i was under the impression that smarty doesn't actually save your ecms programing. it just has a default one in memory. i was told the the stock programming still gives high and 3 cylinder idles. so i believe you can activate your buddy's truck

i can only take credit for finding that info. i haven't seen the gears in question but if the sensor is the same...that only leaves the gear. plz let us know what you find and when you get your truck running right:thumbup2:

were you driving my truck? i'm still on the stock track bar(i think), moog "problem solver" balljoints, and have the same symptoms. the passenger tire wear, the "knock" felt in the floor pan(well i feel it in the gas pedal unless i road on the passenger side) and the steering wheel is off center. my truck is 2wd. typically i take it to acme wheel and they align the steering wheel and and compare mpgs to his 1ton

that should be quote of the month! it doesn't matter the type of the motor, just that you can consume the fuel efficiently! as far as i know...since the seventies, we sacrifice efficiency for less CO2 and NOx. forula1 racing switched to 100% ethanol a while back. why? it is cheap hi octane racing fuel. as isx has said, the hi compression allows big HP #. also i think that ethanol has a slightly different fuel/air ratio than unleaded. heck...didn't the model T ford have a swappable carb if you wanted to run ethanol? like any fuel conversion(natural gas, 100%veggie oil, etc)...you will have to spend to save. so the oil companies claims of "fuel and go" are exaggerated.

good video! that is why i call these "dummy" gauges. they are set by the computer rather than what it really is. nearly all newer (~96and up,gassers) that i have come across do this.

my trucks rpms used to "bounce" by about 50 or100 before i did the valve lash.i thought i read at dodgeram.org that cylinder one was supposed to be the hottest cylinder due to the way the airflows it usually is slightly richer.you did use new coppers and o's on those injectors?(you did make sure those original coppers came out?)my vp will "die" for split second(driving with and without cruise control, and parked) it has never died, just the split second thing and it picks back up like nothing happened. leaves no codes. using my code reader...i can monitor certain parameters while driving. can u use yours the same way and watch the IAT for data you know isn't right?

i know there a 3 different versions of the MAP sensor...are you sure the cam sensors are the same? but the edge is getting accurate(to your knowledge) rpms? that would come from cam sensor....and wait about the rest of the cluster? is it on and accurate?
