised the gauge gave up. Especially since you were using the needle valve, that thing should have lasted you years. I wonder if you may have cracked something when you retightened it?
  20. I have never heard of this trick before. I would have thought having the oil in there would cause a bad connection but maybe not. I usually just clean them up real good, bolt em down and use a good terminal protector spray afterwards. Never had a connection or corrosion issue here.
  21. Just learned from our fearless leader that only 5 people can be in the chat room at one time..
  22. I must have a different model of pacbrake. Mine runs on vacuum as well.... They make small water separators for use on like air compressors in shops and stuff. Might be worth looking into something like that because not only would it act as a seperator, but also a filter..
  23. Just take things slow and double check everything. The worst is running out of time and cutting a project short. Usually messes everything up. Neither of these projects is all that difficult. Make sure you use a snubber or needle valve on the sending unit for the gauge. Otherwise, your sender wont last very long from the water hammer on the sender.
  24. I worked for them a couple summers ago for my summer break from college. Good place to work but the hiring process is the most messed up thing I've ever seen. The website I think was put together by monkeys.
  25. If only I had the comp screen in the truck. I'm sure I could give that Canadian a run for his money here. The radio was saying is was close to -50 one or two nights last week. That's with the wind chill though so I'm not sure what the actual was.
